I'm gonna get the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 25. Which is very similar to the FL Key. I think the pads are better on the M-Audio, there's less keys but does the exact same things as the FL Key.
I am getting it, the fl key 37 🙌 I have akai mk2 mini and akai fire at the moment, the one i like the most is the akai fire, but that do not have key velocity and the akai mini is a little too small keys for my taste and also feel a bit too cheap.. So this seems like the optimal midi keys for me.
@@Static.Display Check out the oxygen pro line up from M-Audio they have full semi weighted keys, velocity, after touch, Scale/Chord guides, bigger pads, full stop, play & record functionality from the keyboard just a lot packed into one midi. I highly recommend them 💯
@@ASAPJermz you won't have the pads channel rack mode but I have a template that will give you that functionality then yeah you're right and you can use other DAWs with it. Good idea.
if anyone has issues with modes not working, press "refresh device list" at the bottom left of midi settings and that is what helped me. Thanks for the video brotha!

@@thisisalbe I actually figured it out, for some reason, my keyboard only works 2 different ways, keyboard or channel rack mode and I have to switch it in the midi settings for it to work, is there a way I could get both to work at the same time? its very tedious working back ad forth and setting it back and forth 😫

Appreciate this. Purchased FlStudio and today ordered an FLKey 37. Looking to create with violins, etc. The last DAW I used was ProAudio 9 (cakewalk) 20 years ago. Don't mind telling you I'm just a tad intimidated but this will help!

You can customize the custom features to work with any 3rd party vst using the button CC. Some take a little while but once you have it setup for your favorite plugins you can select your custom presets all from the keyboard. As far as the note repeat hold down the button and look on top of your keys for velocity speed. The keyboard is nice I still need to do a lot more customization to make the work flow a lot better.

Hey Al, thanks for the quick review! I don't own one yet, but I do own a Korg Taktile 49 that has an XY trackpad with 2 buttons below it. This pad has a double function because it also works as a mouse. I really wish they added that to the new FL controller. Also, I find 37 keys is to little to play comfortably.
I had the Taktile 49. I "upgraded" to Arturia Keylab 49 MK2 and sold my Korg. Oh how I miss my Taktile. The keylab does NOT play nicely with FL studio. Have spent hours trying different things. Emails to Arturia and imageline forum. Arturia is aware of the problem and has plans to release an official script. I've been waiting since December 2021 for that though. Long story short, The Taktile is a fantastic keyboard and I wish I'd never sold it!
I just picked up an FL Key Mini, everything worked just fine on my PC but I can't get the "Controller Type" menu to display any of the (user) drivers on my laptop so I have super limited functionality at the moment. Any ideas? I've redownloaded and installed the drivers from Novation's website 6 times but still no luck. Keys work fine but I can't access the pad modes

Awesome review! Subscribed. Quick question, in channel rack mode can all 16 pads be used to trigger different drum samples or is it limited to the bottom 8 pads? Also how easily re-assignable are the controls? Specifically when it comes to 3rd party plugins?
For FL Studio, is there any difference between using the FLkey mini and the Launchkey mini with FLS template? The hardware looks identical but the Launchkey mini is cheaper, has an arpeggiator and also offers integration with multiple DAWs out of the box. I don't have either one right now. I'm really interested in the FLkey mini, but it looks like a simple software update could easily turn the Launchkey mini into an FLkey mini and I don't want to pay extra for less functionality...
There are some scripts that Novation released for the Launchkey MK3 and the Launchkey Mini MK3. Between those and the FLS templates there should be a lot of functionality. I always recommend the FLKey if you only use FL studio and need a new keyboard. If you use other DAWs I would just get an oxygen pro series keyboard
Hi My FLkey 37 arrived a few days ago, and for some reason I cant control some of the FL plugin like Morphine, Sakura, Sawer, GMS, etc. Can please someone help me understand the reason am having this issue and how can I fix it? Any chance to be an hardware failure, or is something wrong with my FL? I been watching some tutorial and they don't look having any of this issues.
If you mainly use FL studio and need a new one I would consider the FLKey. If you use other DAWs or already have a keyboard I would not upgrade just for this unless you really want tactile workflow. If you use multiple DAWs I would suggest the Oxygen Pro series. They integrate with all major DAWs. Like all of them even bitwig 😅

@@bymidas3820 I suggest getting arturia keylab essential 61 instead of 49. the 61 key version is just slightly bigger due to the changed location of the 2 disks. there is not much price increase between the two. for fl key and arturia, it is up to you. arturia has endless knobs which are better imo. it also comes with good software with sound samples.

