I backslid for 9 years. Worked in mainstream non denom mega churches, got wrapped up in a fake life of proclaiming one thing on the platform and behind closed doors living a life of filth with no accountability. I should’ve died many times, the things I got involved with are unthinkable. My life fell apart in the most dramatic of ways, but It’s only by His mercy and grace that I am still here. Jesus really does leave the 99 to find the 1 that is lost and that is so real! Thank you Jesus for coming back for me when I didn’t deserve it!

Thank you for this. Thru the years I’ve met so many Christians who live sinful lives w no remorse - b/c they’re “saved” & don’t need to change. Not only is this contrary to the Bible, as you stated, I feel sadness for them - they’re missing out on the joy that comes from living a life of faith, repentance, & the transformative power of the Savior’s atoning sacrifice. I have faith that thru repentance I can have a continuing, growing relationship w my Savior as He takes on my sins & shortcomings. Part of that faith is in His power to change me in the areas I’m not able to change myself. He increases my capacity to love & forgive others; He softens my heart & helps me look outside myself to the needs of others. I love Him; I need Him. He is my salvation, my redeemer.

Why do the scriptures say to work out your salvation with FEAR AND TREMBLING if there is no chance that we may not obtain it. If we don't work out our salvation then we will not have it.
You are not losing it, you are rejecting it. It is a personal choice to walk in the light or skulk in the darkness believing you can live like hell and be welcomed into heaven.
I'm apostolic and recieved the Holy Spirit in '78. Since then I've backsliding and returned to the Lord several times. Currently I've been serving the Lord for close to two years. If we can really answer this question as christians, then we can know whether one saved always saved is true or false. The question is this:Did Samson make it back to the lord or not? I am pentecostal but recently am seeing that on the face value of the scriptures,it is appearing that from John 3:16 and John 11:25, there is eternal security for believers. The story of the prodigal son also illustrates this. The question is was the prodigal son saved before he went astray or not?
The only thing i would add is that we forfeit being sons upon walking away. Also for the less informed, believe encompasses faith and obedience, not merely intellectual ascent. The relationship is held together by GOD. A true Believer would not reject JESUS bcz to do s means you have to have Grace to reject Him and since it's HIS GRACE not ours, HE CANNOT BREAK HIS COVENANT! We can grieve HIM but never leave.
This teaching is confusing. When or how much can never be answered. How perfect do we need to live? What if I commit major sin and die and cannot ask forgiveness? The only interpretation that makes any sense and brings the gospel together is eternal salvation. The saved know they are saved. Faith is trust and belief that Jesus saved you. Not knowing this is a life of doubt and confusion. The witnessed words from Christ said he will raise you on the last day and give you eternal life for all who believe. This man is exactly right that we still have free will to sin which is inevitable... however we all still must reap what we sow. They are warnings to walk in the spirit after salvation and not the flesh. Continuing in the flesh leads to curses and punishment in this life and the next but you are still saved as Jesus promised. Hope this helps 🙏
Agree, Listen to "Once saved always saved" by Steven Anderson and it's much clearer. Forget the character and just compare if what he says is scriptural.

Paul however makes it perfectly clear exactly what he is talking about Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, *the redemption of our body* The reason none of you know what the redemption of the body is. You guys don't believe in a physical bodily resurrection of the dead with physical glorified bodies.
