Thanks to a viewer of the show doing a NGD on his new guitar - we are checking out a 150th Anniversary Epiphone Sheraton. I wasn't expecting much from this guitar, but was blown away by its tone. The pickups are mysteriously nearly a decade old... but that's a mystery for another day haha

nothing surprising about Epi being good. They're actually much better than good. EPI has been around since the 1870's. Models like the Sheraton, Casino and Texan FT-79 are iconic great instruments.

Indian laurel is looked down upon in usa, not in other parts of the world.
Im from uruguay, and i have a luthier friend who builds classical guitars and he uses it for its sounding preference in some cases and not as a "cheaper wood".
Notice, we have supply of Brazilian rosewood since you can go to brasil and bring iif youre not buying waaay too much.
However, its not "worse" than brazilian, indian or honduran rosewood, irs just cheaper, more accesible and different

I have a rosewood Gibson Les Paul, and I have this Sheraton with Indian laurel. I really enjoy the way the laurel plays with my fretting hand. I think both types of wood are great, and I actually think the Indian laurel looks prettier than the rosewood, especially after I oil it up like what trogley did with the wood on the tailpiece.

The vibrato is stable and versatile, the middle position jangles like a Rickenbacker, and with the right overdrive it sustains like a violin and has really great, highly controllable feedback that becomes a new tool in your playing. It's at the top price I'm comfortable spending on an imported Epiphone, even with the deal my SW rep gave me. It sounds good, and is a quirky, fun to play guitar. I can get a bright, surf sound out of it. I haven't tried crunch yet, but having other mini-hum equipped guitars, am sure it will not disappoint.

Ed from 2016 with Sheraton II pro style neck and headstock, top of their line this year and the first thing to do there is upgrading the nut for a better material. The 150th Anniversary Sheraton is $1860CAD in Canada! The Emily Wolfe Sheraton and Lucille are closer to $1300CAD and they were once the pricey ones. Having "real" Gibson mini humbuckers could make that price more bearable. Since the Gibson 335 is over $4000CAD and currently no versions have mini humbuckers. I've read Epiphone minis are nothing to sneeze at either and there are lots of options with those. My experience is with Gibson dual blade minis (Al5 and ceramic) and they make for some awesome tones. (Regular minis have a blade slug in one coil and 6 screw slugs in the other.)

I bought this Anniversary Sheraton a month or so ago and it is without question a top tier professional instrument. I have always liked the Sheraton because it is an original Epiphone model, not a copy of a Gibson model. Epiphone introduced it to compete with Gibsons 335. Anyway, the trem on it is fabulous - much smoother than a Bigsby. Killer looking guitar as well. The finish and construction are flawless. My only disappointment is that I wish they would have used rosewood or ebony. It's a beautiful instrument that I'm totally happy with.

PLEASE REVIEW THE CRESTWOOD CUSTOM AND THE ZEPHYR!!!
The Crestwood custom appeals to be as it's as Epiphone as you can get. Really only the TOM bridge is inherited from Gibson.
The Zephyr has "NY humbuckers" I'm sure they are just vintage style pickup rings to make them look like the original NY single coils that looked like mini-humbuckers, but I'd like to watch you find out

This is just amazing, I was excited when they announced the 150th anniversary series and had no idea you were going to review the Sheraton which is one of my favourite guitars! Also love the random The Beatles cover in the demo haha

My first guitar was an Epiphone arch top double f hole. My dad got it for me in 1964 for Christmas. I didn't know much about guitars and I was disappointed because I wanted an electric guitar. The guitar was used and all he could afford. At age 76 I am still playing so I guess Epiphone got me started a few years ago. It was made in Kalamazoo.

I owned the 1962 Sheraton reissue and it is virtually identical to the one in your demo. It did not stay in tune very well and I ultimately traded it for other equipment. I am surprised they issued the same guitar for another anniversary date.🤔

Very nice guitar but, it would look far better without that ugly "E" on the pickguard. I'm glad they left it up to the customer to decide where to install the pickguard with the limited edition ES-345 several years back.

Got a 335 Figured Epiphone a couple years ago. In a blindfolded matchup against a similar Gibson, I think it would probably do pretty well. The thing sounds and plays beautifully.

I just received my 150th Anniversary Sheraton and it is stunning. It oozes style. The new headstock is a perfect match for this guitar. All the upgrades I would have done come stock. Build quality is top notch. If you’re looking for a full size semi-hollow definitely put this one on your list to check out.

Epiphone had a Wilshire model a few years ago you can still buy for under £400. And you can buy an 80’s Sheraton for way less than this new one. These prices very much surprised me

My Epiphone Les Paul classic 1960 reissue is a real player, I had a friend wanna trade his Gibson Les Paul custom Black Beauty for it. Epiphone has really stepped it up, I'm buying an SG soon I'm not sure if I'm going Epiphone or Gibson yet.
