The plenty of wire comes with it. and you can buy more but you cant use just any old wire

Where do you recommend we buy foam?

Look in the insulation department of your local building supply store for 4ft x 8ft sheets of the white beaded EPS insulation foam. Some brands have a Mylar coating that you will need to peel off. If you are doing detailed work like cobblestone walls or making your own buildings then the pink Foamular brand foam is best.