If, as the “once saved, always saved” doctrine teaches, one cannot absolutely be lost after receiving salvation, why are there so many passages warning against apostasy? Seems like it would be wasted effort. Why would God repeatedly warn us against something that cannot happen? May God help us to understand and follow the word of Christ, for, as Peter said, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
Hebrews 6:4 ff speaks with absolute crystal clarity on the matter: for it says that those who have tasted the heavenly gift, if they fall away etc etc are . . to be burned go look it up and who but the born again has tasted the heavenly gift? therefore OSAS is false for it posits a FALSE security =- the security of a doctrinal plank rather than a personal one on one relationship unfortunately when i read this passage i was totally terrified and did exactly the wrong thing in response: i thought i stayed saved by keeping the Law, when it turn s out that tryingto keep the law is to forsake christ FOR the law (Galatians) though i was extremly devout THAT is when i fell away - into religion , not into the world and its pursuits the condition (if we must speak of conditional security) is not hard nor burdensome, for His commands ( as opposed to the Law) are not hard it is simply ABIDE IN HIM - a one on one relationship for HE is a person not a set of doctrines and knowing ABOUT Him is not the same as knowing him and only the born again can do this. moreover if you re not born again you will likely not have the foggiest idea of what i am talking about. as it was it took me years to find this out. my church was of no help whatsoever

So you can only obtain salvation by faith (and not by any works) as a free gift because of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, but you can lose it by your actions? How is His sacrifice any different from the old testament sacrifices if sin can then take me away?
Far too many Christians reason that "I believe in Jesus, therefore I am justified by Christ's righteousness, *NO FURTHER COMMITMENT."* They fail to realize that *this is simply the very first step* of righteousness by faith. Too many of us have stopped at this first step of 'belief', and will not be justified in the sight of God as an unbeliever. When the books are opened the record will expose us as such. The apostle Paul confirmed in Romans 1:17 that the ‘therein is righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith'. *WE MOVE ONWARDS from faith to faith, ALWAYS GROWING IN THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST,* unto perfection. Justification by faith alone is a rudimentary doctrine of many denominations. People are taught that they are saved the moment they believe in Jesus. Countless Christians base their hope of eternal salvation on this doctrine. Often, they are extremely dogmatic in condemning anyone who teaches that certain acts of obedience are required for one to be saved. God's salvation act to save mankind is an offer, *not a handout.* His grace did not save anyone unconditionally. Our Saviour died to save [me] mankind. In order for anyone to be saved, there are conditions to be met. *Faith is not complete without obedience.* We must also recognize that once you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour you cannot be presumptuous and become antinomianism. There are other elements of Christ's righteousness, but the two vital points are to do with justification and sanctification. Through faith in our Lord and Saviour, His righteousness is 'imputed' to us and makes us justified. *In other words, Christ's righteousness is 'credited' to us, we are 'made righteous'* and we gain, through Christ alone, a 'right' to heaven. Then the righteousness of Christ is 'imparted' to us and sanctifies us. *Through faith, Christ becomes an INDWELLING PRESENCE to bring about character perfection and obedience to all of God's law.* - This is our 'fitness' for heaven. *These two main elements go hand in hand and cannot be separated,* as true faith is more than attending Church, reading the Bible, and listening to sermons. Like the Pharisees, they think their study of Scripture and serving others are proof of their eternal life. [John 5:39]. True faith will distinguish authentic believers from false believers. True faith is more than an orthodox profession of Christ. Intellectual orthodoxy does not indicate saving faith. ‘Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; *but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.’* Matt. 7:21. Many professed Christians focus on justification only [professed faith in Jesus Christ], and miss the important process of sanctification. They profess to be justified and saved just because they 'believe' in Jesus, and yet continue to live worldly, sinful lives. We are sanctified through the truth - the truth of God's Word in our lives, and those who are sanctified through the truth are living recommendations of its power, and representatives of their risen Lord, Jesus Christ. The religion of Christ will refine the taste, sanctify the judgment, elevate, purify, and ennoble the soul, making the Christian more and more fit for the society. 'Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.' John 17:17 'And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.' John 17:19. 'Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently.' 1 Peter 1:22. 'Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.' 2 Corinthians 7:1. Here is Bible sanctification. It is not merely a profession of faith, or external work. It is sanctification received through the channel of truth. *It is truth received in the heart, and practically carried out in the life, by obeying God’s commandments, and not sinning wilfully.