    Grass is looking nice. Be careful with the tenacity (or any fertilizer that has Mesotrione) when seeding with a mix that has fine fescue. Tenacity is labeled to control the growth of fine fescue so that seed won't germinate. Your seed was all tall fescue blend so you won't have that problem but just FYI for people that might see this video. I overseed an area of my yard with a fescue mix that had fine fescue in it and used the same Scotts fertilizer and realized too late that I shouldn't have used the fertilizer at seeding when the grass came pretty weak.

      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Yea tenacity will definitely slow the germination of fine fescue and density

    My seed took forever this spring. But down here in PA it is finally springing up where I've seeded.

      This spring has been brutal it was still cold like it was fall so everything took a while to germinate

    SunJoe actually has an outlet store in New Jersey on Rout 17 right on the New York State border, I'm about a half hour away so I may take a drive up and check the place out. Due to an illness in the family, I put off taking care of the lawn for the last two years and the lawn went to crap. Last fall I did overseed which turned out great but this spring I applied Lime in early March, then Tenacity in early April and then about two weeks ago I overseeded and last week put down starter fert and the grass is starting to look better. I have a long way to go but I need to put down some more tenacity as the clover just doesn't want to go away then around Memorial Day a small amount of fertilizer and then start with the grub control in June and then in late summer get the sunjoe dethatcher and use it on the lawn followed by overseeding and then some more fert after that. Once the weather gets colder then I will put down lime and hope things will start turning the lawn around.

    I did spot seed with TTTF and sprayed mesotrione probably double rate accidently. It didn't slow down or kill any new grass from coming up. It did however slow down some existing grass and turn it white for about a week. With the recent warm weather that grass is back to normal.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, I learned some new stuff watching. I over-seeded parts of my TTTF lawn in Northeast USA this spring as well. Only got results in areas I have watered regularly (garden hose). In addition to being a cold spring, which you mentioned, has been a very dry spring as well. AS you mentioned, spring is always a crapshoot, hoping for better luck/results in fall.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is the major issue with spring overseeding and renovations especially in the northeast area the weather is very unpredictable. But It can be done but with extra attention and care.

  • @jonathanbenish38

    Careful not to wait too long to mow! You really should never cut off more than 1/3 of the grass blades.

    Nice video, good info, thanks. The grass looks really thick and green. It may be just the video, but it looked like there might be some areas where the grass appears to have some clumps. Wondering if that was just the affect of the grass being unmowed, or if there were weeds. Do you have any issues with Goosegrass? I am in Northeast PA and do. Have used Tenacity in the past but am going to try Agrisel Grassout Max with Clethodim in a couple of areas as a test run.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and no I'm not dealing with any weeds knock on wood lol. I haven't had to deal with goosegrass the weed of choice in my yard was crabgrass and nutsedge and some occasional poa 😡🤣. Its just the yard is overgrown and swaying over at the moment but Thank you once again for your support I appreciate it.

    Don't you use the 1/3 rule? When I've re seeded I cut after 2 weeks. Then cut on high then lower it over the growing season.Leaving it that long means you end up scalping it.just my 2 cents, or pennies as I'm in north U.K.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I use the 1/3 rule. I couldn't cut 2 weeks after seeding because it wasn't really much to cut due to the weather still being so cold so the lawn didn't really wake up until maybe 1 to 1 1/2 weeks ago. My normal cutting height is around 3.5 until summer then I move up to 3.75-4

    • @wayneessar7489
      @wayneessar7489 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A reason to set the thatcher up high and gently remove some moss is the moss will hold moisture and encourage fungus if your in a hot place with summer rain.
      An iron treatment will discourage moss if you put it on afterwards.
      The cheapest iron will do, the ferrous sulphate heptahydrate.
