    Thank you so much. This was the video that showed me how easy it is. My '99 Suzuki Vitara door handle broke. Would have cost me $100 parts and labour at the shop. For $12 on ebay I got four door handles (2 left, 2 right). Not being that handy, it still took me 30 minutes to change it out, as I ended up having to use a vise grip to hold the wire piece that the new handle fits onto. But now it's done and I'm happy camper. Turns out that a lot of compact/sub-compacts use the exact same door handle, so availability shouldn't be a problem.

    Every other video I watched had me taking the door panel off. I'm so glad I watched yours, and just changed both of mine for 7 bucks. Thanks

    It's so much easier if you remove the door panel.

  • @brack1936
    @brack1936 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes - thank you! Today I tried to remove the interior door handle on my 95 Excel so that I can remove the trim so I can change the outer door handle. Do you know of any differences/similarities between this and an Excel? I decided to stop before I broke something at the stage where you disconnect the inner handle from the rod. This video shows it being done brilliantly and I think it's very similar to an Excel. I suppose I'll find out tomorrow morning!

    • @MuddyDrivewayProductions
      @MuddyDrivewayProductions  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I'm not sure what the Excel looks like. Just take your time.
      Thanks for checking out the video and commenting.

      No problems - thanks anyway. I found one actually and the video explains the job really well. I stopped yesterday because I was almost certain I'd break something and now I know how it should all be done so hopefully it'll get changed soon. Too much work over the next couple of days though :/

    If you have "power the lock" make sure your doors are unlocked when you get out of the car. Forcing the handle while the doors are locked will break it.

      I’m thrilled! Thank you, this was awesome! My husband sadly died last year, so I’m now encountering all those problems & tricky tasks that he fixed for us…and trying not to feel totally overwhelmed & alone!🤪 The interior driver door handle on my dear old Chevy Tracker (yr 2000) broke. I ordered the handle (set of 4) for just $15 from Amazon. Most videos were for different types of handles but this was perfect, and so clear…plus I loved the interactions with your family. I’m so proud of myself…and I know he would have been too. Thanks a mil!

    Where did you get the replacement part that you used? My casing and handle is broken just like your, all I can find is the inner part that requires taking the whole door panel off.

      Hi Sandy, picked it up from Toyota. Sorry I don't have the part number. But if you go down with your VIN number they should get the correct one for you.

    These Toyota Corollas are full of plastic interior parts that easily crack and break. The same passenger interior handle broke on mine, and the sun visor and the dome light.

    What happens when you lose that metal rod?

    • @MuddyDrivewayProductions
      @MuddyDrivewayProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then the handle will not work. If it fell down you might be able to fish it out with a magnet.
