      Not so sure a lawn mower can get down into the thatch layer and bring it up to the surface. A lawnmower is good to pick up the grass AFTER the lawn is dethatched.

    I put down the tenacity about 10 days back and it's doing the job with the existing weeds, it takes a while but it does the job. I also put down lime last Wednesday and then after Easter I will use starter fert and also overseed as my lawn needs it after a bit of neglect last year. Looking forward to new videos from you and also a new season of yard work.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea tenacity does take awhile to show that its working. That definitely sounds like a great plan you got going forward. Temperatures should be rising going forward so that'll help the overseed process.

    Great video and explanation. There's something about getting all that crap out of the lawn that is satisfying. I had a heavy problem with all that dead material. I got the sunjoe three years ago. The fist year I detach aggressively three different times cant believe how much crap came out. Second year did it 2 times and wasn't as much. I try it a week ago and nothing really came out. I think that the new clippings die in top of the thatch and never decompose creating more and more.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and yes that stuff build up very quickly and before you know it you'll have a thick layer of thatch smothering out your good lawn and a brown under tone that doesn't look pleasant. This was my first time dethatching this backyard and this lawn is going on 3years old this year so it was due.

  • @TanyaScorpio
    @TanyaScorpio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I cut mine then said you know it really needs to be detached so i used the other attachment that goes deeper because i think my grass really needed it. I love my Sun Joe i did it manually years ago. I said never again. I did have to rake afterwards because my mower didn't pull up the dead stuff and i cut it down to 2 inches.. hoping to fill in those patches so I'm trying to really get it right.
    Have some clovers so i think my Ph is off ugh

    I bought a similar brand but found out that it had limited effectiveness in my large yard. I needed an extension cord about 175 feet and rated high. I have a 100 footer, but when I plugged in a 75 footer to the 100, it lost a lot of power. I have a 28,000 square foot lawn and my electric machine just could not handle doing such a big yard. Great on small yards but not in big yards.
