When I was young, I worked for a seed company that was developing new varieties of vegetables. Cucumbers and sweet corn mostly. I learned what people liked about these. If the taste, texture and vigor didn't cut it then it was over. No more time was wasted on growing bad seeds. It was a fun job. I tasted raw sweet corn that was how they compared it. They never cooked it. Too bad it was seasonal. There was less than a dozen full time employees. If I were growing peppers maybe I would skip that one.
