it's so much faster! his voice is incredible though. my word. i cannot express in words how remarkable these words are though. where do you come up with words like that? woah. the shins rock.
Nice camera work too, compared with many other concert videos of various groups. It is nice to see someone who gives close-ups of the different instrumentalists performing as we hear them in turn, quite a change from some musically-challenged camera people who couldn't tell the difference between a keyboard and a bass if either of them hit them in the face. I always wondered how that ending keyboard part went, I thought it was just noodling around on a pentatonic scale... NOPE! Great!
That was a gorgeous performance... I was a bit worried because the version on the recording (Chutes Too Narrow) is so completely excellent and wonderful in every way, that I thought there was no way it could be re-created live. Well, the vibe here is more pensive and less aggressive and bursting with energy than the recording, but I am pretty sure this is completely intentional. They wrote the song, after all... they can re-interpret it however they like! Still a beautiful performance.
@seanybooboo ahahaha he does the same thing to me!! LOVE LOVE LOVE him! Im sooo lucky to have met him like 5 times!! I have the BEST pic EVER with him! And he gives the best best hugs too..even for a lil skinny guy..ooh dear me.. i love him so much....sigh....
The duet between the bass and lead guitars that goes on in this song is like two firebirds flying in a love dance.
of course he’s fantastic live lol. god damn. effortless
one of my favourite songs from The Shins
*clap clap clap clap clap clap* WOO !
Lol 5years later that made my day for some reason...ty
I believe this is the best take of this song available.
the great remains of a friendship.....scarred
Found them in 2010 when I was 17. Truly underrated but its like knowing a sacred secret having them not be so mainstream
This may be the greatest band ever!
It is!
love this song so much

Missed them last time in Melbourne I will never forget myself for that
Brilliant performance.
The best I have seen them perform this track, or any track for that matter
I'm a man and I think the Shins might be one of the most under-rated bands of the last decade
I found them on yo gabba gabba after my kid was born! The 2 best things that ever happened to me lol!
the guitar player is awesome!!!
So poetic. Awesome crescendo.
i just wish they had one more chorus at the end!!!!
Chills.
una de esas canciones con las que no sabes si gritar, llorar, saltar, tirarte y sentir el pasto o correr...

This is their best song still, and the closest to letting the guitars have their way with Mercer's music, which is good.

the fact that you FEEL less manly for liking the shins is what makes you less manly, not the fact of liking them, bromine.
What instrument Eric Johnson plays on this vid (and other songs like A Comet Appears)?
Just got it. That's a lap steel guitar.
@Steoandnoodles1 Okay i think hes pretty high up there too
this is a brilliant lyric. it sucks me in 100 precent
He is writing everything but on this one he lets the guitarist loose, and it's great. Then, he changed direction.
a bit of an exaggeration on that last statement, but quite good nonetheless.
i feel less manly knowing that I am probably one of the shins only male fans
Dude don’t and there’s a lot of them