* There is no Bible sanctification for those who cast truth aside. We must embrace *ALL* Bible truth. There is enough light given in the word of God so that none need err. Jesus, considered as a man, was perfect, yet He grew in grace. ‘And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.’ Luke 2:52. Even the most perfect Christian may increase continually in the knowledge and love of God. Sanctification is not the work of a moment, an hour, or a day. It is a continual growth in grace and a work that will continue our whole lives. But our enemy Satan lives and is active, and every day we need to cry earnestly to God for help and strength to resist him. As long as Satan reigns we shall have self to subdue, besetments to overcome, and there is no stopping place, there is no point to which we can come and say we have fully attained. [Philippians 3:12]. *The Christian life is constantly an onward march. Jesus sits as a refiner and purifier [Malachi 3:3] of His people; and when His image is perfectly reflected in them [2 Cor 3:18], they are perfect and holy, and prepared for translation.* If your whole interest is in the truth and the preparatory work for this time, you will be sanctified through the truth and receive a fitness for immortality. The thorough work of preparation must go on with all who profess the truth, until we stand before the throne of God without fault, without a spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing. [Ephesians 5:27]. *Why is Sanctification Important?* When we first believe in God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, we are 'justified' through our faith in Jesus and our names get written in the 'book of life'. But a mere profession of faith does not win us a place in heaven. All who have their names written in God's book are being judged right now to see if their profession is actually being lived out in their lives. And if their faith is found wanting, then they are removed from God's book of life and will have their portion in the lake of fire with the wicked. Revelation 3:5 'He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; *and I will NOT blot out his name out of the book of life,* but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.' Revelation 22:19 'And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, *God shall take away his part out of the book of life,* and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.' There is no such thing as 'once saved always saved', because as God's Word confirms above, a believer *who has his name IN the book of life, ie, in a SAVED position, can have his name BLOTTED OUT of God's book and end up losing his salvation.* Which is why sanctification is an important part of our faith. We cannot just merely 'believe' in Jesus, go to church once or twice a week, but then live worldly lives the rest of the time. We must submit to the Lord and His ways each and every day and let Him sanctify us. Remember what the apostle James said? *'Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.'* James 2:17 ... *which means 'professed justification' without sanctification is vain and dead. You cannot be truly justified without being sanctified.* So how important is it to study God's Word and find out the truth for ourselves? [2 Timothy 2:15]. Because it is by living out the Bible's truth in our lives that we become sanctified. We must study God's Word for ourselves. Put it into practice in our lives and we will experience a personal, sanctifying relationship with Jesus Christ.
Sealed unto the day of redemption, he who started a good work will complete it to the day of Jesus Christ. You cannot lose it. If your being sanctified it’s because of the holy spirits permanent presence and work being done in your soul. Any true person can quench it or grieve it but cannot lose it.

It blows my mind how many people DON’T believe in once saved always saved. It’s truly sad how many of these so called preachers pervert the word of God. If salvation is eternal then how can you lose it? That’s just so simple to believe that even a child can understand. Anything other than faith and belief ALONE in Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross for YOUR sins is WORKS SALVATION. God says we are saved by grace and not of works lest we should boast. If you don’t believe in OSAS then you’re not saved at all.
There is no such thing as once saved always saved. It is written, in (Col.1:23) if you continue in the faith. It is written, let no man take thy crown, because it can be taken. It is written, make your election sure, because it is not sure. It is written, if you hate your brother, you don't have eternal life abiding in you. It is written, the 5 foolish virgins had oil, the Holy Spirit, but ran out of oil and were left behind. It is written, the trial of our faith is more prescious than gold that perishes, but after we have been tried, we'll receive a crown of life. He that finishes the race, obtains the prize, a crown that fadeth not away. He that endureth to the end, shall be saved. We must live in righteousness and holiness. God takes no pleasure in them that draw back and return to their vomit.
Could you give us a reason why these verses make you scared? This is only speaking to the people that call themselves Christians but they are only Christian in name only and have never become a True Christian. I would be glad to have a dialog with you if you should choose to do so. I always have a heart for those that have concern of their Salvation because it really does not have to be that way.

In fact, some denominations/religions get a lot of mileage (i.e. Money) out of Salvation insecurity. Because when you keep people from knowing that they are eternally secured, you can control them. For As long as you can keep people from knowing that nothing can separate them from their relationship with God through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:35 ~39), you can get them to do a lot of things that if they don't do it, they might lose their salvation.

