i spent like 2 hrs just modding fo4. checking & trying different mods, enbs. although i already have a set of options, i still spend time trying something else. after hrs of modding, i felt like i already played the game. modding is like a gameplay to me now. lol
After almost a decade when I stop playing the game, I just started again like a week ago. And that whole week, I just spent it in finding and downloading mods. I have not even started the game yet. Basically spending my time with finding the latest and greatest mod before starting the new game. 😂
I gotta say, you're the best fallout mod channel I've seen over the years. You not only showcase new mods but compile mods of similar stature for people looking for a specific style of Fallout. Not only that but I already had all of these optimization mods except memory extender. As someone who mods a lot of other games I know how important something like that is. Thank you for your work.
Seriously dude, this was the most useful Fallout 4 vid I've seen in a long time. I was sitting at 251 plugins and just by clicking on that leaf in Vortex I got down to 149! Tons of space for new mods now.
I recently started flagging ESPs as ESLs and I now have over 500 active mods on a laptop that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements to run the game. It somehow still works. I may have a problem.
I mean if my poor PC with a Pentium G4600 and a GTX 1050ti with 8GB of RAM can run it around 30 frames with an ENB at 1080p High-Ultra with some ini tweaks I guess you are hanging by the thread here
I've been converted ESPs to ESLs in Vortex for a while now. I've never had any issues, but I recommend keeping notes of every mod that you convert from ESP to ESL to make it easier to backtrack and fix an issue just in case something doesn't work.
@@robertomorales5347one year later but some mods are stubborn and refuse to change load order. Converting them to ESL allows that e.g. fog remover which has to be placed at top.
I just hit my limit of 255 mods a few weeks ago and FUBARed my game since like 90 of the mods were out of date and conflicting with each other and all that. So I wiped my game with the disappointment that I could only have so many mods. This is a godsend of an upload. Especially when I constantly wanting more gun mods and mods that change how the game works.

Merging plugins does not fix inherent load order problems, and they are a pain in the ass if you want to merge complex weapon/quest mods. Bigger pain in the ass checking for errors and again, dealing with the load order. GPU graphics do not affect the game's engine limitations.
I stumbled upon this video from watching a bunch of your other mod highlight videos you've made and this one is definitely an eye opener. I tried to install Buffout 4 but that didn't work for me so i left it in a "disabled" state in Vortex. What i probably missed was manually installing the TBB Redistributable files in Fo4 directory. Also the additional Baka Scrapheap and High FPS Physics Fix look to be an interesting mods to look at. Thanks again for the video and keep up the good work~
Yeah this is something that pissed me off, when I downloaded Buffout it didn’t come up with that window showing everything I needed so I totally missed downloading that TBB file too! And I’m somewhere with no wifi either so I’ve gotta wait to download ugh lol its been killing me!

Recently came across this video - Thank you! I've previously come across most of the mods you featured but didn't install them due to all the supposed bugs that had been reported. Followed your guidance from start to finish - Wow! Didn't know FO4 could run so quickly and stably. Cut my 255 esp count to less than half. Had memory CTD problems but couldn't ferret out the cause. Buffout 4 flagged a problem with the Better Stores mod that I fixed with FO4edit. Problems over. Loading screens duration were slashed. Liked and subscribed. Again, thank you! Off to hunt for more mods...
Anyone wanting to take it further, you can merge mods with zEdit, and other similar programs, I just googled this to see if a way to lift the limit was found yet. It's also been theorized that you can flag any non eslable plugin as an esm, and bypass the limit of 255 esps, but you would then have to do it for all esps in your load order, and any other esp you decided to add after that.
the problem is not modding above the limit, is to make the goddamn game run. I never manage to make PANC, Masks of the wasteland, Sim Settlement and Agony run.
just passed the cap of 3 weeks of intense modding on Fallout 4 without really playing it , just downloading mods , test them , select them or not for any kind of reasons and repeat , I'm at weapons section at the moment on Nexus , what a mountain to handle haha ^^ but modding Fallout 4 into something totally new is for sure a crazy and funny experience , so much possibilities 😂😂😂

