- In a video, "Splash" actress Daryl Hannah made a huge announcement "that by 2030 all Mattel toys will be plastic-free.” However, her big announcement was a hoax. In a statement, Mattel says “this is a hoax and has nothing to do with Mattel or any of its products.” The actress and eco-activist says she created the fake promotional campaign to bring awareness to the damaging effects of plastic on the environment.
Well done Daryl, at least someone is saying something about plastics for once.
I mean it’s not real now but it has gotten the idea in people’s heads 🤔
I loved the movie "Splash". I agree with Daryl that plastic is awful for the environment. Don't think they will be getting rid of it by 2030.
I don’t want to give Mattel too much credit. They don’t get to pat themselves on the back for going plastic free after spending the next seven years polluting the oceans with their plastic dolls.
But hey, maybe Mattel will sometime next year, so we won’t have to wait seven years for plastic free dolls.

obviously you don´t know anything about her career and her activism during all her life since she was 20.Daryl Hannah has worked with Ridley Scott,Ron Howard,Woody Allen, Oliver Stone,John Sayles,Herbert Ross, Quentin Tarantino,Ivan Reitman...She has produced many documentaries, one of them about human traffick in Thailand. She had her own website showing us how to be more eco friendly. She worked in a Strip Club in downtown L.A for months to prepare her character as a strip dancer. She has been arrested several times. Once, she was arrested for protecting people who were living in a farm in south LA . She´s a really activist, artist and very smart person.