I've also had this debate with people who believe "once saved, always saved". I believe a person CAN detach themselves from the Lord to which they no longer have the benefit of salvation. I believe God does give us the option. I don't believe once we are saved, we are FORCED to remain in salvation until death. Being a Christian is having a personal & intimate relationship with the Lord. If you ignore it, starve it, neglect it, walk away from it, etc..., you no longer have those benefits.
I believe that as well. Once saved always saved only applies to true Christian believers, a title only God knows in the end. We as believers have faith that in the end after enduring and fighting the battle of faith we will emerge victorious with Him.

I think that scriptures clearly mentions here that we alhave a relationship to continue in faith. Once saved always saved is indeed not biblical. It is possible to make a choice to walk away from relationship with God.
Most all seminaries fail to teach Matt 15:25 and Matt 10:88. The gospels are to Jews only, if you believe Jesus. Romans 16: 25&26 says God had a diiferent plan than
How much messing up(sinning) does it take to lose your salvation? That's a very fundamental question. Is doing one thing wrong. Maybe it's doing 2 things wrong. Maybe it's doing 5 things wrong. Maybe it's doing 10 things wrong. Maybe it's doing the same thing 10 times. Or is it only public stuff or can it be private stuff? I don't do anything publicly wrong I just got a messed up mind. I mean my every thought is a wicked thought but I don't fulfill it, I just think about it all day long. It that enough for me to lose the free gift or Salvation?
Thanks for debate. I'm Pentecostal and I was not taught, or did not infer from sermons that salvation is eternal. When I came across an article teaching permanence of salvation I was taken aback. I'm not controversial but I believe in eternal security. I find it contradictory that there is assurance of salvation and that salvation is eternal yet there is no eternal security. If that is the case then, it is either salvation is not eternal or its the residency in a believer. I use "assurance" to mean being assured of going to heaven immediately after getting saved or long before death, considering one can sin at some point and die before saying sorry. Again, is it every sin that takes away salvation or not? If yes, we can say noone remains saved throughout because of "small" besetting sins. There is a level of wickedness a person, if really saved, can not descend to. The Pentecostal movement teaches conditional security and to me this means while only Jesus saves a sinner, remaining saved depends on the believer for the Lord is immutable and dependable. It is a matter of life and death that can crush souls with anxiety. It should be taught with utmost adherence to scripture, avoiding denominational biases. I since shed hidden (one I did not admit openly) fear or anxiety and I admire Jesus more, with desire for sinful pleasure suppressed more. Work on for the Lord.
This is well articulated. I, too, was plagued with the anxiety of measuring up to salvation, which in itself is works based salvation, also known as legalism. When I realized that I could not have faith in the work of the cross [for me] if I also believed that it was still up to me to perform it. This legalistic doctrine/reformational point of view is pushed for that very purpose, i.e., to be of a point of view. At the point of my choosing to put my righteousness in Chirst alone, I also became more confident in my Christian walk instead of cowering to my flesh, which always reminds us that we are not good enough. I mean, just think about this, Paul wrote, anyone who doesn't have the Spirit of God is none of His and that those who are led by Spirit are the sons of God. One says "led" is the condition, while the other says "have" is the condition. We could try to dig out a difference between the two, but my point is to say that it's all about the Holy Spirit. Not the letter. Faith in the letter killeth, it always has, but the Spirit gives life.
read the prodigal son. what part did you play in your salvation? did you earn your salvation? can you save yourself with your good works? are you trusting in Christ alone? when someone is saved can God lose them? is there someone more powerful than God who can takeaway your salvation? what does it mean to love someone unconditionally?
If someone walks away from the faith, they were never saved to begin with. As someone who has been Born Again since 2018, it is impossible for me to lose my faith in CHRIST. Once you see the the truth you cannot unsee it.
