Ranger is done for this year. Phillies have 2 1/2 pitchers - Wheeler, Sanchez and half the time Nola. Not a World Series year.
Spencer Turnbull has to be the #4 starter...we have no other viable option. If he is ready, we are ok. But he hasn't pitched in months. Even so, he can't be any worse than Walker or Ranger right now.
Phillies have 3 starters going into the playoffs. And only one you can truly trust…uh oh
Blame the brain dead GM, especially when Flaherty was available and you see what he's doing for the Dodgers. And this hot and freezing cold offense is more than likely gonna have one of their patented whole lineup goes cold, episodes during the playoffs. It'll be another disappointment for us this yr 😢😑😑.
The issue is the offense. When it decides to shut down, it shuts down.

Ranger Suarez is suddenly "Danger" Suarez. The Phillies are not going to get to the World Series without strong pitching from Ranger Suarez. Sorry, Nola is going to get shelled every 2 or three starts in the playoffs like always. We are doomed in a 7-game series without Ranger. The only things that Ranger Suarez and T. Walker seem to have been throwing effectively are games in these past 2-3 months

This has been an season of mediocrity. In the AL look out for the Detroit Tigers. And in the NL the Padres look solid. Detroit is a young team who are playing solid baseball with a bunch of rookies and a All star Starter in Skubal and a very good bullpen. If the Yankees face them they will have their hands full. In the NL aside from the Dodgers it looks like the Padres will be the team to beat. It should be a very interesting couple of weeks.
Taijuan Walker as the #4 starter. Thomson loves the guy, always optimistic to give him confidence. But Dombrowski may be pulling rank on that decision. He gave Walker 72 million dollars over 4 years guaranteed & right now it looks like a terrible investment. Walker's been injured or ineffective during his first 2 years here. Can't trade him, nobody wants him, can't release him & eat all that money. So Dombrowski is stuck with him.

Since the NLDS is only a 5 game series maybe they should leave Suarez off of the roster and let him heal in the case he's injured(or just give him a long break) and run with Wheeler, Sanchez & Nola for the first round.
If we make it to the NLCS reevaluate Suarez & if he's ready put him on the roster.
Hopefully Turnball is ready to go. He looked really good prior to getting hurt.
Dodgers won today. We gotta win the next two and the Dodgers gotta lose the next two for us to get the 1 seed which i dont see happening.
Can't blame the players for feeling lifeless when their liability pitcher (aka Ranger) keeps getting shellacked.
Any player would be demoralized when it happens every single game with the same pitcher.

Maybe Ranger treated this like a spring training game where he just worked on pitches and didn’t really worry about outcomes. I trust Ranger will be ready for game 3 of the NLDS

My speculation has been that Ranger sustained nerve damage when hit on his pitching hand earlier in the season. It may improve, but I bet there will always be residual numbness to some extent 🤔🤷🏻

Ranger clearly injured. Unfortunate. Heal up my friend. Harper clearly injured. If these injuries aren’t minor, it’s too much for this group to overcome. Give it your best boys, been a long season. Go Phils!
Ranger's hurt. A back injury is like krytonite to a pitcher. Nobody knows how ready Turnbull can be. Thomson has a 'thing' for Walker, always trying to show confidence in him. And Dombrowski doesn't want to look like a fool for signing Walker to a 4-yr $72 million dollar guaranteed contract & he's been hurt or ineffective for the first 2 years. Now he's untradeable & the Phils are stuck with him. After that, it's going to be Banks, Allard, Gilbert, Lazur, Phillips, or Mercado being called up to pitch 1 inning each in a disastrous bullpen game.

They’ve proven many times they’re not a team that can flip a switch and hold that level for more than 1-2 games. Maybe next year.

Ranger was awful, but what about the offense and their approach at the plate? When you're down 6+ runs, you have to find a way to get on base, and swinging at the first pitch is not a good strategy.

He needs that velo gap between his fastball and secondaries or he is just a guy out there. I still love him but something is physically wrong. Same with Walker. Both are broken.
