I dont think fans are thinking about you making a better thing, upping your previous achievements. Most are happy just watching ANY content because what makes them happy is YOU. I don't think content creators should focus so much on the expectations of the minority instead of the wants and needs of their community. But improving oneself is always good and it's amazing both of you keep working on yourselves
I totally have had those moment where a co-worker would ask, "You watch any sports?", and then I'd reply "No, not really." And that would be the end of the conversation. Why can't anyone simply ask, "You watch anime?" The struggle is real lol
Matara was right, Mint's impression of Pinnochio was based on the Shrek one and not the Disney one! And hearing Mint's trauma from the Bug's Life attraction was so funny, everything she said about it was true lol
1:11:00 Listening to music by itself is so therapeutic. One thing that I like to do is that once every 2-ish weeks I grab a hammock and I lay down and listen to music for hours, with no distractions and without checking up my phone. It is such an underrated activity. I swear, we are living in this era where we always need to have some podcast or video essay going on in the background while we do something else and that has devalued music so much. We have forgotten how nice just listening to music is. It really clears your mind. I highly recommend anyone reading to make some time in your busy week to have an intimate moment with just you and a music player, I guarantee that you will have a fantastic time.
When it comes to burnout I think I burned out of my job and studies last year but I just cant afford to quit anymore. The economic crisis here is at it's peak and being unemployed is just unthinkable. A lot of my free time I should be studying, making papers or homework. I hope the future is gonna be better, watching vtubers and enjoying food or drinks is my favorite way to destress 🙏
I watched a lot of TED talks at some time, and the 2 interesting things I got out of that is that for conversations the 4 main topics most commonly relatable are Family, Work, Hobbies just like Mint says, and Traveling. The other is more about articulating strings of topics in answers. So for example "pinochino, blah blah, places, travel, specific hobby fun" in a sentence, and then the other person has different things to attach into to feed into the conversation as it becomes an enjoyable ping pong dance. Fluency is marvelous when it comes naturally, but definitely a trainable skill.
pinacoladdio is my favorite fairytale ive been dealing with burnout recovery after getting laid off over a year ago, and it's been a rocky road back to normalcy. deliberately pacing yourself and changing environments, like you two talked about, have been critical for getting my headspace in a better place. thanks for another episode ladies, see you next week!!!!
I always face burnout from stretching myself too thin and suddenly not liking anything I do. Makes me wish I could just get really obsessed with one idea or thing like so many other people, really enjoy it, become a master on the topic, and focus on it like my life depends on it. Doing something new however usually fixes it, but just adds to the problem, then one hobby fades away 😅 The real fear is that I'm usually feeling like a tourist to a hobby. When I start getting questions from someone who actually has the same hobby but knows so much more it is so terrifying. Makes me feel like I'm lying like Piniocchio because I said I do the hobby, but in reality I just kind of do it passively.
As someone who is currently with a million proyects because of college, I really appreciated that you two talk about how to KIIIINDA "get over" burn out, specially in the creative field, I might try to take some walks or something to scratch the brain and see how to end this semester with a bang
Great podcast as always! This topic really resonated with me, since I have a full time job, and am very active/ have other hobbies outside of content creation, that burnout is something I'm constantly fighting against. I had some videos get picked up by the algorithm last year, but wasn't able to capitalize on them because I got too burned out trying to draw all of my own videos, combined with some real life stress. But coming back to it, I've taken more effort to work smarter, not harder. One piece of advice I suppose I'd give for people facing burn out in creative fields is to learn how to delegate and trust some work to other people. I've started working with other artists to keep content coming out without killing myself with work, as well as reaching out to friends or other creatives I know for help or advice while doing things like writing or drawing. Besides that, periodizing my hobbies helped a lot too, jumping from one hobby to another throughout the year to keep me from getting too stressed out about one or another. Also changing up the routine of where I work on stuff, like sometimes I'll also go to a coffee shop for a pinocinno as I draw or write. But thanks again for the episode!
- 0:17:27 - The first two Silent Hill games are true horror classics, but, despite what Matara says, they certainly don't over-explain everything. Even after two decades, very few people can precisely describe the exact parameters that determine how every ending is reached in Silent Hill 2, lol. 😱🤔 - 0:27:22 - Pacing oneself is definitely important. A significant number of the oldest Vtubers (particularly those active for at least six years as of 2024) seem to end up streaming or posting a video only once every one or two weeks nowadays. 📉🙁 - 1:09:28 - By the same token, never kill yourself over your job. Instead, go get cheered up by seeing Figaro the cat in the classic animated Pinocchio movie. 😺😂 Thank you for the podcast, Mint and Matara! 🌿👻🪳
I'm pretty sure I'm getting burnt out by my job now, you guys are killing me with your podcasts being exactly the things I need to hear all the time, I'm now coming up with ideas to address it!. Also Pignookeeoh is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time, so awesome tangent.