Take out the period, and add the word "if" to the sentence. Yes, you can lose your salvation, and there are a lot of "IF" statements in the bible. Abraham BELIEVED God's promise that his seed would continue thru Isaac. And that belief got his RIGHTOUESNESS. Later on, God told Abraham to kill that child, that same child to whom the promise was intended. That's pretty contradictory of a promise. Don't ya think? What if...there is that if statement...what if Abraham had told God, "NO", I will not kill my son, because you promised me that an inheritance through Isaac...and now, you are going back on your word to me!" You do realize that this was a TEST of Abraham's faith, right? A TEST. TEST. Now, if his faith was under a TEST, what would have happened if Abraham had said, "NO". Would he have lost his RIGHTEOUSNESS? Yes, or no?
@@buckenheimer3 Negative. Resurrection hasn't happened yet. You've still got time to DIE AGAIN! See Hebrews 3:12...then re-read all of that chapter. After verse 12, it discusses the Israelites that were saved from the Bondage of Egypt...but then DIED afterwards due to UNBELIEF. And so we have verse 12 as a warning. I wish I knew where you people come up with ONCE YOU ARE BORN IT'S IRREVERSABLE. You can die again, my friend. Do you even know what faith is? The word HOPE is within that. Do you know what HOPE is? If you don't believe anymore...that is dead faith. No faith, no grace, no saved. You are dead to Christ, alive to sin. Hebrews 3:12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. Do you realize all of the WARNINGS in the Bible pertaining to FAILING to maintain your salvation? There is LOTS of WARNINGS. Don't be so gullible that you become complacent, and end up saying, "LORD LORD".
I am in agreement with you that one can lose their salvation. But the book of Hebrews was written to the early church Jewish believers who were considering going back to the old works of the Law. It is not referring to someone who has either backslidden, because we know in Scripture that backsliders have the opportunity to return to the Father’s house. This is the beauty of the grace of God. No one is or will ever be perfect, which is why we must continue in Christ, as reverend Bernard says, for the remainder of our lives.
We cannot walk away from the relationship that ones began with us entering, consciously, with faith in Jesus, into the new testament with God. The only condition is faith. No way back is forseen. And nobody wants it, neither God nor man, who becomes saved/newborned as a result of it. It is perfectly seen in Jeremiah 32:40. And because of the new condition/nature of the saved man he begins to hate sin and to fight it. In contrast to the carnal unsaved man, who hasn't started these relationships with God, he has a continuous pleasure of doing sinful things and nothing bothers him.
The word "saved" is a PAST TENSE. It has been DONE. To say it can be un-done is to say God made a MISTAKE for only God can do the saving. We are saved through faith by the BRACE of Gos APART from WORKS lest any man should boast.
The following is Scriptural proof who Jesus really is and that He is much more than just the Son of God. Paul said in Galatians 1:12 that he was not taught by any man but was taught by Jesus himself which means whatever Paul said was what Jesus told him to say. Paul said in 1 Timothy 3:16,"AND WITHOUT CONTROVERSY GREAT IS THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS, GOD was manifest in the FLESH (Jesus), justified in the SPIRIT, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and received up into glory." Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:17,"Now the LORD IS THAT SPIRIT, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." Jesus is speaking in Revelation 2:7,"He that has an ear, let him hear what the SPIRIT says to the churches...." And Paul said in Ephesians 4:4, "For there is one body, ONE SPIRIT....verse 5 ONE LORD, ONE Faith and ONE BAPTISM." Paul said in Colossians 2:8-10,"Beware lest any man fool you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 FOR IN HIM DWELLS ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY." Jesus is not just part of the Godhead - Jesus IS the Godhead. Paul said in Hebrews 1:8, "But unto the SON he said, Thy throne O GOD is forever and ever...." Jesus said in Revelation 21:6-7,"And he said unto me (John) it is done, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I (Jesus) will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of life freely. 7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his GOD, and he shall be my SON." Paul said in Titus 2:13, "Looking for that blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great GOD and our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST." Acts 7:59, "And they stoned Stephen, calling upon GOD, and saying LORD JESUS, receive my spirit." 