Muay Thai is not Kickboxing... Muay Thai is Pure Stand up Fighting... Kickboxing is a western sport and is entirely different with more rules.

Muay Thai is spiritual. The idea is to stand upright and stay emotionally composed. You lose points for getting angry, losing balance. The idea is to fight like buddha.

Muay thai is referred to as kickboxing interchangeably in the west. Pure stand up could be boxing. It doesn't mean that its not kickboxing. Thai boxing or muay thai is pretty much kickboxung in its most complete form with all 8 limbs. I know this because i study muay thai and our school refers to it as kickboxing.

Yes american kickboxing is punches and kicks, which is different from muay thai. Muay thai uses fist elbows knees and feet. Muay thai is a more complete version of kickboxing. Our school trains in muay thai but it is called kickboxing we use all eight limbs and our lineage is from kevin seaman who was taught by arjan chai

The music is 70% of why I love watching Muay Thai. One Championship Muay Thai fights are soooo boring to watch because there’s no music

i'm javanese, i'm surprised that the instrument in muay thai actually originated from java. yes we have this kind of intrument, it's often played in traditional dance about cavalry in war called "kuda lumping". btw i practice muay thai and often play this music on speaker to boost my training.

So the flute comes from Java? Interesting. In Pencak Silat, their music sounds similar to this.

For the love of god, Muay Thai. Muay Thai was here first, and is completely different from kickboxing. Kickboxing is nothing more than a sport, muay Thai is much more than that.

Why do the Scottish play those clunky bagpipes when they can get the same sound from these clarinets?

I play the scottish pipes. They are much louder and have drones.

No disrespect, but that is a part of the culture and part of why it makes the sport so unique. But it's good that you find it annoying as I assume you'll never step in a muay thai stadium again. Good for the sport itself with passionate people watching it.