Best tutorial ever, in all my time playing fallout 4 i never could figure out esl files and how to see what could work with them. most tutorials show other software or tell something convoluted, yours just basically said "vortex has a option for this". thanks soooo much :3 (this is not a joke/sarcastic i am thankfull)
I feel you man. Came back to FO4 after serious upgrades to the PC, and it was crashing without mods due to the RTX weapon debris problem, luckily a mod fixes it, but I was still getting crashes like crazy, hopefully this will fix it.
I'm so addicted to this game that I started an Excel spreadsheet to track every single thing I do to the game. Every mod installed, date and time installed,when, pertinent locations in the Commonwealth, name of the d-loaded file, name of the esp, etc. I also enter date and time of each CTD or bug or distorted graphics, etc. This way, I can more easily narrow down the mod the mod that caused it, disable it in Vortex, and try to fix. I keep the spreadsheet open always when I'm running F4.
Okay, probably never going to be seen - but the guy that made the baka scrap heap mod also recently released a mod that alleviates the script lag. So worth checking out if you struggle with script load issues

Ultra Exterior Lighting and Wasteland Illumination is really heavy in down down, if you have them installed, tried disable them ^^. And this is very helpful thanks!
For newer modders You can also merge plugins to save on any esps as well increasing your load order by a lot weapon mods and armour mods usually merge the best and you can do companion mods although you may have face gen issues
I had Baka but not scrapheap, nice it actually did help. My moms game crashes right after she finishes her character, think its because of all the scripts that load up after and this scrapheap mod might help. Been trying to get my load order to work on her game but have had nothing but issues on her computer lol
Those C++ redistributables you had to download were so that your computer knows how to interpret the game code. On a Windows PC you will definitely have some already, but they could become outdated after a while, so updating them is always a good idea. the x86 and x64 refer to 32-bit and 64-bit versions respectively. That means the strings for memory addresses can be 32 ones and zeroes long or 64 ones and zeroes long depending on what your hardware and operating system support. That's a difference between something like 4 GB of memory and more than you will ever need in your lifetime. :) I'm interested in the baka scrapheap mod you mentioned. I know about baka framework for some of the author's other mods, but I hadn't heard of that one. I wonder if increasing the memory in that way might help reduce the incidence of the settlement engine bug 🤔That's what I was searching for when I found this video, so if you have any information on that please let me know :)
You can also manually convert ESPs to ESLs with FO4Edit but beware: You cannot convert any large mods such as settlement objects, quests, race presets or large weapon / clothing / armor packs. I tested it and I had to redo some of it back to its regular state but I did find out that you can convert single clothing / armor esps easily.
i have 253 mods and my games was painfully slow it would crash randomly while taking out specific weapons whenever getting into a fight it would freeze but now with all of this install my game runs buttery smooth

I actually paused the video for this, this is more for the sake of other viewers than the TH-camr: I do use vortex and I use the ESP to ESL flagging a lot! There is one drawback to it, it's a small one but still. If you disable/delete a mod that you've marked light or as an ESL it will sometimes forget the mod has files and basically delete them, or more the point force you to bleed it and then if you're lucky, it hasn't been removed from Nexus then reinstall it. That is literally the only drawback to this. And as I cycle through mods I run into a kind of frequently
Its a bit late but found out another reason for microstutters. If u launch fo4 in full screen mode it ALWAYS choses the highest refresh rate(HZ) that your monitor is capable of. 144 HZ in my case. FPS caps are kinda useless cuz if your monitor has freesync or gsync it will adapt the refresh rate to the current fps in game. Problem is at times it overshoots the target refresh by couple of HZ. For example If u cap FPS to 75, the free or g sync will change hz to a range of 73 to 80 which does not line up with the 75 fps consistenly enough. My solution was to use the original fo4 launcher settings to set it windowed borderless and setting my desired refresh rate in windows setting (my monitor can be changed into 60, 75, 120, 144 HZ) as a pseudo fps cap and enable the vsync from High FPS Physics Fix. In this case the max refresh rate (HZ) is set to 75 and there is no range above that. Like this your gpu will crank out the fps needed to max out the monitor refresh rate and getting rid of the micro stutters that mismatch between max refresh rate and fps cap cause. Hope this helps somone.