Burn out from constant rejection? 100% Its not like I’ve auditioned for things 39 times over 3 years now and haven’t gotten a single interview. That would be crazy. Especially if I make sure to change it up, modify, gain more experience, and improve upon / fix previous mistakes. My dream is still alive, it’s fine. It’s just an ember now vs the fire that it was. I’ll keep trying to stoke it though. One day. Maybe things will change.
Guy in tech here. I played badminton for like 3 weeks, i played handball for 2.5 years and i play pingpong with friends if there is a pingpong table where we are. There was a pingpong table at my IT school so i played almost daily for 2 years there
I love the tangents, who even has linear conversations anyways? It reminds me of this time a japanese rapper friend of mine was trying to teach me how to sew, and he pointed at a little cushion he brought and said "Pin, Oki, yo."
I finally got to sit down and watch this one and while I don’t normally comment, I feel like a lot of the last bits applied to me and its nice to know y’all feel the same. Changing things up and taking things a bit slowly has really helped with recent burnout! Just to list a few of the things that I think have helped me!! I’ve been trying to do more silly fanart between projects and commissions, I’ve actually started making my bed again after over a year of just rolling in and out of bed, and I’ve been tracking how much water I’ve been drinking. All very small steps but it’s been helping me get back into a groove and I’m starting to feel more productive / willing to take on harder tasks! As silly as it sounds, I’m starting to feel human again, “im a real boy” like Pinocchio LMFAO Anyways love you all so much, keep working hard. You two have fundamentally changed my life for the better. Thank you 💚
Thanks for the podcast episode! You both shared a lot of good tips about how to combat burnt-out feelings. Something you brought up that has also worked for me (most of the time) is going to sleep. Especially if I'm stressed and my mental is in a bad place, taking a nap or just calling it a night has helped me most of the time. At least, it's never made me feel worse! Also Pinnocchio (I got the 2 c's right, but there was only 1 n)
The idea of "when are you gonna top that?" is reserved for people who already did great things in the first place, and I think that's a good thing to remember. Even if the pressure you're putting in yourself is more internal than external a lot of times, and that your job makes you all feel like chasing the next great thing, never forget that. Thanks for another episode of Mint & Matara's Therapy Special featuring theme parks and pinono lmao.
Great episode! My thing I do when I get burnt out is go to my local coffee shop and get a large Mint Chocolate Matara Pinocho. Definitely a REAL and correctly spelled drink 💯
As someone with out a creative bone in my body I experienced burnout from school work in engineering. I would get angry in class and my whole day would be ruined because of class. My solution came from the pandemic and being forced onto a break from school. This helped me refocus and find new motivation to finish my degree. Also I am a nerdy guy but I played the stereotypical American sports in high school like American Football, Wrestling, and Track and Field.
When everyone was trying to buy home gyms during the pandemic I bought a DDR machine from a closed arcade. Best purchase I ever made! I've dropped SO MUCH WEIGHT. Highly recommend it and can provide advice for arcade cabinet maintenance if needed! Also pinocchio? EDIT: OH WAIT THAT IS HOW IT'S ACTUALLY SPELLED WHAT?? It had the red squiggly under it so I thought I was good. Uhhhhhh. Uh. UH. PINOHKEYOH. Nailed it.
thanks for the episode mint and matara! i have actually been feeling burnt out with uni work recently (one more essay left then i'm done for the year though!!) so this came out at the perfect time. i'm not sure how pinochio is meant to help with burn out though....
I was at ACEN, and I think I was also at that voice over panel. It was Tony Oliver's panel with Kaiji Tang, or it was the finals for a voice over contest. I can't believe I was (potentially) in the same room as mint and didnt even know, thats wild. I hope she haunts my next con too!
When Matara brought up the story involving the shoe makers, it reminded me of an episode of "Dexter's Laboratory" where Dexter got shoe gnomes to help fix and make his boots. Dexter had to get rid of them by the end of the episode by literally kicking their butts while wearing boots.
I am always super tempted to think i gotta produce something that tops all my past work, but i have to tell myself its okay to just make stuff for fun and that not everything has to be a masterpiece. Matara is very right about enjoying the process. not everything will be your pinnochio, but you can atleast enjoy each thing you do.
