Hello person reading this. I hope this song has a fraction of the impact it has on me. Its time. We're all capable of more. Let's win the war inside ourselves and change this world.
Of all of nahkos many many videos on youtube. Ive watched this one probably a hundred times. And seen him live twice. THIS is nahko at his finest. Top shelf. Even though i can sing this song (terribly) word for word.. i have to force myself to just be quiet and let him do his thing when i put it on for people. I love you nahko. Stay humble.
One year ago i hear this song for the first time. I was in a bad place in life. Right there and then i knew i was going to change my life when i hear this song. I just graduated from trucking school. Im no rocket scientist but i made a change. Thanks nahko. Its literally cause of this song.
This song is like an anthem to my Warrior Soul. i feel great peace listening to it. Words don't really do it justice. So thankful to have Nahko be expressing things so near and dear to my heart. Blessings
You said it loud and proud, sir, "I am here to make a change", and evil, being real, cringed at your words then, as it even moreso does when you sing it today! Namaste brother Nahko
I'm rather surprised that nine people disliked this song. My girlfriend and I first heard Nahko a few months back and he's been such an inspiration ever since. I play this track every morning when I wake. My mantra
+randywatchingbush The man is next level inspirational. Found out about him 4 years ago, and haven't stopped traveling to see him. He is finally coming to my hometown and I feel blessed.
If I make it out alive, I will make a change If I make it out alive, I will make a change I need a change, it's evident A transformation imminent A chance for my soul's intelligence to redefine lines of indifference I ride past the spirit with the well scratched pad Always looking at my poetry for the reasons I had Never stopped and let someone else take the wheel Now I'm in the backseat like "what the fuck is real?" Got to bury the hatchet Bones no casket The dead don't dance to a liars message So restless Cross it off my checklist Poetic warfare, a bear with horse hair He's reckless, acts like he's got a deathwish True heyoka, tricking the trickster Laws of nature, loyal creature Son of the most high, willing to wager my plan And I'mma stick to it I'mma ultimately liberate my consciousness I want the change I will make a change If i make it out alive, I'll see you on the other side If the sacrifice I owe is the reasons that I die And I know that this will pass, so I put it in the past And of all the things i fear, it isn't now and it isn't here I'll make a change, I will make a change And it comes at a cost, well that's obvious My list of distractions is infinite My delusions of grandeur are all equipped With dark lords, back doors, and some wizard shit. Well I did not know they were gonna choose me And I oughta take myself more seriously. Cause what comes through me no it ain't no trick And I know that all of us are born with different gifts, so Lift yourself from darkness take a couple steps back On an abstract attack I fell beneath the cracks I didn't come here to drone out and drag my feet Stand in quicksand both hands and accept defeat I got work to do, let me get back at it The clock is tickin', I can hear it through the static Now i'm not being dramatic, enemies don't sleep In fact some aren't human and that's hard to believe Cause I'm such a visual person, my third eye don't lie He's a wise guy inside, even fooled himself twice Thinking maybe I'm not ready to be leading the way I mean fuck, I'm only human, bound to make some mistakes An earthquake took place within my lifetime of fear, I hear this too shall pass, the beginning is near I want the change I will make a change I wanna walk in righteousness But I keep tripping over ditches of my selfishness I wanna pass a fist to a pacifist I keep beating round the bush instead of facing it So I'm facing it, some gladiator shit Yeah I'm rippin' over rhythms, yeah I'm healin' it But it's non-stop knocks from the mountain top, to the city block to the tanks: stop and block Another brother got shot dead on the sidewalk While the cops doing inside jobs and I'm shocked So my hands are stretched out to the sky Got some poems in my left and a gun in my right And my eyes'll cry over bulletproof pride Cause I know I didn't come to make it out alive And I thrive in the midst of a battle Front lines you can see me in the struggle These are the songs of a walk towards revival Even brave men can put down their rifles I got my orders, and I'mma follow them You can find me kickin back inside the lion's den I'm making friends and amends with some evil men Gonna bring them in and inject them with the medicine I'mma do no harm, but I'mma take no shit And I'mma build a bridge out of the emptiness And potentially well I'mma live to be the hardest working bear in the fucking industry I will make a change I will make a change I will make a change I will make a change
Nahko and MFTP was the best show I have ever been to. Some legit musicians, they don't just stick to their normal songs. They mix songs together, improvise, and go solo. It's more than a show, it's a musical performance. So good.
