Hi ssOrca we have just seen on the tv in the uk the devastation of the motor industry in Detroit. We are so sorry and send our regards to everyone over there. You were right it was my dad and 2 brothers so we all lost our jobs when British Leyland closed. Sorry for delay i haven,t logged in for a while.
When I think of the collapse of the once great British motor industry, it still makes me sick to my stomach and I am from Detroit. Are any of the chap's in the film your family?
Thanks for the comment a couple of things sprang to my mind why would anybody think that there would be horse Sh*t in a car factory and why would anybody take the time to comment on it when you think of all the other things you could be doing with your life.
Where did you get the pictures from? I actually have faith that the Chinese can turn it around for MG, SAIC certainly has deep enough pockets to do so and the know-how for designing exciting sports cars still exists in Britain. The Nanjing TFs were admittedly pretty crap but they were running on fumes by that point. Oh well here's hoping to a better tomorrow
That first pic of the minis on the line... there is a huge pile of what looks like horse Sh*t on the far right. Couple of things spring to mind. 1) why would this be there in a so called 'modern' production plant and 2) why did someone choose to take a photo here out of all the places available.
Hi Mike, Here at Back2back Productions we're making a documentary about Longbridge and we'd love to discuss including these photos. Could you drop me an email to jamie.carriban@back2back.tv to chat it over? Thanks.
My grandfather worked there on the engines.
David Hiscox, an aircraft rivetter before the war
Worked on the mini metro line in the 90s great memories

Annual shutdown? More like daily shutdown :P
BL paid there workers in peanuts. everything was done cheap. they had more strikes than a professional bowling player and outdated technology.
Wow, actual work happening at Longbridge, you're shitting me, right? This is a spoof remake isn't it?
