Imagine being a baby bird that only knows warmth and good food, and the next thing you know you are being tortured to death. And I don't care about your platitudes about Nature. I already know that.
Was thinking the exact same thing. You're never prepared for the bad so when it comes to such a young and innocent creature, one can only imagine the trauma and confusion it must feel.
Really does play out exactly like a horror movie. The Eagle appears out of nowhere in a flash, instantly whiplashing the mood into pure terror. The slightly larger chick is forced to stay perfectly still and quiet for the small chance that the Eagle will forget about it and leave, but to no avail. A slow and brutal death ensues while the smaller chick underneath is forced to watch, and only survives because it hid under the body of their sibling while they were being mutilated
Thats no eagle, its a hawk. It's sad that that happened but people need to remember thats nature and everything gotta have SOMETHING to eat even if another life has to be taken... You know, the hawk may have a nest of its own with mouths to feed. Natures gonna be nature weather theres a cam or not
If you watch it in slower motion the chick that was left was the lesser developed one. It’s not a hematoma it’s just the downy fluff still over it’s eyes. It was under the larger more developed chick the whole time and the hawk never touched that one but unfortunately now that it knows where the nest is I am sure it will come back for the second one. Hopefully it will be lucky and the hawk won’t be back. It’s too bad they are beautiful birds but I guess that’s just how nature works sometimes.
It is an unfortunate sight, but the language of nature is like this. I look at his mother with a lot of fear and amazement. She does not want to leave the remaining bird. It is a mysterious world, even in birds. ❤️👍
That eagle will come back for sure to the nest. We used to have a bird nest in our balcony with 2 chicks on it but unfortunately had same fate on the video. 😥

Not likely. For starters, the survivor probably wouldn't have dwelled on it. As an adult it would have no memory of how it's sibling was taken, but the sad fact is that it was probably eaten itself later. Hawks have great memories when it comes to remembering where it found a nest, so it probably returned to get baby #2 once it was done with #1.

yes. birds are surprisingly intelligent in general - but it should be obvious, i think, that a bird which evolved to kill things... knows how to kill. all predators understand how to suffocate prey.
@@mirrepoix Yeah, suffocation by smothering maybe. Even big cats who suffocate by crushing the windpipe wouldn't rise to this level of intelligence. The eagle seems to purposely bend only one claw around its preys neck, while applying pressure by shifting its bodyweight. That is how humans apply a chokehold in jiu jitsu, it's the most sophisticated technique of how to choke somebody. It would be the equivalent of a lion applying a rear naked choke on a zebra instead of biting its neck. This is just too unlikely and unreasonably smart. Probably just coincidence
