  • I'M BACK! After 2 months off hiking, camping and cold dipping, it felt so good to get out on a warm weekend in June! Join us as we go for a quick wild dip in the pools near Aber Falls where we are unfortunately confronted with the realities of Summer in Snowdonia.
I have been hiking, wild swimming, paddle boarding and camping around the UK with my Partner Kieran, for the last 5 years with our Collie/Kelpie adventure dog, Arlo. Recently we decided to take on all 188 of Wales Hewitts & Nuttalls so stay tuned as we hike our way through the list!
Snowdonia is where our heart is and where we spend most of our time exploring 📍

Thank you Georgia, this is the kind of things that rile the locals, and then tourists wonder why there’s such hostility towards them.

I'm local and Covid brought a lot of new people into the countryside who simply don't know how to behave in the countryside, luckily in the Carneddau at least Aber Falls is the only major tourist hotspot, once you get up into the summits of the Carneddau things get much quieter, it's one of my favourite areas in the summer months now as over the last decade the area has just got quieter and quieter, the only areas I stay away from all summer are the Snowdon Massif, Y Glyderau, Moel Siabod and Cader Idris.

I went for a wild camp at the tiny island on llyn glas. Got there and there was a burnt out barbecue and branches had been sawn off the little tree!

Hi! Enjoyed your videos! Me and my friends are following your video as our guide upon going to Aber falls hopefully tomorrow. Genuine question though, how are you related to Perrie Edwards of Little Mix? You two could be mistaken as sisters tbh 🫶🏼 Anyways, thank you for your vids!

    This!
I live in the Yorkshire Dales and it gets my goat that there are an element who wish to visit a beauty spot, then proceed to trash it... just why? It defies any sane thought process!

Yes, I totally agree about the changes that have occurred in the past 2 years. Before lockdown I would have between 30-50 nights mountain camping (uk+abroad) every year. Recently I've lost a lot of motivation for the very reasons you describe, and have "discovered" triathlon as a new endeavour. Let's hope things gradually return to normal - a big programme of outdoor education and awareness is needed.

It is different is it! I know we are supposed to be happy that more people got outdoors thanks to the pandemic but tbh, I'm not because I've seen first hand the result of it and it's not positive change 😑

@@georgiahollyedwards3823 well, I can see from your films that you like to visit some of the lesser known hills (particularly in Snowdonia) and if you can go mid-week it is still quiet and wonderful. But, Summer weekends are very busy now. I took to the hills and mountains to get away from crowds not to be amongst them - same as you probably. Even close to me in the Ainsdale- Formby woods and Dunes, there are way more people including lots of signs of "wild" camping.

I'll never understand it, why go to the effort of hiking up there to leave it like that 😩

Some people have no respect at all. What kind of an example are they showing their children. Just take your litter home and be a better person it's that simple!

Probably the same people who throw their McDonald's crap out of their car window and dog mess bags Into bushes. Unfortunately there are far more scumbags around now with no respect for themselves or anyone else and its getting worse.

Completely agree with all your sentiments there. A lot of people are still good but the scum element in humanity is increasing all the time as we get into third or fourth generation of no manners, no consideration for anything other than themselves, no concept of leaving the earth as you found it or better.
I am so glad I am not young like you . At 65, I can no longer walk the hills for several health reasons. My peak years were between 1995 and 2005 . I did a dozen circuits of the peaks above Aber Falls ; Foel Fras, Foel Grach etc two on magnificent snowy days. Just glad I saw those areas when I did. Never really completed any lists as I never saw the mountains as lists to collect but I did do all Lake District Peaks over 2000 feet ( probably doesn’t mean much to you young ones but I never think in metres).
I hope you are still able to enjoy the outdoor for many years .
