  • I had one of these for less than a year before a drunk driver took it away from me. Turn it up, this is what that baby sounded like. I had two separate body men try to straighten it out but it was hopeless. Only difference is mine was "Arrest Me Red".

    This car is all wrong per factory spec. However, the prior owner, who has passed away, did make one the way he wanted it. So kudos to him. Since all this, the car had supposedly been put back to factory specs.

    What a wonderful sound, wow! BTW cold start simply pump the pedal three to four times > about 5 seconds to allow the gas to vaporize in the manifold, crank and she will fire. (massage the pedal to keep the engine running) It's the vapors that get her started without flooding your cylinders. She didn't put up too much a fight :)

    Some trans am facts on the trans am.....Of 252 Trans Am SD-455s in '73, only 72 had the manual transmission. In 1974, just 58 Formula SDs were made, and though a breakdown is not available for that car, just 212 of 943 Trans Am SDs had the manual gearbox that year.24 Sept 2018

      And the Ram Air IV cam never made it to production. It used the same "S" camshaft as the prior 455 HO cars used.

    I notice it has silver bevels around the gauges and a bird emblem where the electric door lock is located. Did you change those? Looks nice with the 70-72 stripe.

    Whats rare on this Pontiac firebird trans am is the 4 speed transmission not many trans ams had this option of manual transmission

      What I know is that this car originaly came out with a 4 speed manual and the TH400 was an option. Most buyers chose the th400 those days. Cheers from France and a happy 1971 455ho owner🤠

    Explain the a/c ducts/system; paint job, sticker
    position on the valve cover,
    and other mods on this car. It is a beauty.

    • @74SD455TA
      @74SD455TA 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The previous owner set the car up the way he wanted it. He recently passed away and the new owner is going to put it back the way it was originally. The A/C ducts indicate that this car was an automatic with a 3:08 rear end. The sticker is just on the wrong side....ooops plus the SD valve covers were not chromed, they were painted which allowed the line workers to know that it was an SD coming their way when they built them.

    • @DaveSoCal
      @DaveSoCal 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The window sticker does not say automatic transmission. Does that mean the replica window stickers can show any option that you want

    What a great find. Congrats on acquiring it. Sounds pretty wicked, and the OD stick is a plus. ('Specially if its got a 3.42 or lower gear.) Not a fan of the white. Would've rather it had the Bucky red, but that's just me. Also curious why it has the chrome rings around the gauges, like the 70 car. glad to see the AC gone, but wish the evaporator went too. Then stuff the vents on the dash with supplemental gauges. As for returning it to TH400, and 3,08s, (yuk). Car looks more fun as is. And it appears by your channel, you passed the car to some-one else. Any more vids of it since?

      This one 's not mine. I edited this out from TH-cam. It just went on and on. This guy buys them and sells them, I'm sure he beat that women up on price. Her husband use to race it at the local drag strip. However I did have a '73 in Buccaneer Red. 455 4 speed. Some stupid kid slammed into it, and that was that. I only had it for maybe 6 months. Every time I see one I just want to cry.

      @@jamescleveland I know the feeling, Jim. In 76, I bought a red 73, 455, muncie, 3.23s. Every option 'cept TH400, and SD. Stored it for 4 yrs while in the military. Once outta storage, put it into a tree at 80 mph, (and walked away.) One of the stupidest moves in my life. Bought another in 86, (But nothing like my 1st.). Needs everything. Have had it since then, never registered, still sitting....waiting for time. :(

    Wrong paint for the year as well. SD fans should be up in arms lol. 1970 through 72 cars are known as the striped cars. Only about 6k for 3 years produced.

    Too bad Pontiac cheaped out on the seats in 73 and later cars as well as the inner door panels. Nothing beats tons of REAL stitching.

      "cheaped out"???...BULLSHIT! The '73 "deluxe" interior was nicer than anything before by a long shot!

    • @debi5292
      @debi5292 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sigmamale7241 Dude your very wrong about that. We should know we have a 72 and a 73 TA and the stitching the seats and inner door panels in the 73 car is molded in and that continued for many years. Real stitching was last seen in 1972.
      Both are custom interiors on the options list.

      You obviously are lost in space. Every car manufacturer did the same to lower costs. We were in recession and had just gone off the gold standard if your smart enough to know history. Headliners became carboard with Vinyl glued to it.
      Just go to a car show some time and look see. Or just paint yourself as correct and be wrong the rest of your life. I could care less about the village idiot.
