Greenbacks or Threadfins? SKYWAY Fishing For Grouper & Trout!

- Greenback or threadfins? Well, they are both super effective fishing baits when fishing from the Skyway State Pier. Especially for grouper, trout, and snapper. On this day we tried both live and cut bait and it seemed like they were only interested in live baits. We fought through some pretty nasty heat, boats, and dolphins but overall t was a good day and we caught quite a few fish. How many of you have trouble with those pesky porpoises? I dropped my net there few days ago. Lol
Well it’s Dave again , went out to the pier , hard to get pinfish or grunts got a 5” grunt from the guy next to me we were both trying for big grouper, my bait wasn’t in the water 15 seconds all of a sudden we saw what looked like a 4’ ft cuda skyrocket out of the water I thought it was jumping after bait fish ! Dude my pole bent over and the fight was on I arm wrestled him for 15 minutes got him straight down below me we were ready to net it and he came off ! 😩 it was at least a 4’ king or cuda jumped two times , it started to rain , that sir is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on! 👍🏼. Tight lines guys !

We had some obstacles with the boats, heat and dolphins. It was frustrating to say the least.

They are great for grip and comfort but the dark color boots get very hot.

Damn dolphins. I hate those damn things. The bay is full of them and they eat everything. I landed a nice red over the weekend and about 10 of them showed up a few seconds after I set the hook. I had to put him in my live well and go in real skinny water before releasing him just so the damn dolphins didn't get a free meal. smh

I always get confused with greenbacks and threadfins they look so similar. are the greenies usually in those big schools too?

Well gentlemen, it looks like another fine day in paradise, the sun is shining, the fish are biting, Chris throws a nice pancake ! And you thought he was untraceable, 😂 and he finds a net. They are pretty comfortable and have amazing grip, the darker colors will get extremely hot and start cooking the feet.
You need to do a video on repairing a cast net.
Was this today? I'm always trying to find where the bait forms up like that at the piers.

noticed you had a sinker on main line - ive tried that but it always gets wrapped after a couple casts that i noticed once reeling it back in and tangled around the line that i end up needing to cut it. any tips? i have 20# braid and 30# leader

Heading out there now bro. Its 8pm. I been catching grunts at night and using them every saterday. 2 keeper gags every saterday for the past 3 weeks. Aint been able to catch big ones on anything but grunts. Weird but shhhhh. Its a secret haha

Spent so many days and nights on that pier, best luck has always been with sabiki. People around me get mackeral off the cut bait. I'm not sure these 3 fish you caught aren't edited in from years ago.. Just sayin... Grouper and trout Seems dead to me there always..
There are tons of trout and grouper, sabikis are for bait. Gotta learn the piers to have great success. All fish were from a few days ago. Just like all the other Skyway videos we have recently filmed.