1 John 5:20,"And we know that the SON of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his SON Jesus Christ, THIS IS THE TRUE GOD, AND ETERNAL LIFE." Isaiah 9:6,"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son (Jesus) is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, ..." Jesus said in Revelation 1:8, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, which was, and is to come, THE ALMIGHTY." Jesus said in Revelation 2:7, "He that has an ear, let him hear what the SPIRIT says unto the Churches....." Jesus said in Mark 16:16, "He that believes and is BAPTIZED shall be Saved, but he that believes not shall be damned." Jesus addressed what damned means in Luke 16:19-31, Matthew 13:42, Matthew 25:41, Mark 9:45-46, Revelation 20:15, and Revelation 21:8. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, "Go therefore and teach all nations BAPTIZING them in the name (SINGULAR name and not names) OF the Father, and OF the Son, and OF the Holy Ghost." Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are titles and not names. Every time Jesus disciples baptized anyone in water they invoked Jesus Name at baptism which is Acts 2:38, Acts 8:14, Acts 8:38, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 16:15, Acts 16:33, Acts 18:7, Acts 18:8, Acts 19:3-5, and Acts 22:16. Peter said in Acts 4:12, "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is NONE OTHER NAME under heaven given among men whereby we must be SAVED." Some say the thief on the cross next to Jesus was not Baptized yet Jesus told him he would be with him that day in Paradise. Jesus had not yet given the COMMANDMENT to be Baptized in His Name until after he rose from the dead and just before he ascended into heaven. The thief or anyone else could not have been Baptized in His Name because they did not know about it. There is no t one scripture that says a person receives the Holy Ghost just because they are a believer. Acts 19:1-5 is a good example. If you are convinced you need to get Baptized in water in Jesus Name and get Baptized with the Holy Ghost - which is addressed in Mark 16:17 (Jesus speaking): Acts 2:4 (Pentecost), Acts 8:17, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:44-48, and Acts 19:3-5. Do a search, type in "United Pentecostal Church International", slightly scroll down to just below the red box, and type in your zip code. Then a screen will show a Church nearest you that will do that. If you do the above you will be making SURE your name is written in the Lamb's Book Of Life. Jesus said in John 10:27,"My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
Once Saved, Always Saved? Salvation is more than forgiveness of sin. Salvation so changes a person that he can never be the same again. The spirit of a saved person is now a New Creature and will never be the same again. 2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become new.” Saved are Dead to Sin and can no longer live in it. (The saved can commit sin, but can no longer live in sin, there is a difference). Rom 6:2 “God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, LIVE any longer therein?” He is saying it is not possible. Just like a person that is dead, he no longer lives here. The saved spirit now hates sin. Rom 7:15 “For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; BUT WHAT I HATE, that do I.” Though he now hates sin it is still present with him in his body (old man). Rom 7:20 “Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” Eze 36:26-27 “A NEW HEART also will I give you, and A NEW SPIRIT will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put MY SPIRIT within you, AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YE SHALL KEEP MY JUDGMENTS, AND DO THEM.” The saved will never be dominated by sin again. Rom 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Now when he sins God will chasten him, but not damn him. Heb 12:7 “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” This could not be done under the law, but only under grace. Being under the law always only brings death. 1 Cor 11:32 “But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should NOT BE CONDEMNED WITH THE WORLD.” God will even chasten a saved person unto death if necessary. 1 Cor. 11:30 “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.” (Sleep for the saved is death of the body, but not the spirit or soul.) It is the spirit of the saved that is born again. It will never sin again. Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” See born again in John 3:3. 1 Jn 3:9 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and HE CANNOT SIN, BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD.” 1 Jn 5:18 “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” It is the spirit that will never sin again. The saved now belongs to Christ 1 Cor 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and YE ARE NOT YOUR OWN?” The saved person belongs to Christ now and he will never lose him. John 18:9 “That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.” (Judas was not saved and then became lost, he was never saved in the first place). Christ is in the process of conforming the soul of the saved into the image of Christ. The spirit is saved by the new birth, the soul is being conformed to the image of Christ (in this present life), someday the saved will be given a new body, the old body cannot be saved. The source of all sin for the saved is his old body (old man, Eph. 4:22), but not from his spirit, when the old body is gone the saved will be completely delivered from sin. The saved always follow Christ. John 10:3-4 “To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and THE SHEEP FOLLOW HIM: FOR THEY KNOW HIS VOICE. 