Nahko ! Yea ! You. Don't stop my brother ! You've change almost everybody's life I know . This song is the truth , it is good it's evil it's the struggle of reality ! Brother medicine tribe stickers .... The humble movement will be something I wil never lose ! I love you, and your team and I can't wait to shake your hand one day .
I needed this song right now. It's amazing how deeply music can affect a person and his emotions and behavior. I've been battling heroin addiction for 10 years now. Went to rehab over a year ago, which was a great transformational experience, but every day is a battle, some worse than others. Songs like this help me get through the tough days. You just need to find something to keep you going. Thank you.
Jack McGeary im fine its good for me! no rehab. never let me get sick. better connections plenty of stach makes me happy. ur laws arent my laws. i will decide for my own body. keep ur pigsaway from me and my friends and family. i dont owe u my body. im not a willing slave. go b smart and abolish drug laws. cops stop enforcing unjust laws or u will be condemned to hell for abusing ur fellow man. love each other instead and save ur souls. real simple message
Definitely my favorite recording of this song! Absolutely 🔥 You're so amazingly talented and Definitely choosen to spread the love, realness, and medicine with us!!@
Can't wait to see you in Pittsburgh, you are a truth speaker through beautiful soul music. Aho brother keep jammin and making beautiful music! one love!
I used to listen to this as a kid at like 3 or 4 and now I'm 9 and I said to my dad this sounded familiar and he said yeah because you used to love it as a kid and now I love it again
i have always heard this song as "i will make a change in the world." this morning i was sitting with my trama processing it and i gained a new perspective. i started hearing it as "i will make a change, within myself." as in growing and healing and the honesty i encounter in this song about overcoming obsticals i have placed in my own way is astonishing.
Actually my four-year-old neighbor and my six-year-old daughter last night wanted to hear a couple of his songs last night and we had a fun time dancing in the kitchen together music is music whatever makes you breaks you and pulls you back together
saw him live in MN in a small intimate set by a cornfield..and he played this song probably soon after he had written it, had never heard it...it was pretty sick
Seen him at the Castle Theatre Bloomington IL this summer. The energy and the crowd was so loud and incredible. Nahko just took it all in. That night was amazing no lie.
Holy shit. First song I've ever heard by NAHKO and this is sick!! I mean, the song is amazing and lyrics are super cool, but the scribble he does a couple times is freakin smooth!
I love Nahko and Medicine for the People! I've been following them for a while now, and when I heard this song for first few times, I cried so hard. I wonder if I read into the song too much, or if its just because Nahko is amazing. Either way, I love this version of the song the best... Nahko and his guitar
Nahko, thank you for everything you do. This song woke me up. I had been sleepwalking for the last ten years after I found my own path. I found Buddhism and was transformed, then, life got stressful and I guess I kinda forgot what my propose was. But, you reminded me of the reason and I will be forever thankful. You are, in my humble opinion, a Bodhisattva.
Going to see him open up for Rebelution next month and looking forward to seeing what are, for my money, the two best LIVE bands in the world today (J Boog also opening to complete one amazing lineup btw)! If you don't dig this video right here...you're either not alive or just don't know good fucking music or talent when it's before you. Nahko Bear=GENIUS...period.
and it comes at a cost, well its obvious; my list of distractions is infinite. My delusions of grandeur, all equipped with dark lords, back doors, and some wizard shit.``` I didnt come here to drone out and drag my feet, stand in quicksand both hands and accept defeat. ```My third eye dont lie. Hes a wise guy inside, even fooled himself twice thinkin maybe Im not ready to be leadin the way. I mean fuck, Im only human, bound to make some mistakes. God Damn thats some powerful real shit.! Says we are the only ones stopping us from bein as brave and generous as this beautiful, talented, enlightened soul on stage. Have these words made anyone else question their reality?
...yes indeed it has. And it sparks an eternal feeling and belief i have been harboring for a few many years now. Now i must learn all i can i start my journey. Thank goodness because time is short.
Ashes nonviolent revolution? when did that work last? Look at the protests in Standing Rock, UC Davis a couple years back, the stagnant of BLM protests. These corporate government snakes don't understand peace
Hands down the best version of this song!
Nahko is carrying on the tradition of Bob Marley in bringing people together with inspiring music.
Hello person reading this. I hope this song has a fraction of the impact it has on me. Its time. We're all capable of more. Let's win the war inside ourselves and change this world.
This comment should have thousands of likes. Very well spoken, sir/ma'am. I stand with you, by your side in this decision.
