LH side is white wire with a green stripe. I don’t remember what color the RH side was. What colors are on the RH turn signal bulb? I don’t own the RAV4 any more so I can’t look to see.
I am doing this install on a 2021 RAV4 LE with no fog light, like yours.. We got the DRL working and the turn signals working. We are doing the fog light itself now. We got the Nilight wiring harness and not using the the switch. I see in the video minute 17:50 you used I guess a universal connector plugs to connect to the fog light and then you tested the relay with and you had fog lights. Instead of the connector plugs, we hardwired the harness with butt connectors to the fog light. Then we used the white wire like you did to test the relay and its clicking, but the fog light are not turning on. Not sure if its the fact we didn't use connector plugs. Any tips? what do you think we may be doing wrong? Thank you.
One thing possibly… led’s are polarity sensitive. Try unwiring one of your fog lights and reversing the polarity to see if it comes on. If it does reverse then both.
@@micheldiarra7 I would suspect then that the relay is wired incorrectly. I’ll have to go back and watch my own video to refresh my memory as to how I wired it. 😂
@@micheldiarra7 One thing you can do is just hook your fog lights directly to your battery to test them. Red to the positive side of the battery and black to the negative side. Oh and that brings up something else to check… make sure the 2 wires from the relay that you hooked to the battery are wired red to positive and black to negative.
Great video, inspired me to pick up a set of the same fog light drls for my 2021 LE thanks. How's the brightness of the fog lights themselves at night when driving? I won't get my set until next week but thinking of getting the version with the bulb and drl instead of these with the 3 LED lenses if they don't illuminate much. They just look better.
@@ProjectDIY2 Thanks for the video for reference, what would you have recommended for the brighter kinds? My place gets REALLY foggy and I need real fog lights that does the job
I’m right there with ya. I have a lot of wildlife in my area that like to roam the highways at night and I’m getting ready to replace these that I installed with a set from diode dynamics. They have some that will fit in a stock rav4 fog light housing and they are extremely bright. I’ll have to source a set of housings though.
I have 2019 LE...but there is no space for extra switch...i have 3 switches already fitted from toyota...speedometer brightness...auto high beam and windshield defogger...so i have no empty spot for a switch for fog lights...whats the idea to put a switch ?
I just bought a used 2022 rave4 it came with those lights they look amazing. And are super bright. I love them. But the three lights of both sides burn out within less then a month of having them.
@@ProjectDIY2 my RAV4 LE 2020 have the factory wiring ready but the connector It’s different, also it’s ready for only put the switch on the switch connector
I see ya! I didn’t post it sorry. They looked good at night, however, they are more for looks than actual fog lights… not very bright. They lasted about 2 years and one of the fogs quit working, both turn signals were still working when I traded the car 2 months ago.
I got the same kit as you. I plan to skip the last half the project and just leave them as drls, would you tell me which colored wire on your parking lights you drew power from?
I can’t say for sure since I haven’t tried this, but I think they would work. You would need to also have the connector that goes on the back of the stock fog lights.
Great video I live near in Kenosha wisconsin. Where does your shop locate?I hope I car drive to your place to get the job done. How much do you charge for this job? I have 2024 rav4 xle
I'm getting ready to install these.. I already have stock DRL'S but one is broken from an A$$hole at walmart. I'm guessing I can just hook the hot from the aftermarket drls into the plug of the stock DRL'S.. Got any idea? ( I know I will have to tie in the aftermarket blinker wires just wondering where to get power)
I’m not sure on that. I don’t think you can use the DRL hot on the switchback box. If you did, the turn signals would only work if the DRL’s were on. I think you’re gonna have to run the switchback box hot wire back to the fuse box like I did and pick up a switched hot. The fog lights should wire into the existing fog light wiring.
I got mine all installed work great... Only thing is I cannot turn them completely off anymore like I could before... Do yours shut completely off? EDIT.. Sorry I forgot you wired in a switch mine had stock switch so you probably don't have this issue
@@XIONFPS Gotcha. I'm not sure if these will plug directly into the factory harness. If not, you will have to cut the plug off of your factory fog lights and the new fog lights and wire the factory plug to the new fog lights. I can’t give you an exact time since my install also involved filming the video too which adds a lot of time. I would guess this job would take around 2 hours for a professional.
Sorry I don’t own a hybrid but if it doesn’t already have fog lights the install should be the same. If it has fog lights already then I would look for replacement led bulbs that are brighter.
How much $$ you got tied up. I would like to do the same thing. Can you add links in the description to the products and the roll of cable. VERY GOOD VIDEO !!
So I’ve been trying to figure out why the passenger side doesn’t switch back to Anything. It only stays in Day time running lights. I’ve splice the right cable for that. And where did you put the add a fuse.
So I'm gonna have to assume that your right side turn signal does in fact work otherwise... double check the wiring for the green wire, it may be tied to the wrong wire at your turn signal bulb. There are 2 wires, a hot and a ground. It won't work if you connected the green wire to the ground wire. Switch it to the other wire and try it. I connected the add a fuse to the fuse box under the dash. It's inserted into a slot where the OEM fuse is turned on and off by the ignition. I couldn't find a switched fuse in the fuse box under the hood.
The fog lights have two pairs of wires coming out the back of each housing. One pair for the actual 3-bulb white fog/running lights and a second pair for the vertical turn signal strip light. However, you made the strip lights turn on with the main lights, but you never mentioned that you had to wire together the 2 pair to do this. This defeats the purpose of the turn signal strip lamps ! The strip lights are supposed to be tapped into their respective turn signal circuits which makes them completely independent of the fog lights use. This complicates the install, but you really should have mentioned this as well as the shortcut you took and how you did it. The turn signal strip lights are the best feature of the lights' set, but you ignored all mention of this.
Great installation video. Which fuse do you have to connect?
I used the fuse for the 12v outlet in the pocket under the heater controls.
I may be wrong, but I just bought a new V6 Limited with full leather. Now I can get back to the football game.
😂
Can you please tell me which wires I tap into to make the lights be day time running function and for the turn signals?
It’s at 6:31 in the video. When the turn signals are not on, the DRL’s come on.
@@ProjectDIY2 thanks but which wires did you tap into on the right and left side for yellow and green wire ?
