Sunday, cuz. I was there. It dried up quickly and hikers were giving away their chairs, beer, coolers and everything. Lol.
Shit you not, my mom was walking in that parade with you. I tried spotting her but didn’t see her in your video. First we follow across Camino del Norte and now she’s right on your tail AT. Crazy!

The hippies great grand kid offsprin were dancing around like old school flower children did way back ui the with 1960's and 1970's.
I drove through Damascus on Saturday around 5 to 6 p.m. it was drizzling rain and the sidewalks were packed with h7jers walking all throughout the town. I meet a cool younger hiked by the name of backed up and his friend smoke. They were two cool young guys so I gave them a beer.
Hopefully I get the chance to do my own thru hike when I retire in 6 to 7 more years. Then my naval officer son will also be retired, Hopefully I can get him to come along for this journey. I would feel more comfortable doing the thru hike with my eagle scout son.

Just kinda stumbled in here. Funny story, The year is 2003...
I roll into Damascus mid-March. Never been there, don't know squat, only that it's a trail town. Somebody at MRO points me to 'the Place'. Trust, it's mid-March so I'm the only one there. The evening goes on... . Sometime around 10:30 I'm scooting around this dark mansion by myself and in comes this spooky figure. He questions me in what I'd call 'a-hiker-shakedown', Says his name's BJ (never heard of him before) and pulls out a fifth of whisky wrapped in ducktape... (any AT trail -philes, -phreaks should recognize this recent popular trail character. RIP JT.)
That's why I'll never forget the "the Place" 3x Repeat offender, 1x#1nobo

At the 12:47 point in this video that was hiker i meet wirh his trail name of backed up. He was wearing the red colored running shorts with red chili peppers printed on them, he also had 9n that beach type button down blue shirt that had lemons printed on the shirt. He was a cool young guy from Alabama. He was buddies with hiker who went by name of smoke because he sm8jed up a shelter trying to cook in first week or two on the trail,
At 12:55 point in video that was the guy who goes by trail name smoke who said hey. I also meet him when I was talking to backed up by the car wash and bike rental place across town from big festival area,
The 12:47 guy i don’t know. The second guy at 12:55 is actually named Kenny Powers. He and i have been together since day 1. He actually took my picture at the arch in Amacalola. He must be a doppelgänger for that guy smoke.
Lot of innocent fun where the cops mostly don't F with you. Riff-Raff in the woods, spooky.

I used to live in Tucson. ARizona has great hiking. There is a great FB group with about 90k members. Its called AZ hiker group #hikeraz. Look into that. There’s always group hiking stuff. Its a good way to meet new hiking families.

Ain't life funny? I'm in South Carolina and I hate that it is almost impossible to escape the people anymore. Did a little hiking in New Mexico a few years back (Los Cruces). Beautiful.

What do you expect on the trail after the bottleneck disperses? Still about the same for you? Did you leave early on to get out front, or just whenever it was good, no hurry?
It was great. Yeah, i saw some people reunite that hadn’t seen each other since they hiked it together. Some emotional reunions.
I had to shuttle up to it and them backwards today to pick up where i left off. You will seem me going through Damascus again soon. It will be calm though. Yes, now i am in a hurry.

Riff Raff in the woods is where the inmates run the Crazytown Asylum. They are a Trail Days institution.
Should of saved the shoe laces from the shoes you threw out.
They were pretty ragged and my new ones are quick release and don’t use laces
