We take a long steel rod and weld a handle on one end and bend a hook on the other to pull our swing away hoppers into place. It keeps you upright instead of bending over. Only issue is not losing them when the auger travels to 6 or 7 different places in a season.🙂
Looking good in the new Massey, we farm about 1800 acres 1200 acres of soy,s down to about 130 acres then on to 275 acres of corn , planted 240 acres of wheat ,been a great week for harvest ,glad we got the much needed rain maybe the wheat will grow really enjoy ur videos
I'm so glad to see the Massey 9795 run, sure does a great job with the Gleaner head. You got some nice aerial shots there, I really enjoyed watching you harvest the soybeans. I hope you have a fantastic day!
Beans were really dry here, (central Iowa) this year too. Mine were in the 8's and 9's at least, not the 6's! That's a good idea putting air on them on a humid day.
Good morning! Yes it is. Last year I couldn't get anything done because of rain, this year I was begging for it. We got a nice soaker last night that will get the wheat growing and help the new hay seeding.
They're all over the place. The edges of the fields are just about worthless and there's some areas the yoeld monitor is saying 70. Looks like I'm going to average in the low 50s overall.
Hey Chris, it looks to me like that you are a one man band show. Most of the time, either that or your help is camera shy? You do a excellent job describing what you are doing and why, very thorough , Keep the videos coming I watch them all.
Most of the time I work by myself, including soybean harvest. It might be a little slower, but I enjoy getting to use all my equipment. Plus I know who broke my stuff. 😂 Thank you for watching, it is appreciated.
Thank you for the Sunday reset. Illegal to water beans. Put a large kiddie pool at the fan intake, stock it with some fish and put a fountain in it to keep the fish tank airated. Just claim it was the only place you thought was best to try aqua-farming. Corn would be close to feed them and you have electricity there to run the fountain that oxygenates the tank. When the beans are moist enough you could keep raising the fish and have some really fresh fish to eat. Of course, Rossquach would probably grab the fish and eat them whole. Thank you for the video, it has a special meaning this week as I told you about.
Well, they weren't the last beans, i e got 1 more day's worth to run. We got just shy of 2 inches last night, so that will get those last beans rehydrated and the wheat growing. The earliest planted wheat around here is very patchy, not enough moisture to get it germinated. My hay seeding I put in back in August germinated well, but it can definitely benefit from this rain as well. Forecast for this week is dry, so beans will be done mid week and then it's on to corn. Been awhile since I've started corn this early
@@ThatOliverGuyChris Glad you liked the rain. We liberal Democrats control the weather and eat dogs and cats. I did my naked dance around a dead tree while chanting my weather control chants. If you need more than 2" of rain just let me know. I think I might be able to control the rain clouds to get the fields you need. That might make a good video clip.
All most full I remember last year with corn and you over filled it . Ok batteries I bought me a spare one the same size as the choppers I have and put it in the control box so that they would run out at the same time .

I suppose it is possible, especially inside the machine. I don't think bean dust is quite as flammable as flour or sugar dust, but I bet under the right conditions it could. There have been a lot of combine fires around the area, fortunately most caught them quickly and were able to save their machines, but a few have been total losses. It definitely makes a guy nervous.
Massey harvesters are robust combines use a 1980+ Massey 750 combine for maize, sunflower and wheat here in Bethlehem, South Africa. Planting season over here just waiting for good rain to come. Good luck with the harvest season, take care.
How did it do for grain loss? Our 9695 was loosing some out the back, tried slowing the rotor down and slowed the fan to 1120, still was loosing some. Concaves had set at .74 and tried opening the upper sieve. Hope you have a great harvest, looks like the Massey is doing great
It's doing great. Nothing going out the rotor. The stuff was so dry that I'd get a lot of MOG going over the chaffer in the later part of the day. That was slowing me down some, especially on side hills. I'd typically start with the rotor around 520 and by the end of the day be down to 450 with the concave at .67 I slowed the fan down to 1150 for a short time, but started getting a little more fm, so I went back to 1220.
Are we sure that Ross wasn’t driving? Chris, I was at a local show here in north central PA yesterday and saw a yellow American 60. The sheet that the guy had said they only made 8 yellow ones. The interesting thing was that it appeared to have originally been sold by Maibach Tractor. If I could figure out how to put a picture on here I would lol!
😂 😂 😂 The yellow version was the lowest if I remember correctly. Very low, especially if you separate it out by model. I'm surprised more municipalities didn't buy them just because of the paint color.
Thanks for the video Chris! That Massey combine looks sweeet. Do you happen to have a recommendation for a parts manual for an Oliver 1650? I am trying to find a part number for the cover that covers the port on the right side (same side as the oil filter) of the bell housing

Hey Chris, love the videos. I have a question for you if you don't mind. I have a white 2-85. Lift pump went out discing. Towed it 150 yards to the shop. Replaced lift pump 2 days later. Now no hydrualics at all. So I guess my question is, can towing it harm the hydrualic system in some way? Thanks in advance.
I don't see how it could hurt the hydraulics. Towing them long distances without the engine running can cause transmission damage, but I don't think you have to worry about what you did. I'd pull the long shaft that goes from the pto to the engine and see if the splines on the engine end of it are good.
Glad to see you are having good luck with harvest. We are dry here too. Beans are 7-8% here. Lots of shatter at the reel. Had the injection pump start leaking Friday night when grandpa pulled the combine in the shed. It got pulled off to take to a local mechanic to reseal it hopefully today. Your old massey is the same size as our 8900? Correct? Just a rotor machine?
The 8570 is definitely a step above the 8900. We ran 6 rows on our 8900 and typically ran 2-3 mph, and down under 2 on some of the hills. The 8570 I kept under 5 mph so the head would chew up the stalks better, and only the biggest hills slowed it down.
@@jamieebersole6755 😂. Back in January I had 600 bushels end up in the median because a trucker cut off my trucker. I wonder if they are ready to harvest... 😂

My early beans were a 1.9 variety they ran about 8 bushel more an acre than my 2.4 variety
Around here the early beans matured before the water ran out. My 2.9s had a lot more potential, but a lot of pods didn't get filled.
