Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Stakeholders Consultation for GCF NAP Project in Rwanda

Green Climate Fund (GCF) National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Readiness and Preparatory Support for Building Flood Resilience Capacities in Rwanda Outcome 1 is capacity and coordination strengthened for main institutions to effectively mitigate floods and prevent landslides. A critical component of achieving Outcome 1, is the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) assessment that has been carried out and an action plan developed to better incorporate gender-based vulnerabilities of climate risks, especially flood and landslides. Focusing on women’s needs and their positive contributions to adaptation and disaster risk reduction and management in an endeavor to guide gender mainstreaming and social inclusion throughout the GCF NAP project. A series of consultations were undertaken both with national and decentralized level stakeholders as well as selected members of the communities in the catchment areas of the project.