I love this man. Not in a romantic way. In a sisterly, we-are-one way. Blessings Nahko!
+Lady Guymon same here :)
Lady Kamilah 💫🤗💫
I love him in both ways! Is that weird? Who even cares? :)

And of all the things I fear
It isn't now & it isn't here 💜💜💜💜💜

This is medicine! I’m dealing with the loss of my father. The guidance is needed. Thank you man, my girlfriend had the experience of meeting you
Nahko is a Musical Shaman.. not just another musician ... js
Word!
+randywatchingbush I saw him in Austin for the first time on two days ago. This guy is a true gift to humanity... He is a saint!!
+randywatchingbush The man is next level inspirational. Found out about him 4 years ago, and haven't stopped traveling to see him. He is finally coming to my hometown and I feel blessed.
+randywatchingbush TRUE STATMENT, have listened to him for three years now, changed my life
and changing the world! one soul at a time!
This song makes me feel euphoric and have faith that one day everything will be okay 💕
If I make it out alive, I will make a change
If I make it out alive, I will make a change
I need a change, it's evident
A transformation imminent
A chance for my soul's intelligence to redefine lines of indifference
I ride past the spirit with the well scratched pad
Always looking at my poetry for the reasons I had
Never stopped and let someone else take the wheel
Now I'm in the backseat like "what the fuck is real?"
Got to bury the hatchet
Bones no casket
The dead don't dance to a liars message
So restless
Cross it off my checklist
Poetic warfare, a bear with horse hair
He's reckless, acts like he's got a deathwish
True heyoka, tricking the trickster
Laws of nature, loyal creature
Son of the most high, willing to wager my plan
And I'mma stick to it
I'mma ultimately liberate my consciousness
I want the change
I will make a change
If i make it out alive, I'll see you on the other side
If the sacrifice I owe is the reasons that I die
And I know that this will pass, so I put it in the past
And of all the things i fear, it isn't now and it isn't here
I'll make a change, I will make a change
And it comes at a cost, well that's obvious
My list of distractions is infinite
My delusions of grandeur are all equipped
With dark lords, back doors, and some wizard shit.
Well I did not know they were gonna choose me
And I oughta take myself more seriously.
Cause what comes through me no it ain't no trick
And I know that all of us are born with different gifts, so
Lift yourself from darkness take a couple steps back
On an abstract attack I fell beneath the cracks
I didn't come here to drone out and drag my feet
Stand in quicksand both hands and accept defeat
I got work to do, let me get back at it
The clock is tickin', I can hear it through the static
Now i'm not being dramatic, enemies don't sleep
In fact some aren't human and that's hard to believe
Cause I'm such a visual person, my third eye don't lie
He's a wise guy inside, even fooled himself twice
Thinking maybe I'm not ready to be leading the way
I mean fuck, I'm only human, bound to make some mistakes
An earthquake took place within my lifetime of fear, I hear this too shall pass, the beginning is near
I want the change
I will make a change
I wanna walk in righteousness
But I keep tripping over ditches of my selfishness
I wanna pass a fist to a pacifist
I keep beating round the bush instead of facing it
So I'm facing it, some gladiator shit
Yeah I'm rippin' over rhythms, yeah I'm healin' it
But it's non-stop knocks from the mountain top, to the city block to the tanks: stop and block
Another brother got shot dead on the sidewalk
While the cops doing inside jobs and I'm shocked
So my hands are stretched out to the sky
Got some poems in my left and a gun in my right
And my eyes'll cry over bulletproof pride
Cause I know I didn't come to make it out alive
And I thrive in the midst of a battle
Front lines you can see me in the struggle
These are the songs of a walk towards revival
Even brave men can put down their rifles
I got my orders, and I'mma follow them
You can find me kickin back inside the lion's den
I'm making friends and amends with some evil men
Gonna bring them in and inject them with the medicine
I'mma do no harm, but I'mma take no shit
And I'mma build a bridge out of the emptiness
And potentially well I'mma live to be the hardest working bear in the fucking industry
I will make a change
I will make a change
I will make a change
I will make a change
Morgan Smith woah.
Enjoyed your song a lot but the "shit" and "fuck" got in the way. Saw the light in your lyrics and melody.
So much better live than studio versions! Every song man, I need to see this man live. Great fucking vibes. Much love.
He gives you chills live!
+John Sailors lol chills are an under statement 😄✌
Yes the studio version is horrible but this... This is medicine for your ears and your soul.