though mine is less than a hundred mods but i can still play on a laptop with ryzen 5 3500 u, 4gb ram and an rx 540 2gb. it's on 720p though.
If you wanna see all the ones that can be changed to ESL, on FLAGS set it to "Could be light" and it will show all the possible ones

As a Fallout Veteran, Damn your game looks so clean with those mods.
I installed these mods and will be giving them a run through this afternoon. Also installed that awesome looking sniper rifle.
i needed this, my fallout 4 has an abundance of crashes recently and i dont know why i even reinstalled all my mods and fallout 4
use buffout 4, when your game crashes it creates a log that can sort of tell you what caused it so you don't have to remove all the mods.

My moms game crashes right after she finishes her character, think its because of all the scripts that load up after and this scrapheap mod might help. Been trying to get my load order to work on her game but have had nothing but issues on her computer lol
Those C++ redistributables you had to download were so that your computer knows how to interpret the game code. On a Windows PC you will definitely have some already, but they could become outdated after a while, so updating them is always a good idea. the x86 and x64 refer to 32-bit and 64-bit versions respectively. That means the strings for memory addresses can be 32 ones and zeroes long or 64 ones and zeroes long depending on what your hardware and operating system support. That's a difference between something like 4 GB of memory and more than you will ever need in your lifetime. :)
I'm interested in the baka scrapheap mod you mentioned. I know about baka framework for some of the author's other mods, but I hadn't heard of that one. I wonder if increasing the memory in that way might help reduce the incidence of the settlement engine bug 🤔That's what I was searching for when I found this video, so if you have any information on that please let me know :)

You can also manually convert ESPs to ESLs with FO4Edit but beware: You cannot convert any large mods such as settlement objects, quests, race presets or large weapon / clothing / armor packs.
I tested it and I had to redo some of it back to its regular state but I did find out that you can convert single clothing / armor esps easily.

i have 253 mods and my games was painfully slow it would crash randomly while taking out specific weapons whenever getting into a fight it would freeze but now with all of this install my game runs buttery smooth
Me testing last added mods, and not understanding why it was crashing at Launch -_- I am such an idiot because the exact same thing happened with Skyrim 1 year ago........

I do use vortex and I use the ESP to ESL flagging a lot! There is one drawback to it, it's a small one but still.
If you disable/delete a mod that you've marked light or as an ESL it will sometimes forget the mod has files and basically delete them, or more the point force you to bleed it and then if you're lucky, it hasn't been removed from Nexus then reinstall it.
That is literally the only drawback to this. And as I cycle through mods I run into a kind of frequently

Its a bit late but found out another reason for microstutters. If u launch fo4 in full screen mode it ALWAYS choses the highest refresh rate(HZ) that your monitor is capable of. 144 HZ in my case. FPS caps are kinda useless cuz if your monitor has freesync or gsync it will adapt the refresh rate to the current fps in game. Problem is at times it overshoots the target refresh by couple of HZ. For example If u cap FPS to 75, the free or g sync will change hz to a range of 73 to 80 which does not line up with the 75 fps consistenly enough.
My solution was to use the original fo4 launcher settings to set it windowed borderless and setting my desired refresh rate in windows setting (my monitor can be changed into 60, 75, 120, 144 HZ) as a pseudo fps cap and enable the vsync from High FPS Physics Fix.
In this case the max refresh rate (HZ) is set to 75 and there is no range above that. Like this your gpu will crank out the fps needed to max out the monitor refresh rate and getting rid of the micro stutters that mismatch between max refresh rate and fps cap cause. Hope this helps somone.
Adding mods is an addiction for me. Halve of them I never use I dont even know what they do I just have them. I just keep adding them my pc space can not take this anymore
