Man I didn’t realise how much work there was in packing a BASE jump parachute , I have watched quite a few videos and I still can’t grasp the procedure, how ever sky dive pack jobs seem so much easier than this , what’s the difference in packing and why . ?
Well I’m short, packing for base is a lot more like packing a reserve. We don’t have a backup in base. Specific differences I would just suggest watching the vid and comparing to your sky pack job. 👊🏽
What's the advantage of doing the reduction fold asymmetrically, like is shown the first way? If there's a chance of it causing an off heading, why not just take a few seconds more and do it the second, and symmetrical, way?
sarge4826 it’s just easier to pack with that fold. Eventually you will learn by experience if that method works for you. If it does not then you can go ahead and use the more symmetrical method. I think just by you asking that question and having a concern it would be best for you to do the more symmetrical method. This will probably make you more comfortable.
