If he wants to play it as a producer he cant be playing 90% of his set as other peoples tracks just crossfading between songs...like do something. anything. this is why electro is dying. period.

+Matt Mayz i think if you are up there, its inevitable that you use "invisible piano" its not easy to go up there. And Andrew rayel said these days its not only about how good you are at djing but producing. audien is a great producer and not a good dj. DJ changed a lot ever since it was created. Nothings the same. For example, doctors, did they have different types of doctors back in the days? not really, it was all done by one type of doctor. Not its different, they don't use all the skills that old school dj used before. Just gotta adjust to it, if not, then just watch dj craze and dont bother yourself to watch "shitty set" as you refer to.
Your metaphor doesn't apply to this scenario at all...djing hasn't changed, the equipment has. The point I'm trying to make is If you want to be up there put some effort into it. Also could you please explain to me why it's impossible to not to the fake piano on stage? People accepting this as a "good" set is exactly why no one knows how to DJ anymore.
Okay i can explain why you can't avoid invisible piano. its part of their job. since they dont do much with their control/mixers/whatever the fuck they use, they dont use it to its full potential, so if they dont do shit like invisible piano, what are they gonna do, just stare at the crowd. Think bro, think. Dont you think they know its silly, but theyve got no choice since this is how they make money?
I dont think this is a good set, why, as youve said I dont think he put that much effort. But do you know if audien is good at djing or not? I have different definition of what djs are like these days. Craze is what dj was like, but this is mainstream festival. Why do you think Craze doesnt perform in these festivals? As Ive said Audien is better off as producer, not a dj, and in this festival they came to play songs after songs, not to "dj".

I didn't like his set. I have no idea how he normally plays, it was the first time I heard him performing, but he was just changing too much shifting from one style to another. It was literally one song trance/progressive house, the next one big room/future bass/... and then again a trance/progressive house number. He was not working towards a climax in the end of his set and it felt like he quite randomly put an order in his songs. Due to that the transitions between the songs were also very, very sloppy managed (just listen for example to 3:36,...). And during the whole set, he didn't say even one word to the crowd.
Don't get me wrong. I am a huge fan of him. Songs as Wayfarer (he should have never played this as his first song as the public was not warmed up enough to sing along), Rooms and Something Better, are all masterpieces and I was hoping on a balance but he didn't reach my expectations. Too bad :( But please, keep producing these masterworks :D

+Joe Contreras I prefer artists as Arty and Porter Robinson, who put -in my opinion - some more structure in their sets, but are also touching a wide variety of genres. Anyway it's nice that opinions can vary ;)
Audien played a very similar set at EDC Orlando in 2015, only a few songs were different. But I LOVED it and love this one too :)
I agree, as well as not keeping the beat after alot of drops, it kind of takes the energy away, It seems he should already have the beat pumping from the previous or next track leading into another drop. solid track choices I feel though.

martin garrix is okay on festivals cause he has mega tracks. but unfortunately for Audien (who i love for his pompeii mix) he hasn't shown much as an producer(original track / mix) nor as a DJ(who mixes the songs and builds up the crowds vibe). i know he is on tour so. hopefully he can balance the two while going through his busy schedules (which can be a very useful opportunity to make mistakes and learn or just playing the famous tracks and keeping the mixing to the minimum: making only the $ €) wish you the best mate
