I'm always impressed by anyone who can tackle a job like this. On my best day, I'd have at least 25 pieces extra screws/pieces lying around. Nice way to spend sheltering in place. Hope everyone is safe out there.

You striped it, cleaned it ,painted it, put it back together with new parts took it for a test ride, it looks like it is brand new, you guys are incredible just amazing, and best of all love the colour. I have a couple of bikes that I will be restoring hope that I can do just as good of a job as you have done. Many thanks keep up the excellent work. Great job guys..

@ Bob Traub he is not restoring it to become an antique showpiece, rather restoring it to a fully functional machine, which needs replacing the worn out parts, like piston, bearings etc. He has retained most of the non moving parts. Or did you want him to retain the paint and rust too.

How much better would the results get? It's clean and runs great. I think it's a common misconception you need a big shop and all the best tools to get a good result or you need to take something to a certified professional. This guy proves that and i may know one or two people that do better and take pride in their work. Just because it's a big shop does mean you'll get the same result.

Keith, away from the fact that he is skilled an he knows what he is doing, did you notice that he filmed the disassembly of the engine?

It's hard to believe that someone can remember how to put together each part after disassembling everything (before TH-cam and the internet that is) let alone knowing how to make everything work back when someone was when inventing it. Engineering is incredible.

It's called a shop manual, almost everything has one. Third party companies like Haynes make them too.

These are Indian hacks. Even due to unavailability of right tools these guys can come up with something innovative.

    • @dakotadunsmore7011

I think calling this guy a hack is a real disservice to the quality of work he is doing.
From what i observed he did a phenomenal job with basic hand tools and a sand blaster.

@@dakotadunsmore7011 I'm not discrediting this guy. In our place these people with simple tools can do wonders.
If we approach the manufacturer companies, they suggest replacing the whole unit.
You will be surprized to know that a guy in my locality repaired my carburettor and saved me good amount of money. When I asked him his fee, he just took one time service fee of 150 rupees or around $2.
My bike had mileage of 35-37 kmpl and now it's 60kmpl.
We call it jugaad or economical solution. Hack won't be a proper term.

The holes you drilled in the piston.? I had a 50cc version of chappy and i changed piston to one without these holes cause the old one was done, and it run better and smoother after that. Maybe different on 80 cc? Awesome job you did, so Nice to se those classics get new life!