Also depends on life. I have kids after taking care of them, video games, and shows/movies not much time left. I wish I had more time for Warhammer 40k and minitures. Also, big football fan
I am amused at how Matara, a roach, is scared of Haunted Houses, and Mint, a ghost, is scared of Bugs Life ride. They are made for each other aren't they
I played a lot of DDR in high school and college. I probably should buy a machine to have in the house. Badminton was maybe a few weeks until it got old, but the aerodynamics of it was fascinating. Unpredictable like Pinocchio? Maybe. There have been way too many of those movies.
14:35 tbf, even though the title of the game is Five Nights at Freddy's, and the bear is on the cover, it could be a thing like Frankenstein where that's the name of the creator, and the creation is technically Frankenstein's monster.
Like in a lot of different things it's a matter of properly listening and understanding ourselves, right? Don't ignore the little things, pay attention. If your head is completely scrambled though I would advice something similar to what Mata does; having a walk around. Ideally choose a quiet place with some green -I recommend not listening to music or checking your phone though. Walk around or just sit there and try focusing on your breathing instead of thinking for five minutes or so. That's my advice! 👍 Pinocho out o7
Changing your lifestyle and trying new things can be hard or scary. There's no shortage of excuses. But the insidious thing with burn out is how sometimes it's just inevitable unless you take that step out of your comfort zone. This is more aimed at everyone in general, but you can do this! pinochhyo
I’m more in a state of wishing I was burnt out. I miss having projects that challenge me and let me be creative, and I’m not lying like tengu. I miss being stressed.
since it got talked about, i have trauma related to the pinocchio ride at disneyland, my mom took me on it when i was like 3 years old and it emotionally scarred me for several years afterwards, i didn't go on the ride again until i was like 16 😭
One thing that can help with burnout is reminiscing about past achievements. For example, I made it to the finals of a county wide spelling bee in fifth grade. The last word was peanoekeeyo. I didn't win...
Pinokio is an 1883 story about wooden puppet come to life by Carlo Collodi. The Elves And The Shoemaker is the first of a set of three fairy tales titled "Die Wichtelmänner" collected by the Brothers Grimm.
Dont let today's episode distract you from the fact that Mint beat Matara at Wrestletuber 2024 😉
Mint's smaller body was the perfect disguise, for it actually contained INFINITE power.
lol
Poor Doki, has to deal with all the security they unalived...
Mint didn't forget the basics of CQC.

You may extend a little bit with your answer
"Not really, but I watch quite a lot of Anime, do you watch any Anime?"
@chengkay1894 absolutely don't wait for someone else to bring it up. Follow up the conversation or segway.
Mint: "Yes, I can!"
Matara: "No, you can't!"
"WATCH ME!!"
Matara was right, Mint's impression of Pinnochio was based on the Shrek one and not the Disney one! And hearing Mint's trauma from the Bug's Life attraction was so funny, everything she said about it was true lol

Are we burnt out?
Well Matara and Mint have both appeared in onigiris show...
Mints FREDDY really really got me this might be my favourite episode and Matara needs to play thru Bloodbourne Pinnokio
Thank you for this amazing podcast Mint
thanks for the episode mint and matara! i have actually been feeling burnt out with uni work recently (one more essay left then i'm done for the year though!!) so this came out at the perfect time. i'm not sure how pinochio is meant to help with burn out though....
Thank you for this! I had a lot of fun watching today ❤❤
I can't believe Matara mixed up the Keebler Elves with Pinokkomon.
Gotta real boy 'em all!
I was surprised by their 30 minute tangent on Ultron singing 'I got no strings', but it made sense in the end 😉
When Matara brought up the story involving the shoe makers, it reminded me of an episode of "Dexter's Laboratory" where Dexter got shoe gnomes to help fix and make his boots. Dexter had to get rid of them by the end of the episode by literally kicking their butts while wearing boots.
Audio only listener here. DDR mentioned again let's goooooo!!!!
EDIT: I typed this Pinocchio without googling
I am always super tempted to think i gotta produce something that tops all my past work, but i have to tell myself its okay to just make stuff for fun and that not everything has to be a masterpiece. Matara is very right about enjoying the process. not everything will be your pinnochio, but you can atleast enjoy each thing you do.
Missed the lived feed. Great podcast episode
I’m so thankful for Pinokeeoh’s hard work; making all those shoes in the wee hours of the night.
Also depends on life. I have kids after taking care of them, video games, and shows/movies not much time left. I wish I had more time for Warhammer 40k and minitures. Also, big football fan
1:50:00 I feel called out....
It's Rock Climbing
And I have a friend in IT who does DDR
Thanks for the episode! That Pinocchio reference was certainly unexpected!
