My favorite joke in the whole game was right at the end, in the final waystation before the Ninth Underworld; they have a break room inside, and above the toaster is a sticky note that says something along the lines of, "Attention: Please butter your bagels AFTER they come out of the toaster!" Apparently not even death will save you from inconsiderate co-workers.
Manny to Eva when trying to pick up the hole punch: "Could I take your (w)hole punch??" Eva: "Hah! I doubt you could take my HALF punch" - that always cracked me up :p
@@RacerGuy450 Manny does have a good funny bone to his sense of humour that makes him a funny skeleton, and Lewis of the Mystery Skull is a big fan of Grim Fandango’s game.
@@julesf.meloborges811 Nah. It might be an adventure game, but it'd be fucking amazing to see this made (by the right studio) into a movie. I mean, it's already 100% a Noir Plus it's criminally underrated.
My personal favorite is when you examine the living people in Year 1: "I could scare them to death, but then I'd get hit with a conflict of interest rap." (or something along those lines)
Manny: "would you like to see my birthmark" , Mercedes : "It's wherever you guys put my skin" ... LOL everytime i hear that, the dialogue in this game is genius
MANNY: I think we should team up, be partners... DOMINO: Oh, Manny, I would, but I'm too intimidated. I could never be partners with someone who was so much more of a man than me... MANNY: Oh come on. I've seen your wife. (Best line everrrrr) 😂😂😂😂
“There was this one high pitched whine it was making, really grating noise you know? And I searched and searched but I couldn’t find the source of the noise until we pulled in here.”
Absolutely delighted to see this video Game Destroyer! A massive well done from a fan going back to the original release. I'm sure you get people telling you all the time about how much the game meant to them. Be that the cool atmosphere, the immersive story line, the hilarous characters or the outstanding sound track. It has it all, and when I purchased a super gaming computer last August, the 1st game I bought was the remastered version. Down through the years post 1998 I hadn't played the game for quite some time, had finished school, was in college and found myself coming up with hilarious phrases that even made me wonder of their origins. It was only when I played the game circa 2010 via VM I realized that I had unconsciously robbed a huge portion of the lines from this game. Needless to say that was a hoot to discover. An example would be the sarcastic "Taa-Daa" from the disillusioned and irritated balloon maker. I often do that when I know I've done a shit job of something, or have carried a chore out purely because I have to yet don't want to. When it's complete, then comes the "Taa-Daa". Anyways, I won't ramble, but these are the types of uploads TH-cam needs. I couldn't care less about the view / like count because you know everyone here is part of the blue casket club of cult status.
+Irish Aidan Thanks a lot for your comment! It was the second game I bought after Age of Empires 2 back in the day and I fell in love with it. It was like one of those movies you don't want to end. It has it all, like you said. In my channel I mostly prefer playing Strategy and Simulation games but Grim Fandango symbolizes to me what gaming is all about as an experience so it has an especial place here (even in my avatar). I'm glad that you enjoyed this compilation.
Grim Fandango has a way to make smart and fun dialogues. One of my favorites, I have many, is this one: Manny: “What are you doing with a snake like Nick ?” Olivia: “I’d lay it on ya, Manny, but I don’t think you’d get it.” Manny: “Messing around with your boyfriend’s lawyer is pretty dangerous.” Olivia: “Ooooh...Maybe I was wrong, you DO get it.”
If it can't run the remaster, there's a way to get it to use the original graphics which are much less intensive (I had to do that on one of my computers, once)
"oh Manny what made you lose your love if life?"
"I died."
this game is something really really special
You can see that from the character name.. It even leaves a special tone in your back of your mind

And very funny knowing how the demons of the 9th heaven temple are very friendly.
I always loved scaring the pigeons with Robert Frost
I like how much scarier he is than a dingo.
Tiny hammer is my favorite part.
I love the story and writing in this game. If it wasn’t a cryptic point-and-click adventure game, I’d totally recommend it to everyone I know.
It may be cryptic but at least it wasn’t made by Sierra or in their style.
It deserves the recommendation anyway
"Marigolds... funny...for some reason, I was expecting tulips."
"Le keg is le empty!"
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!"
These are just 3 examples of dialogue in this game. It's stupid, smart and funny all at the same time.
Manny: *laughs* Who would wear a bet buckle with their-
Membrillo: *looks at Manny*
Manny: Oh.
And why did he go "oh" you think?
Manny to Eva when trying to pick up the hole punch: "Could I take your (w)hole punch??" Eva: "Hah! I doubt you could take my HALF punch" - that always cracked me up :p
Manny's comments are what make this game amazing.
10:02 If you ask this demon “Going down”, his response will be “Probably sometime tonight”. Lol!!
Manny: "Good enough for me"
Meche: "What is?"
Manny: "Oh, uh. The um... The speed at what you're working"
Perfect dodge
Great compilation!!!.. But in my opinion the whole game is full of funny quotes...and memorable moments!!!
+vizueto69 Thanks! and I agree, it was difficult to choose the best parts.

That lingerie catalog line killed me the first time through. This game is legendary!
"Are gonna inspire and teach me on life again Domino?"
"What? Nooo."
"SLAVE LABOUR MANNY!-"
Was the funniest for me.
"You have to become one with the bandit..."
Will be my epitath
they should make a netflix show based on this !!!
I'd totally watch that
Please don't let them ruin it.
abacheese grim fandango is 90’s sitcom level script writing.
But... why?
The game is already like an interactive movie. There's absolutely no reason to adapt it into a movie/series.

Was it the blower?
No, it was Manny screaming in the back like cat tied to a cruise missile.
“why is it all men are after the same thing...
except you!!”
Charlie reminds me of Peter Lorre
According to the Developers' Commentary, that was the idea.

The Witcher 3 is the closest thing I have come to immersion
Glottis is the best mechanic in thee entire Universe

Because I can smell BURNED bones here.
Glottis sounds a lot like Jontron!
I'm guessing it's the accent?

It's the rough voice.
I've never seen this game, but it seems hilarious, I might try it
Heavily recommended.
Can't believe they never made a movie out of it?!? Awesome dialogues!!
No one dared tampering with this masterpiece, and thank fuck for that. Not even Tim Burton.

Garo The Golden Knight he’s voiced by Tony Plana. If you’ve seen Ugly Betty, you’ll remember him as Betty’s father.
Viva la Revolicion
You know what's funnier? when the video and the audio of the cutscenes lagged -- and everyone's voices got de-synced.

Hope you read this, but you really need to play the game in italian. Manny's voice is sexy and deep
I have played it in Spanish it was also great, not only Manny's voice. Interesting to know about Italian, I should watch some Italian playthrough.

Sure! Thanks for commenting!
