- Hey everyone, welcome to Mythology Explained. In today’s video, we’re going to discuss the seven deadly sins and the seven deadly demons who represent the seven deadly sins.
We’re going to begin by looking at how the modern conceptualization of the seven deadly sins was created; then we’re going to dive into what exactly the seven deadly sins are; and finally, we’re going to look at the seven deadly demons who represent the seven deadly sins.
Let’s get into it.
The modern conceptualization of the Seven Deadly Sins, also known as Capital Vices or Cardinal Sins, emerged from early Christian monastic traditions in Egypt, which were significantly influenced by Neoplatonist teachings from the School of Alexandria, which was located in the city of Alexandria and was founded in the 3rd century BC. These sins represent the most objectionable vices in Christian moral teachings and are considered particularly harmful, as they lead to other immoral behaviors, hindering spiritual growth and righteousness.
To understand the development of the Seven Deadly Sins, it is essential to recognize the gradual process involving various theologians and thinkers who aimed to identify and classify human failings and vices that obstruct spiritual growth.
The Seven Deadly Sins are considered so odious and ruinous because they represent fundamental moral weaknesses and negative character traits that spawn immoral behavior, harm to oneself or others, and spiritual degradation. These sins are believed to be particularly destructive because they give rise to other vices and harmful actions. Additionally, they are considered obstacles to spiritual growth and the development of virtues, which are essential for living a morally upright life. By identifying and avoiding these sins, individuals are thought to be better able to cultivate virtues and live in harmony with themselves, others, and their spiritual beliefs.

I love the concept that sins are not acts commit, but feelings or traits you have because that's really the reality of the world the things you do are a manifestation of how wrong you are they aren't what's wrong

There are no layers in Hell, Dante wrote Bible/Virgil fanfiction and it blew out out proportion bc there wasn’t much else to be entertained by in the late 1200’s.
@@vepar42 right it’s important to know that going into that but I’m already aware of Dante’s infernos making the 7 sins n layers of hell really what they are more so then the actual bible althogh the Bible talks a lot about sin and as well Buddhist have many layers of hell too

I always thought sloth was simply laziness. I had no idea it was also the sin hedonists and pleasure seekers are most guilty of.
Someone asked me what the worst sin would be, I said my personal least favorite is sloth but I then sad nah pride is the route of all the other sins but sloth is extremely intoxicating it can especially effect the wealthiest & most sout after life styles from the ones who work the hardest
Every sin has two aspects.
Sloth = Laziness
Sloth = people who are so busy there aren't enough hours in the day.
GREED = the obvious money
hunger
GREED - people who hoard too much OR spend it ALL

in actuality the Seven Deadly Sins represents the Seven Paths of Pain. Which many Demons use for their Sage Mode , its a Dark Side Sage Mode but many more Demons use it than just these 7 Demons.

No. We should exist. Great question! It’s a lot to unpack;however, we are therefore we exist. The highlight of identifying the 7 is for us all to shape society in a “Glory be to God” direction. Press our way away from sin and towards righteousness. IMHO
Then again, if you believe in Christ…..your sins are washed away. This does not exempt Christians from true and sincere repentance. Again, it’s a lot to unpack. Have a blessed day. ✝️
@@jonmarchilgers384 the seven sins are part of human nature. And it only deadly when it affects others. Greed for example. There is nothing wrong with wanting more stuff. But if you destroy others or the environment, then it is the sin. Lust is not a problem, everybody got things they desire, but it shouldn’t be something that controls you.

Maybe I simply misunderstood the wording, but it sounded to me like your explanation for the origin of these teachings was in Christian traditions in Egypt around 300 BC. But if that were the case, that's several centuries before Christ or any type of Christian ideology. Perhaps you were tying Christianity with these tenets from the older Abrahamic religion (Judaism) as they share the same basic principles until "God incarnate" when there was a theological schism that founded Christianity. It just seemed like there was a non-chronological attribution to Christianity in the way that section was worded.
Imo : I think all these "Gods, Angels, Demon, Lucifer, Jesus, Demon army, Archeangels, etc" were just humans