5 AND A STRANGER WILL THEY NOT FOLLOW, BUT WILL FLEE FROM HIM: FOR THEY KNOW NOT THE VOICE OF STRANGERS.” John 10:27 “MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, and I know them, AND THEY FOLLOW ME:” If a person fails to continue following Christ it proves he was never saved. 1 Jn 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” 1 Jn 3:10 “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” Jesus explains in Mt. 13 (parable of the sower) why some begin but fail to continue. (They weren’t saved and then became lost again). Salvation changes a person and removes him from under the law and places him under grace so God can now correct rather than condemn. The spirit of the saved now hates sin and will never submit to it again. Sin is still in his old unsaved body and he will have to deal with it until it dies. Scripture has much more than this to show “Once Saved, Always Saved”. If staying saved is dependent upon you, you won’t make it. You have placed yourself back under the law. You will have to be perfectly without sin for the rest of your life. The law requires it. Saved persons follow Christ because they have a new heart and a new spirit. Not in order to remain saved, but because they now have a heart and spirit to follow Christ. Concerning eternal salvation and life Heb 5:9 “And being made perfect, he became the author of ETERNAL SALVATION unto all them that obey him;” The obedience mentioned is to Repent and Believe the Gospel. Mar 1:15 “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Joh 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE, and shall not come into condemnation; but IS passed from death unto life.” The words hath and is are present tense, meaning the saved now have it, not something yet in the future. The eternal life that he will inherit in the future refers to a physical inheritance. Eternal life now is spiritual, in the future it will also be physical. If you say a saved person can lose eternal salvation or life you destroy the meaning of the word eternal. Some of the meanings of eternal are “perpetual; ceaseless; continued without intermission,” eternal will never come to an end. Also called everlasting life. Any thing eternal will never cease to exist. There is no teaching in Scripture of losing salvation. Works have nothing to do with salvation nor staying saved. Works only prove or disprove salvation. We are created unto good works, but not by good works (Eph. 2:8-9). A person who says or believes he is saved and does not have the works that come from salvation is not really saved. 1 Jn 3:10 “In this the children of God are MANIFEST, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” This is the effect of genuine salvation. Do you really understand salvation? F.Y.I. I am neither Calvinist or Arminian.
When we fall sick we go to the doctor & he gives us medicine to get well but do we continue till we are totally healed not always hope you understand what i am trying to reveal.
What would you say ti those that say if you fall away from God you never was saved in the beginning? I am witnessing to a gentleman that believes eternal salvation but he also believes in obedience to Gods word. His thoughts are as I said if someone backslides they never was really saved.
4:11 then you were never saved, though, because the Holy Spirit draws meant to repentance. So the Holy Spirit will convict you and bring you to repentance. You’ve described the man that does not have the Holy Spirit if they disregard their need for repentance.
The law states that every individual and legal children regardless of their status is entitled to any inheritance derived from their parent’s property possession to be part of his succession inheritance. Therefore, the prodigal son is entitled for his inheritance even without reconciliation with his father.
It amazes me that Dr. B can be so expert on the oneness of God--and right-- but so miserably wrong about the sin question. Christians absolutely cannot sin, become separated from God or backslide. I Jn. 1:8 is speaking about potential Christians who might fall away. But the just cannot fall away, but go from faith to faith which works by love. I think married people who are Christians have enough trouble in the flesh that they misconstrued the sin question and cannot believe what all the apostles testified of-- that the Christian is exempted from sinning everlastingly. Another error leading to thinking the Christian sins is thing we choose God and righteousness. But John 15:16 refutes this as does Rom. 8:28, Rom. 5:8, etc. etc. The conditional "ifs" of the N.T. are reproofs of instruction, and not suggesting that that Christian can backslide. I think Oneness Pentecostals historically focused so much on the nature of the Godhead that they never mastered the sin question.
