Thanks for testing these for us. At 5'10 the stock screen works pretty well for me, a little noisy above 65 mph. I added a Puig clip on visor, that helps a lot. Overall, way better than a V-Strom 800, Tenere 700, KTM 890 or F850GS. I might try the WRS windscreen - the extra width looks like it would help.
Yeah I enjoy wind, but not annoying wind, I also love long rides so after some time, sheww. But yeah man, I think that touring one would be a solid option for your height.
I own a transalp that has upgraded suspension and full sc project exhaust do mainly off road and prefer tubes and I don’t need cruise or a tall screen no bikes perfect
You should try a Madstad windshield I’m sure they will have their system for the Transalp. Their windshields use replacement mounting brackets which allow you to adjust both the height and angle of the windshield. I have been using them for many years. I have no connection to them, just a happy customer.
As the WRS shields are made from PMMA (Plexiglass/Perspex) you should be able to re shape it by careful use of a heat gun. experiment on some scrap PMMA of the same thickness until you get the feel for it. Looks to be enough material on the upper sides of the larger screen to add the deflection bends you require. If you really want to do a more visual test of how the turbulence is affected by shape/height etc. fix some streamers on to the screen in different locations and ride around...you'll be amazed!
i think the better thing for noise is to add a deflector on the windshield like MRA or aliexpress one. I do it on all of my bikes and so I can ear the motor noise and not the wind noise
Is there a shorter windscreen available for the Transalp? I ride year round in Western Washington with an occasional trip into the desert Southwest. One of the first things I did when I bought my 2019 Africa Twin Adventure Sports was replace the windscreen with a short screen from an AT. I need air to hit my helmet for cooling when it's hot and to clear fogging when it's cold. Also when it's hot, I'm wearing a mesh jacket and I want air to hit my body. Just looking at the windscreen on the Transalp, I think I'd want a shorter one. I am 6 ft tall. Riding US Highway 395 north of Mono Lake, I once tucked in behind a semi and trailer. I was trying to get to Mono City before dark, and was trying to take advantage of the heat coming off the truck's engine as we went over the passes. Riding in the turbulence behind that trailer, that was buffeting. Allowing air to touch my helmet during normal riding, that's not buffeting. I've had no problems with buffeting due to the short windscreen.
I am 5’10 and just rode 300 miles in strong winds with 80MPH speed limit on the Transalp 750 and the windscreen was fine. The headwinds caused the engine to whine a bit but it powered through.
Thanx for the info. I am 5'9", 180 cm and now I know about the wind as we all are diiifernt sizes. I have a 32' inseam and like that I can flat foot the Transalp in the showroom.
I’m also 5”10 and took the bike on to 110km/h roads and couldn’t wait to get off it, buffeting was unbearable. I’d definitely need one of these screens if I do decide to get the bike
Excellent video. Thanx. I like these products. A new company to me. I like to feel some wind as do not want to feel like I am in a car and also get some cooling wind. I hate riding in a big protected air pocket
Something that's never mentioned in windscreen videos is what effect they have on MPG at highway speeds? I know it's got to have some affect, just not how much.
Now, the next video shall be (for us ordinary mortals who do care) about the fuel consumption. How is it affected by different windshields, especially at cruising speeds.
The Honda tall screen is excellent according to a guy who reviews all the current adv bikes. He says it provides the best wind protection of any bike and he is also 6’
I'm 6feed (183cm) and had a test ride on Honda demo bike last week, it had the tall screen and deflectors. It needs to be a few cm longer for 6feet people otherwise a clip on is required. Though, it's still quite a good windshield.
When you say stock Honda screen, do you mean the tall or short honda screen? Because at least in EU when I asked what accessories were available for the Transalp, a tall screen was also one of them. Would be nice to know the review of both OEM versions as well :)
Good job! I also experience kind of disturbing helmet buffeting at high speeds and I'm 177cm. Would be nice to compare them with the honda high windscreen.Honda claims + 7,5 cm so 481mm.Higher than the touring and shorter than the caponord..
im looking at a few, these are the heights ive found: ORIGINAL: 40.6 x 38.1 cm Honda TALL: 45.5 x 42.0 cm 7.5 cm higher than the original GIVI D1201S : *smoked* 52 x 40 cm 11.5 cm higher than the original GIVI TALL D1201ST : 62 x 40 cm 21.5 cm higher than the original Capornord : 50.5 x 42.0 cm 10.1 cm higher than the original
Taller windscreen is great for large countries/ continents...but here in Asia that medium windscreen works well...need that wind in your face. It's very Humid and more often than not we riders from Asia prefer wind to hit your arms and armpit. You showering in your sweat when you stop the bike to park.
This stock windshield has had many bad reviews over utube from many different riders basically about buffeting & noise. When they replaced it with a taller one all was ok 👍🇬🇧
There's only one way to make Transalp better; wait till 2025 when Honda probably will come back with tubeless tires, real headlamp and, I wish, real suspension.
@@Hypareal69 2k more to the price for upgrades mentioned shouldn't be competing much, more so when they're kinda leaning the ATAS into touring more with the 2024 model. off-road should be more focused in the middle weight which this bike could be if they want to.
@@metalsadman africa twin starts at 14k so yea if transalp was 12k with tubeless tyres and cruise control why wouldn’t you pay 2k more for africa twin with more power, bigger tank, two screens with navigation.

Being 5'8" i think the stock should work for me also. A clip on visor with the side deflectors ought to be plenty good for me.
I own a transalp that has upgraded suspension and full sc project exhaust do mainly off road and prefer tubes and I don’t need cruise or a tall screen no bikes perfect
Good stuff........I am only 5'8" so sounds like the stock will work especially with the wind deflectors/wings and possibly a a clip on visor.
What about the taller windshield offered as an accessory by Honda for the TransAlp 750? Any idea how that would compare to those you tested?

Where your camera was mounted had the view through the windshield and I have to say the distortion was minimal at most. Looks like a great product.
