    R14 is a god send on the compacts. They seem to be the best for about 95% of all work a compacts does.

    @timbervisions ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I had R14s on my subcompact for two winters. Never had traction issues. Easy on the lawn as well. New tractor (larger compact tractor) has them as well. I'm confident they will perform as well on the larger tractor in the snow. Heavier so it isn't as easy on the lawn, but still better than a skid steer.

      Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! I really think the R14 design is genius.

    Sure can't beat the R1 for traction! They'll get you through when the going gets rough. Especially when they're new and the tread is deep. I've found that the R4 is terrible in mud, and even in turf work. I've gotten stuck with an R4 when I thought it would pull me through. That's why I don't understand why the manufacturers are putting R4 tires on just about every tractor they make. In some cases, they give you an option so that you can choose between R1, R4 and turf tires. You just have to talk with the dealer about the kind best suited for your terrain and field conditions. Excellent info, Chad! Thanks for sharing! 😎

    R14 tires are the best
    You're right on the review and thank you for the good review.
    I'm a farmer and I have had all the tires.
    I would definitely order or have the r14s on the SubCom pack tractors are even the medium subcompact tractors or larger subcompact.

    I have R4’s with rim guard on my JD 3025E. I haven’t been let down in traction so far but when is squishy in the spring, the tires do tend to print more in the pastures. When I need replacements, I might opt for the R14 if they are still popular.

      @@PurpleCollarLife I believe I was told between 550-600 pounds now I wouldn’t quote me on that as my memory can vary with the days of the week! Super happy with the extra ballast, drove one without and with at the dealer and it makes me feel better.

    I have turf tires on the JD 850. They do well for me. When I plow snow with the bucket, I need it in 4WD because they do lack some bite. The lack of bite in the grass is very nice as well. Plus, if I would tear up the lawn, Mrs. S would not be happy. I tear up enough grass with the bucket plowing snow! 🙄

      I can't tell you how many times Jennifer has been unhappy that the R1s on the Ford, or even the R4s on the Deere have done some lawn damage. It seems to happen every Spring in the thaw, and then also in the winter before the ground freezes hard.

    With my experience, the R1 Ag. Tires are not great for snow removal applications. The R4’s and R14’s are great in snow, even Turf tires on the compact tractors are pretty good in snow.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did try the turf tires one winter to push snow - they would be awesome with chains! I think our new Versa Turf tires will really shine when plowing snow this winter. Now I just hope we get some snow to plow! Last winter we only plowed twice.

    On our Farmal BN, and Ford 8N, we always run R1 design. These need to go into the woods and through snow, and they work well. If it gets bad enough, like with ice, we cam always add the chains which can get us through almost anything. If we get a Case 35C, it will have R1 plus weight.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Our 8N and Workmaster tractors wouldn't be able to make it through the woods and winter snow without the R1 Ag tires.

    I bought a RK37 during the winter of 2021 when supplies were very low. It was the only one in stock and no one knew what future supply was going to be like, so I bought it with R4's. Under different circumstances I might have went with the R14's. So far I've been pretty happy with the R4's, but I can tell their not the best choice for off road traction. That's where the 4wd really comes to the rescue, and a little common sense. Seems like 99% of stock tractors come with R4's and if you want anything different ya have to order it special and that just wasn't a real option when they couldn't even get the tractors in the first place.

    • @PurpleCollarLife

    My 1025r came with R3 turf tires. They were really bad for loader work, almost running in the rims with a load. Bought the R4’s and they are a much better tire for loader work. They have a tiff sidewalls which the R3’s don’t have.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't understand why there can't be an R3 tread tire that can still hold up better (fronts) with some stiffer sidewalls. I know the stiffer the sidewall, the less deflection and potential for digging in (less radial effect) - but there's potential for a better designed R3 for fronts in my opinion.

    If you have to go on ground you dont want tore, dont get AGs, but trouble is I want the biggest tire I can get on front end of 4x4 tractor, and that is AG, but trouble is with that, I loose fender clearance on rear end, fender clearance is important for tire chains, good tire chains.......

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! You're right about the decreased fender clearance with the AG R1 tires because of their taller/skinnier design.

    As someone who has r3 tires on my Kubota bx1860 it’s definitely underrated in the mud I’ve never used the other tractors but in 4wd my tractor get through deep swamps now it’s started to struggle so I need tires that are a little more capable in mud debating on r1 and r14 the r1 def can do it but if I do the r1 I’m gonna need to change the tire everytime I need to mow or go back on the trails I don’t really want to do that I can but is the r14 capable through swamp lands

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with the R3 tires! I think the R14 would perform better in wet than your current R3 tires. But that's just a guess. I also would think R1 would be the best option for really wet swamp lands.

  • @OmegaBlueFarms

    After 3 years of personal experience, I beg to differ about the durability of the r4 tire. As front tires on a subcompact tractor, THEY SUCK!!!!! for loader work. They are overrated as a front tire and quickly break down with lots of loader work. They are only 4 ply tires, an overrated lawnmower tire.
    I finally stopped replacing them on my subcompact when they failed. I replaced with 8 ply skid steer tires and it is night and day. Skid steer tires are tough and well suited to loader work. These are REAL industrial tires, the r4s and their paultry 4 plys are frauds.
    Oh and to add salt to the wound? The skid steer tires are much cheaper!
    FWIW, I kept the r4s on the back. I am more than happy with their performance.
