Im playing with the deck with universal board breakers , and without hand traps, for the exact same reason, since the release. Even without fiendsmith, the snake eye deck can play through 1-2 hand trap, and if they go full ham, i can't beat it with 1-2 starter card.
So i just play Talent, bystials, droplets, which all of them good for first and for second. And without fiendsmith, i play super poly, because the ED is not that tight, and prosperity because the deck is not superconsistent.

Thanks for the kind words, i appreciate it! (Im answering german stuff in english so everyone can understand what im writing) :)
The problem with cards like lava golem and kaiju are that the alternatives are just way better.
while you can just tribute for example the big fiendsmith fusion monster with a kaiju.. thats not enough.
and lava golem has a lot more impact BUT the cost of your normal summon is a big big downside because the normal summon is still important and the best decks currently play a lot of it!
on top of that, even lava golem wont be enough.
the princess is still live and the IP into S:P
and yubel has Phantom, The big fusion and Apollousa on the field with rage in the GY(!)
so you cant even get rid of a everything on the board, cant normal summon and you still have to battle a lot of interruptions!
so i thought to myself : why would i take that risk and even if its successful, its not a guarantee to be enough when i just can play cards like Dark ruler, talents, droplet etc.
i hope i could explain it a little bit better :)

Super gerne!

I found that too many hand traps would just wind up bricking me all the time and/or often leave me with redundant copies in hand. After taking out many of them I find the deck is way better for me overall, and I still draw enough reliable interaction to hinder my opponent while keeping maximum options open for my engine plays.
Still in the early stages of experimenting but right now I've got two rough versions going. My main deck that I've found most reliable has 3 ash 2 droll 2 veiler 2 imperm and 1 called by, and I use the blue tear black goat combo. Thinking of replacing Imperm with either talents or another hand trap, but not sure.
I have another that is way rougher and not play tested enough that has 3 ash 2 droll 2 veiler 2 talents 1 called by and 3 super poly with Loving Defender over Apollousa. Still using black goat combo. I had great success with super poly at locals eating entire boards, and I figured if the meta was transitioning back to board breaking, might as well take advantage of the best deck to put it in. Also, super poly can be used to steal your opponent's Fiendsmith board at multiple points. I've been looking at Dark Ruler and Spellbound as well, but I feel like both of those are more side-deck worthy than main.
I tried 2 spirit, but I missed the third one too much to stay that way. I'll tell you what I haven't missed 3 of though, and that's Samsara and DBB, put both to 2 and haven't felt bad yet. Maybe I'll put Samsara back to 3, but I haven't felt any repercussion for it being at 2 yet.
I've tried using Ultimate Nightmare recently, and I've honestly found some good use of it in a lot of duels. I feel like it's definitely the first card I would cut, but it comes in handy and I don't consider it a total brick to draw when it can make a phantom. The most reliable way I've found to get him out is to use squirmer to pop terror incarnate, then I use terror incarnate in grave for a phantom. Probably not the ideal combo, but it has some merit I'd say. The real issue is that "when" wording, really shoots the card in the foot. I don't expect this to last, but I'm having fun using it for now.
The other thing I would consider but have had bad results with is droll at 3. I just found myself drawing 2 way too often, which was usually borderline useless. I love droll for the meta because it stops Fiendsmith engine at first Engraver search for Tractus, but the games where having two would actually be useful are few and far between, I found myself always hurting for a different card other than that second droll, since knocking it to 2 I still see it pretty consistently, but don't get clogged up anymore.
I get a little whacky with my deck building once I get more comfortable with something, not really sure how much of this if any I'll actually stick to, but I like to try and push decks rather than just play exactly what everyone else plays.

I love this, I personally to only run the 1 super poly since it’s searchable via nature chronicle! But like you said I found I have too many hand traps some days and no engine starters or not enough ways to push through. I like your idea too about the split HT to BB combo also ☺️