I would recommend waiting on an FLKey if you are committed to FL studio as your DAW. If you are not sure on your DAW I would look at the M audio oxygen pro line of keyboards as they integrate nicely with most major DAWs. I have videos on those too 🤓
I don’t use that driver at all. You can find 3rd party drivers like BananaMeeter and try that though it’s a bit confusing at first. I really advise a external audio device that will come with its own, lower latency driver.

SHIFT+CHANNEL-RACK didn't put me into drum mode. I will need to look into that. Is their a prerequisite to doing this? One thing I am trying to do is to be able to play my MIDI Controller Keyboard and have the notes get entered into piano roll. Perhaps I need to use a specific plugin for this?

Ok, but what if there aren't ("user") options in the input list? I only have "Novation FLkey 37 MIDI" and "Novation FLkey 37 DAW"...and my options list looks different from yours...Can it be fixed somehow?? In general it works as it supposed to (I guess) and I can control native FL plugins. However, meanwhile I can't assign any pot through the basic options (by pressing the button link to the controller, clicking the desired parameter and pressing any know on my FLKey). When I touch the nob, window appears with options (with empty port number and CTRL)...Trying to set them up manually doesn't work! Can it be fixed somehow?? Cauz it's really annoying when you bought FLKey and can't reveal it's full potential ☹️
I hope Novation releases a premium flagship version based on the 61SL..the FLkey is great but cheap feeling..gets the job done but I’d pay extra for more dedicated buttons, faders and better keybed
Thanks for the video! I've been using an Oxygen Pro 49, but it doesn't integrate well with FL (my only DAW). Simple things like the transport controls just don't work properly. I've been considering replacing that or just adding this one to my setup. I already have an Akai Fire... We'll see.

That makes sense. I only use FL Studio for producing tracks and then Studio One for recording vocals and synths.

so the nobs only work with certain vst? Like I have TAL, OBS and nexus as an example I never use inbuilt fl plugins

My FLKey Mini is unable to switch modes. If I hold shift and select any mode, nothing happens. It's always on custom for some reason.

Which is the better keyboard this one or the m audio oxygen pro as a whole I'm trying to decide between the 2 so what do u recommend?
M audio as a whole if you use other DAWs. If you only use FL then the FLKey is it.

If you use IL Remote with phone or tablet, you can easily control plugins including orher company's.

Can this keyboard control other DAWs? At least the transport keys or doest it send CC through the knobs?
SHIFT+CHANNEL-RACK didn't put me into drum mode. I will need to look into that. Is their a prerequisite to doing this? One thing I am trying to do is to be able to play my MIDI Controller Keyboard and have the notes get entered into piano roll. Perhaps I need to use a specific plugin for this?

why when I select "Novation FLkeys 37 " my fl studio crash ?
I've tried to install 61flkey it says application is not supported by this type of mac I thought all mac can be used for fl studio and I just bought this flkey and I am frustrated right now ? What do I do to make this thing work bro
Ok, but what if there aren't ("user") options in the input list? I only have "Novation FLkey 37 MIDI" and "Novation FLkey 37 DAW"...and my options list looks different from yours...Can it be fixed somehow??
In general it works as it supposed to (I guess) and I can control native FL plugins. However, meanwhile I can't assign any pot through the basic options (by pressing the button link to the controller, clicking the desired parameter and pressing any know on my FLKey). When I touch the nob, window appears with options (with empty port number and CTRL)...Trying to set them up manually doesn't work! Can it be fixed somehow?? Cauz it's really annoying when you bought FLKey and can't reveal it's full potential ☹️
I hope Novation releases a premium flagship version based on the 61SL..the FLkey is great but cheap feeling..gets the job done but I’d pay extra for more dedicated buttons, faders and better keybed

Thanks for the video! I've been using an Oxygen Pro 49, but it doesn't integrate well with FL (my only DAW). Simple things like the transport controls just don't work properly. I've been considering replacing that or just adding this one to my setup. I already have an Akai Fire... We'll see.
I think the m audio works well with FL. I have videos on how to set that up too! Check them out you may learn something to change your mind
