yeah the gist of it is: titans ordered planets fighting the voidlords along the way, void lords found out planets are basically titan eggs, sent old gods to infest them, old gods drifter around till some found azeroth, saregeras got paranoid af and thought the only way to save creation from the void lords is to...destroy creation and there you have it!
Well, it goes back further than that. Void energy is basically the Light that has lost it's warmth and it's... positive qualities. From there the clashes of shadow and light basically caused the universe, the twisting nether, and all of azerothian reality/it's schools of magic to come to life. The new lore structure pretty much has Light and Void/Shadow as the huge good/evil scale, where Arcane and Fel come in as order and chaos, championed by the Titans and Demons respectively. Sargeras, the master of the burning legion, is trying to scour the universe of life in the hopes that he can destroy all known manifestations of the void lords, being afraid of them corrupting any fledgling titan yet to wake up, and (somehow, despite bathing most planets he scours in fel energy) hopes that life will find a way to bounce back free of the potential corruption. When the old gods landed on primordial azeroth (fledgling titan) and began to corrupt the few races that had emerged up to that point, two of the four elemental lords (Air - Al'akir and Fire - Ragnaros) sided with the old gods and began to serve them. Which is the long ass, convoluted way of explaining why Jaina says he'll be ''punished for serving the old gods'' (I swear it all makes so much more sense in full context)