    • @babrad
      @babrad 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Your argument about Droll could apply to double Ash, meanwhile Droll is at least usable when they chain Wanted etc so it's not a good point.
I totally understand what you mean about handtrap ratios, however the fact it performs better for you when you use less is thanks to your own experience. When the list incorporates enough without losing its consistency, you will perform even better. It just needs some time to be optimized for TCG.
Super Poly became a lot better after Phantom, but it isn't a typical boardbreaker that you want to start your turn with. It's to close the game. Ironically it became even better interruption.
But since you play Ultimate, Throne makes Super Poly incredible when Apo isn't on the board, since you can just pop Yubel, get Terror on the board, then with priority use Super Poly to eat the entire board, then use Throne to float into Spirit and get your full combo (Terror also triggers by any removal so you don't lose a body)
The issue with the above is that the deck struggles with space. Maybe even the Fiendsmith approach isn't the correct on since it introduces so many new weaknesses to the deck it didn't have before (to that extend). They are such a powerful engine though that you have to play them.
In my testing with "pure Yubel" (big yubel engine, super poly, skill drain, droplet/eclipse/ttt) compared to "fiend link" (fiendsmith etc like in the video) i noticed i had a better winrate game 1 with pure, but it drastically dropped after siding because of blowouts. So the latter version is "safer' to use, especially against anything other than Snake. I believe we try to imitate Snakes when they just have more efficient lines. Funnily enough the "pure/control" build hasn't dropped a match to snakes yet (but losing against tenpai lol)

Making an "educated guess" that Tractus can be a 1 card combo on its own, and that we "might" get a lvl6 Fiend Fusion that replaces Beatrice, the dynamic of the deck changes drastically from what we saw in OCG. I'll leave it for next week when we can talk about it :)
I like the boardbreaker approach because I'm good at navigating boards, but it's so much worse compared to handtraps. Every new format people shift to boardbreakers then immediately go back to handtraps. Playing with boardbreakers means you guarantee your opponent will make their board, then any handtrap they have drawn is a bonus interruption. So I would advice against boardbreakers when the deck doesn't immediately autolose to said boardbreakers, and snakes don't.
This is why I also heavily disagree with 6 handtraps + 6 boardbreakers because you do both jobs poorly. 1 handtraps = nothing, 1 boardbreaker isn't enough. Even if said handtrap is Droll.
Super Poly became much better with Phantom getting you a free Yubel on the board, but THERE IS NO SPACE IN THE EXTRA. The issue I had with not having tools to break through boards was solved by Anguish/Access or Angel (depending on running Apo)
You should consider Evenly in combination with Thrust making the "combo" with DRNM even more consistent. Cosmic is underrated because people will take advantage of the boardbreaker approach to set Anti-Spell with Gryphon. Unless Blue Tears becomes the normal after siding, which will make the format extremely toxic (looking at DDG mainly). Eclipse is fine because it can play around Irae and even force it out, however it depends on whether people are running Caesar or not.
Ironically, I've been attracting Sphere/Golem like a magnet this weekend, I believe they are very good against the meta but luckily the current meta decks can't give up their normal so easily making them hard to play. I wouldn't be surprised to see an "anti meta" becoming successful using them. Note this is random online playtesting though.
The deck steadily evolves into a pile. Meanwhile, we are pushed to "just open fiendsmith" so I'm considering cutting down the Yubel engine even more and especially the Sacred Beast package bloat that takes 7 slots. BTW your updated list is identical to mine (although I play 1 pain 1 chronicle instead specifically for droll). But I want to main Bystials so badly.

    • @TrinityYGO
      @TrinityYGO  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@babrad oh yeah - is also thought about main decking bystials and tbh I think it’s good!
And yeah I agree, I think you have to play handtraps but I wouldn’t feel good with the 50/50 approach. I think for it to work effectively you need to invest more cards into a certain approach.
And.. I think with fiendsmith, board breaker aren’t that bad. The difference between 1 ash + 1 imperm (where the opponent can very very often just play through) and 1 droplet and talents or dark ruler is huge. (Especially considering the opponent can also have talents)
They will have the handtraps anyways, even if you handtrap them.
And while snake eyes doesn’t lose to 1 boardbreaker (dark ruler and droplet can both atleast give you a fighting chance if you only have one of them) they have high difficulties to play through/around 2!
And if you only see 1 non engine or 2 - I think handtraps are a HUGE gamble. If they can play through it (what they often can do even without fiendsmith currently) you lose on the spot because you just don’t have enough resources in hand to combat everything.
But there are also downsides to the boardbreaker approach too - it’s difficult to evaluate everything tbh.
The thing is that with fiendsmith it’s possible (atleast for Yubel) to push through the endboard of snake eyes (with 1 boardbreaker, if you have 2 it’s often gg anyways)
While making an endboard they cannot beat with the follow up - that wasn’t possible pre fiendsmith. It’s just 100x more difficult than the handtrap approach.
Hmm.. it seems like the opinions are really quite split in the community, a lot of people I see in DB are also not sure it seems because the decklists are all over the place.
I’m kinda standing on both sides!
      - like always, thanks for your input my friend :)
