    Can you help, please? I have one of these E5577 - I am in a very variable reception area. I also have a Huawei aerial with 2 x TS9 connectors. DO I HAVE TO CHANGE anything in the 5577 menu when I attach the aerial? I seem to remember from a couple of years ago that you need to 'tell' the 5577 that you are connecting an ext. aerial but now cannot find out whether you do.

    these wifi (sticks) keep coming loose the threads that is on router so end up rolling sideways down , i read thread locker is not conductive so thats a no go , is there anything that i cud put on the router nibs that wud glue them on after screwing on and dry solid ish , so they dont come loose , "Without affecting any gains" or signal in general , thx

    The Huawei in your test is accessing 4G on one interface and then routing it over Wifi on another interface. Doing more than double the work of the iPhone connecting directly to 4G. If you wanted to do a true comparative test, you should have run the iPhone in Hotspot mode, and done all the speed tests from a laptop.

  • @Calypso993
    @Calypso993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    you need to know what LTE Bands the antennas is compatible with. also dont judge your signal by how many bars you have. the web interface of your 4G hotspot should give you data about the signal strenght

    You missed the point of these routers a bit. You seem to think that their main benefit is sharing a single sim card - but you can do that from your phone directly by setting it up as a mobile hotspot.
    The benefit of these things is that, in areas with very bad signal strength, you can set up an external antenna and get *way* faster speeds than your phone can provide in those low-signal conditions.
    Yes, they can be convenient private networks on the go (for laptops and tablets etc) but a phone can do that too.
    Try going somewhere with very poor signal strength and doing your tests again.

    I'm getting ready to relocate to a remote area, and I was told, the fastest solution was mobile broadband, I already have a device similar to this, tho I think a little bit older, it runs 4G LTE (Looks almost identical) so my plan is to have a decent antenna on the roof of the house and run the cable down and inside to the modem and see if it's effective.

    So.. testing internal vs external antenna when you have 4-5 bars is pointless, even if you had set the router to actually use them. Go somewhere you have no signal then put it on a tree stump or something with no aerial then vs an aerial. Then set your speed to read in MB/s like the rest of everyone who dont know what mbps is and assume its the same (Meters vs CMs)

      Anyways, for the lazy folks out there just go into your router settings. It should normally be under: Advanced Settings > System > System Settings > Antenna Settings and choose between Internal, External, Mix or Auto.
      If you can't find it then check the router's website to be sure there is an antenna settings in the first place, otherwise no luck!

    Sorry, finger down! The proper test would be to put your phone by at least 10m away from the router. Then you would probably see a different picture. If there are lots of wifi access points around you then there is an interference between them. That's probably why your iPhone is having much faster downlink directly with your mobile provider. The mobile 4G network (broadband) is a very different technology than WiFi 2.4GHz (with only 3 channels basically). Also, in the much better test you would use 5GHz WiFi (if this router supports it).

      I personally don‘t like that he hasn‘t checked if it has chosen the internal antennas or the external ones (some routers have to be configured first to use a external antenna).
      The nearby phone shouldn‘t have a large effect on the mobile signal as in Denmark there are usually 4 or 5 component carriers available (Band 1, 3, 8, 20 and 28, sometimes Band 7) and that if a phone is connected to a working WiFi network, it will connect to a low-band LTE/NR cell in order to safe power and the cell will only aggregate some spectrum to the phone (LTE is based on so-called resource blocks with 200kHz bandwidth each and usually in standby mode, only 6 Ul RBs are aggregated). So interference from the phone shouldn‘t be a large deal.

      It depends on your location sir.. Hehe samin dito malakas naman, umaabot ng 50mbps GLOBE po, kasi GOMO gamit ko, pero nung pumunta ako sa bahay ng kapatid ko, pinakamataas na ang 1mbps, weird kasi pareho lang naman LTE or 4G ang signal na nasasagap pero 2 bars lang ang signal di gaya dito 3-4 bars, pati ang nakapagtataka kasi sa parehong barangay lng kami, weird tlaga... kahit ilabas ko pa sa bahay ang router same parin, mahina... Kaya dependo po tlaga sa location, swerte swerte lang siguro... :-(

    Why use one when you can use your phone? Do a speed test on a tethered laptop... you wont get anywhere near what the phone can pull down.

    improves signal not speed WTFUCK, if you get bullshit antenna, (just bestroy one and see for yourself, IT"S BULLSHIT) then you get no results, just buy an expensive one, that actually goes outside somewhere, or make one yourself, and the results will be excellent.
