    Chris's crossing the sheets and nailing a 3rd layer to OSB. Very interesting.

    I like your installation, but if I could make one suggestion is to upload a full length video as when it's sped up you miss a lot of the details. We can always fast-forward it ourselves. Thanks

      Hi Mario. Thanks for watching and the feedback. If you check out the TH-cam Channel you will find a more detailed video on the roof which is split into two parts and has lots more detail as well as commentary 👍

    Looks like you have nailed the torch on underlay and torched on the 3b? Didn't get to see no flashings finished around the sky light either

    Heyyy! I’m looking to build a skylight into an existing felt roof.
    Are you going to apply an underlay for the timber skylight upstand? Or just torch on the felt cap sheet?
    Wondering if I can get away with just torching on the cap sheet onto the timber upstand.

    Is there a benefit to having a felt roof with all the modern alternatives available? Asking as am currently building my own extension. Many Thanks for the films

      Hi Andrew. Thanks for watching. There are lots of options but felt is tried and tested, easy to fit, low cost, hard wearing, reliable, long lasting and easy to repair if there are any issues. It is entirely your choice but very few people have problems with felt. Some of the more modern options like GRP need to have the right Weather conditions and it is easy to mess up if you have guys who are not used to doing it. Whatever you go with for the waterproofing the key issue is to make sure that the structure itself has been constructed correctly and has the right fall built in as otherwise you will have problems whatever you put on top! 👍🏻

      @@JoeBlogs thank you for the reply.I thought it was a choice between fibreglass and edpm rubber nowadays! I like the idea of tried and tested though!

      I’ve been working with builders for the past 20 years and my advice to anyone doing a project is to do some research and tell your builder what finish you want rather than asking them to suggest the best option as usually that results in the cheapest/easiest option for them and not always the best outcome. I have never had a problem with felt but have had issues with the other two that you mentioned. If you do the research you will sleep sounder at night 😁👍🏻

    Is the 2 underlay the same material? If so why use 2 layers?
    And what did you use to fix the underlay?
    Thanks

      No point in to many under lay
      When felt breaks down it will break down at the exact same time regardless of which felt is on top

      What is the first layer and why not primer on ply instead?

    • @philipjeffery4569
      @philipjeffery4569 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Naran Patel you need jointing strips over the boreds joints, we're they meet up.. so the wood can expand... with out the felt being stuck to the joints.. so it doesn't rip the felt...

    • @philipjeffery4569
      @philipjeffery4569 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@naranpatel4526 in all fairness, you only need one layer if you have jointing strips over your joints
