I owned a chappy when stationed at Edwards AFB in the Mojave desert in California back in 1976-77. This was before I sold it and purchased at new 1978 SX 750 Special. I drove the chappy from the base to Pasadena at least a half dozen times a 100+ mile trip that took about 3 hours each way. Loved the little thing. Brings back memories of foolish/fun times. Thanks for posting the video.
My dad bought one when I was little back in the late 70's. He was at Nellis AFB. We only had one car but lived near the base. So it was cheap transport to get to and from work for him. Once they bought a second car, the thing sat for years chained up in the backyard. As young teens, my brother and I got bored in summer in the mid-80's and picked the lock my dad had it chained up with. We threw a little bit of gas in it and worked the kick start forever. It fired up eventually. We were amazed. It should have been dead by all rights but it turned over. There was a lot of desert around where we lived so we had a blast with the thing. Memories. Ours was yellow with the weird pedals that never seemed to work well.
wow...beautiful old school Yamaha Chappy an inspiration...vintage classic....timeless legendary....amazing.....immaculate....awesome...the best ever....the ultimate chappy....iconic.........epic..
I have a question? I have this exact same bike! When I’m in high range the bike jerks, like it doesn’t want to go into high! Low range works perfectly! Thanks for any advice you can give!

WOW thats immaculate!! Did you restore it?
I have the identical bike, just not restored as of yet. I hope to get it done, but parts tend to be pretty costly. I'll work away on it though
