The problem with my olf fob is that it lock button is malfunctioned. My question is that how I will press both lock and unlock buttons simultaneously as only unlock button will work and the lock button will not. Need help
You have an error in step 6 on the second part. It says to use newer the old fab but it’s already in and it was not suggested to remove it. How did it get out?
I keep the Key Fob in my pocket and start the car like normal. Hold brake down, press start button once, after all dash light comes on, then ready light comes on. Car is now ready to drive
I liked your instructions, very clear. But what ended up happing is that my original key fob stopped locking doors after I did your chicken dance? So now I can’t lock the doors to my Prius at all. Any advice? What did I do wrong? I can only drive my car now when I insert it into the slot. The new one doesn’t do anything.
For info only: Pls make sure your key Fob has silver backing. Take a second look at the steps. I know I missed it the first go round. If not then the full.chicken dance will solve the matter.
Nice my fob now works to turn on the car but it does not unlock and lock the car. Do you have a separate video on how to program the fob to lock and unlock the car?
It should lock and unlock if done properly. Because the doors will lock and unlock. Please review video and make sure the driver door is left open when asked and closed accordingly. Hope this helps.
Same question the old key fob does not lock that's why we got a new one so when I try to lock/unlock I get stuck. I programmed my new key and it works when I put it in but I can't get the proximity set up.
@@CodyPalmenMD first make sure you have the key fob with the silver logo on back cover and your car has proximity sensor built in it (the black button on the outside driver door handle, and when you put your hand through the driver/pass side outside handle door(s) unlocks). If you can drive the car with the new key fob but can not lock and unlock, i would do the lock and unlock again or the entire procedure again. I had issues programming 1st time but 2nd time everyrhing worked out fine. *** Please make sure you have the correct (silver logo on back) key fob. *** I would like to hear if you solved your issue. Thanks
@@henryd42501 it is a silver logo key. The proximity feature as well as the face buttons in the orginal stopped working when the was dropped in water. You can still insert it into the slot and it will works. The new key was able to programmed to start the car and the old key can get to the point where the car auto locks once you do the power cycle but when I hold down the buttons on the old key nothing happens because those buttons don't work anymore.
@CodypalmerMD. I am not a Toyota mech. Sorry, but if the programming is not working and you have tried it atl east 2x. . Look on line fir complete reset or you may need a shop that can reset all your key fobs, which should also delete all old memories. Sorry can not help further.
@@CodyPalmenMD did you ever figured it out? I bought this Prius with one that ONLY starts the car when put in the slot, does NOT unlock or lock. Not sure if master or not 😓
I am not sure if the key i havenis the original or not, because i bought my car from auction. I know thw key fob works, so with just the one working key fob I did the entire chicken dance. Both key Fobs works as they are supposed to.
For step #11. Make sure when you HIT LOCK button on the new fob, the door lock cycles just once. If it cycles more than once, repeat step #11. This happens to me. I had to try more than 10 times to figure this out.
Looked on Walmarts website and I'm only seeing the keyless keys. Is there something you looked up specifically on Walmarts website to find this key with the silver back? I can't find it on Amazon either
Please make sure one of your key is master key. If you follow every step and nothing happened then you may need to do the entire chicken dance process.
My problem with this half of the chicken dance is my new fob wont unlock and lock the car everything ealse with thw other half of the chicken dance works and with this half thats my only issue. Did i do anything wrong? Or do you think il have to fry something ealse?
I would have to ask did you do the sequence correctly? I made my mistake with the door not staying open. I had to write the sequence out before I started. If this doesn't work still then you can do the entire chicken dance sequence. There is nothing to fry because you are just programming. I did do it incorrectly 1st time and only lock and unlock via key pad and not the smart key. I did it again and evething worked great. Today it's still working fine. Lastly if it still doesn't work then you have to take to dealer to program. I ordered my part off ebay as well, dealer part. This is informational only, proceed at your own risk.
@@henryd42501 Hey yes i dis the steps over and did make sure to follow the open door sequence. It does everything as you state on the video except the fob is rejecting the program (ithink) because instead the one time lock unlock sequence that the car does when the key is programmed(step 10i belive) after holding the lock n unlock buttons at the same time and then the lock button on the new fob it does it locks and unlocks 2times instead of just once
But i do not know if its because the new keyfob to this prius is my old keyfob to the previous prius i owned. I dont think it should have anything to do with that because the year of the cars are not significant one was an 06 and the other 05(current one)
@@1rwclilgurl does the old key fob work at all? If not then check the battery, make sure you have a new battery. If you have a key fob that does not work on the car you are trying to program it will not work. You will need the dealer or lock smith to program it for you because they will have a unit override all the previous keys and reset set and program. Also try looking online to see if someone may have come up with a reset procedure.
@@henryd42501 yes they fob works. I did replace the battery just in case but I am able to turn on the car with the fob in the slot its just the keyless option isnt functioning and it did on the other prius i had so it should have to work. But every time i try the 2nd step to the chicken dance at the end it locks and unlocks the doors 2 times. 😭
Tried many others but your instructions finally works for me. I like that you keep repeating the process to help people understand. Thanks man!
Glad it helps and saves you money.
Thank YOU!!!! :)

It's good to know how to program the key
I'm happy it helped.

The remote key was new or used from another car. try diagnosis and nothing. try manual and neither, but the original if it works
New keys, No previous programming on them. I have not programmed USED keys, I can not tell you whether it will work or not.