I am amused at how Matara, a roach, is scared of Haunted Houses, and Mint, a ghost, is scared of Bugs Life ride. They are made for each other aren't they
That is how Pinocchio sounds in Shrek, if it was intentional, it would have been a pretty good impression lol
Bro that hidden Pinocchio scene in kh 1. I can't believe I missed it every time
1:24:30 that's how FIght Club started, thanks for advice. Пинокио would be a good fit for it
Little late but just finished the episode! I loved the part when Mint 피노키오'd Matara
thanks for the video, I especially liked the poenoeshio recap
Yesterday I was walking my demons when I saw Pinocchio.
Matara reminds me of my auntie cause she always has some type of advice under her sleeves.
I played a lot of DDR in high school and college. I probably should buy a machine to have in the house. Badminton was maybe a few weeks until it got old, but the aerodynamics of it was fascinating. Unpredictable like Pinocchio? Maybe. There have been way too many of those movies.
Mint watching MatPat is something I didn’t know I needed to know
I can't believe I had Pinocchio spoiled for me. My disappointment is immeasurable and my upcoming movie night with the boys is ruined.
Pinocho out o7
I have no strings to hold me down like Pinocchio.
You know, my grandma used to keep a Pinocchio Puppet in the fridge next to the deodorant and lobster bisque.
Haven't seen Pyngnocchio in a while. Might do it.
Pinot Kyo is the wildest new Vtuber concept.
I'd take on Pinocheeto's curse just to get a starbucks in the Japanese town I'm living in, closest is around 2 hours away
yooo i love City and Colour, Sometimes is my fav album by them. Mata based.
Dang it mom, you got me with table tennis and DDR.
Ping Pong and Rock Climbing are the 2 for me
Is this just about VTubing, or is it about burnout in general? Because that discussion is way overdue. In any case, I can't wait to watch this.
p 🚫🗝o
Great podcast. It's a pleasure to listen to you both every time!
I am that short friend and I'M COMMIN ATCHA WITH THE STEEL STEPPY STOOOOL!
Lmao "Minecraft part 17" 😂
I heard Pinocchio was a blast at bachelorette parties.
When they talked about pinocio, I legit had war flashbacks.
I went to an Orchestra yesterday Pinokieoh and had some nice brick oven pizza
Changing your lifestyle and trying new things can be hard or scary. There's no shortage of excuses.
But the insidious thing with burn out is how sometimes it's just inevitable unless you take that step out of your comfort zone. This is more aimed at everyone in general, but you can do this!

HOLY SHIT IM A GUY IN TECH THAT CLIMBS 😭😭😭 i felt so called out HAHAHHA i lied to myself saying im not a guy in tech but i felt like pinnochio HAHA
Dinosaur at WDW is terrifying I almost got stuck on it twice 😭
peenokeo was a puppet made of wood whose nose would grow larger when he lied.
I’m more in a state of wishing I was burnt out. I miss having projects that challenge me and let me be creative, and I’m not lying like tengu. I miss being stressed.
since it got talked about, i have trauma related to the pinocchio ride at disneyland, my mom took me on it when i was like 3 years old and it emotionally scarred me for several years afterwards, i didn't go on the ride again until i was like 16 😭
Matara, you're right about the Shrek Pinokeyo voice. It also sounds like Southpark's Mikey Mouse voice.
Sometimes I wake up at night and I see the shadowy visage of pwnohkioh just standing there... MENACINGLY
One thing that can help with burnout is reminiscing about past achievements. For example, I made it to the finals of a county wide spelling bee in fifth grade. The last word was peanoekeeyo. I didn't win...
I can't wait til I get burnout and eat it away with my pal peanut gnochio
Thank you for the episode hope everyone has a good week!
I cant believe Mint definitely totally absolutely spolied Silent Hill 2 for Matara
I feel like a small, wooden creature that's a bottom would have the nickname "Pegnocchio"
Pinokio is an 1883 story about wooden puppet come to life by Carlo Collodi. The Elves And The Shoemaker is the first of a set of three fairy tales titled "Die Wichtelmänner" collected by the Brothers Grimm.
1:15:26 As a guy in tech, I'm in the sixth camp, Magic the Gathering.
The Story Matara was thinking was "The Elves and the Shoemaker"
The silent hill 2 part really just reveals that matara needs to play more games
I will now pull this comment from ancient TH-cam since matara was laughing so much during this podcast.
So here it goes: "Is matara high on the weed?"
You all joke/ plug about the podcast being great for Monday blues. But man has this podcast really help me get through the week
