    What about the Power Amp simulation in the amp block? Don't you have to have this turned off to run into an amp and cab? How do you set that for running both at the same time like this?

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I leave it on. You need it so the amp sounds correct when sending signal to FOH.

      Hmmm… What if amp doesn’t have an effects loop and you plug directly into the amp’s input jack. Wouldn’t the amp’s bass, treble and mids, color the sound ?

    Awesome, you just perfectly explained the setup into an amp ( as a stage mon) and FOH. I'm expecting the FM3 tomorrow and will just have to fiqure it all out like we all do. Thank you for this, I only wish I could have heard it in your rig rundown.

    I am listening to all of your FM3 tutorials, SUPER helpful. I would love to hear how it sounds from the amp as well. I followed this setup using my Mesa Express 5:50 head into the Return, and it did not sound nearly as good as it does through my headset jack out of the FM3, very muddy/bassy... Maybe better EQ-ing within the FM3 is needed depending on the amp being used? I am a novice using the FM3 so any help greatly appreciated.

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use the global EQ out of output 2 to help tailor the sound going into an fx return. I find I always will need to do this with different amps. Not all FX loops are the sme.

    Do you have power amp modeling enabled?
    Seems that you would either need to have it enabled, which would not be ideal for running into an amp's effects loop, or you would need to have it disabled, which would not be ideal for running into the cabinet block.

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I keep my power amp modeling enabled. I don't think it's necessary to turn it off in the situation in this video.

  • @CarlosFerreiraOfficial
    @CarlosFerreiraOfficial ปีที่แล้ว

    Good and clear info. Would it be possible to use Out 2 without the amp block as well? I mean, full modelling to Out 1 and no amp and cab block to Out 2 to connect to amp's input (and not the effects loop)?

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can absolutely do that. Just connect the out 2 block to a shunt connected to the input 1 block. Make sure the out2 knob is fully clockwise for unity gain and no signal loss

    Hi Rosh,
    What if your backline is a FRFR speaker, and want to use Output 2 for that. Would TRS 1/4inch to XLR adapter work if you put the Cab before Out 1 & 2?

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey M.A.
      yes you can do that and just reverse where the output blocks are placed. Note that converting from 1/4 inch with an adapter to XLR will result in a lower overall output. Just turn up the knob and/or FRFR speaker to compensate

    Hi Rosh, great video! I'm playing my FM3 via Boss Katana Artist 100 at church through the Return Loop which goes into behringer x16 for FOH. However, by doing so, the output level of my sound is very low and i have to push the AMP level on FM3 at -2db or even 0 at times. Or, i would need to drastically increase the volume from the scenes' output level. The gain level on the channel in the behringer x16 for my guitar is almost at 24db. Any tips how this can tackle? I haven't yet tried the instructions you gave in this video and wondering if by bypassing the cab on the FM3 when going through the return loop would help also. Looking forward to your reply.

      @@RoshRoslin Thanks for your quick reply. Below my settings:
      - FM3 output 2 to Return effect of Boss Katana.
      - Signal from Boss Katana goes directly to the Behringer x16; No micing
      - From the Behringer x16, my signal is distributed to FOH and stage sound.
      - Before seeing your videos my patch from FM3 is setup as follows : COMP> Vol> Drive> AMP> CAB > Modulation effects> Output1 (copied to output2)

    Do I need to change anything in the settings? Using a Seymour Duncan powerstage and a 4x12 cab. We will use a frfr speaker at practice. I want to use this set up. I’m also using Fishman Fluence moderns. Do I need to change anything to compensate for the hot pickups?

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The FRFR speaker will get signal from out1 and the power amp will get signal from Output 2. If you also want to go to FOH you can either use the other Left/Right output from 1 that is not going to the FRFR cab or use an output from your FRFR cab. Most FRFR cabs have an output that links to FOH

    Is it possible to do this with stereo cabs? If I run stereo effects into the cab block will this stay stereo for front of house?
    Ideally I would run output 2 to 2 separate power amps and cabs but I'm wondering if running the effects into the cab block (for output 1) would sum everything to mono.
    Hope this makes sense!

      Yes, just make sure to pan the cabinets correctly and use a stereo cab block which also has stereo inputs. Ping/Pong delays etc will be panned between both cabinets and sent to FOH

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to have two independent signal paths. One for the FX loop with a real amp, using input and output 2 blocks. Then Input 1 -> output 1 would be the amp sim to front of house with a cabinet block. You'll need an A/B switch to go into both the front of your guitar amp and the FM3 instrument input

      If you are interested in a brief update...and in case you are in the market for a new toy, I ended up buying a FM9 - it's a beast. Better than the FM3 and Ampero II which I also bought, but quickly returned. Ironically however, the cheap Ampero II had a better UI and touchscreen. I also bought a MG-30 for $200. It is a great deal for that price. The FM9, as great as it was went back too- sold (no loss at all.) I could not live with the dated UI- not for $1800. When they update that, I will replace it. In the meantime, the MG-30 is holding me over.

    Great video as usual. To be honest the Fm3 dsp power is a bit ridiculous. 70% (as showed in your video) for a bunch of blocks is a waste of money. Maybe someone has less demanding needs from a digital unit but guys compared to Fm9 the Fm3 has no reason to exit and to me it doesn't give any advantage to Fractal "supertech" reputation.

    • @RoshRoslin
      @RoshRoslin  ปีที่แล้ว

      The newer firmware updates actually use less DSP. The FM3 was the first floor unit in this generation of Fractal Products, with the FM9 coming out -years- later. Now that I have both, the FM3 is mainly used as a smaller footprint unit for fly dates and such.