Nope, you are wrong. He used the Bible to prove his point. Nowhere in the Bible does it say "once saved always saved". To believe that is to call God a liar. If you do that, we know the truth is not in you.
@@skywatcher5616 Lol, so according to you, I'm not saved. So arrogant and self righteous. My friend, salvation is sure, you cannot lose your salvation. When you say that Christ died for you and took your sins away, just so you can lose it?. How weak do you think the work of Christ is?. You on your own could free yourself from death by your good works, yet you can free yourself from eternal life?. That's ridiculous. You didn't work to be saved, so what work could you do to be 'unsaved'
@@shawny8357, Talk about arrogant. You think you can live your life on your terms after accepting salvation? Your sins start adding up again. We are called to walk THE WAY. That is through works. You swore that you would be His disciple. Faith without works is dead. James 2:14-26. You can't point to a single verse that states clearly, "once saved, always saved". Whereas, I will point you to one that clearly spells out that you better be working if you want to enter heaven. Matthew 7:21-23. I believe you are looking for an easy glide into heaven because you asked Jesus to forgive you. You must not have grown up to the meat of the gospels. Well, you keep drinking the milk. 1st Corinthians 3:2.
The soul that sinneth, shall surely die. Whether saved or not. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. You must be born again, walk not after the flesh.
BIBLE: 2 Pet 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22But it 1s happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
the issue I have with the idea of conditional salvation is THIS... 1 John 3:9 tells us... "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he CANNOT sin, because he is born of God." anyone who believes they are Saved... but Yet STILL chooses to sin WILLFULLY...as they please and/or believes that they can determine what their relationship with God will be... IS NOT SAVED.. those who believe that anyone CAN lose their salvation at any time.. are saying this verse is a LIE.. and do Not trust in the Sovereignty of God... God does Not allow anyone to be saved .....in order for that person to wrest themselves from His hands...
The Bible teaches that if a man live his whole life doing evil and repents at the end of his life all his sins are forgiven. The Bible also teaches that if a man live his entire life holy but then at the end of his life begins doing evil his sins will be retained to him. So yes, just as a damned man can become saved a saved man can become damned according to scripture.
That’s false brethren. it’s about a relationship with the Lord. Now their are instances where God in HIS sovereignty has shown mercy on some at the end and they enter in. But what your describing is “self will” which is iniquity.

@@ttmatt_8250 repentance simply means to turn away from sinful ways. Included in that turning would be those things you described. My comment was NOT meant to be an exhaustive exposition of what the Bible teaches about the plan of salvation but only an example to support the subject Dr. Bernard was treating in this video. Anyone with any kind of common sense would have been able to understand that. Also above i already said that yes that sinful man who repented would have to obey the gospel in its entirety.

The Christian Life is a RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST.

THANK YOU!!!! So many people get it wrong we are sealed unto the day of redemption.

You have words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
clear concise explanation, thank you
Hebrews 6:4 ff speaks with absolute crystal clarity on the matter:
for it says that those who have tasted the heavenly gift, if they fall away etc etc are . . to be burned
go look it up
and who but the born again has tasted the heavenly gift?
therefore OSAS is false for it posits a FALSE security =- the security of a doctrinal plank rather than a personal one on one relationship
unfortunately when i read this passage i was totally terrified and did exactly the wrong thing in response: i thought i stayed saved by keeping the Law, when it turn s out that tryingto keep the law is to forsake christ FOR the law (Galatians)
though i was extremly devout THAT is when i fell away - into religion , not into the world and its pursuits
the condition (if we must speak of conditional security) is not hard nor burdensome, for His commands ( as opposed to the Law) are not hard
it is simply ABIDE IN HIM - a one on one relationship for HE is a person not a set of doctrines and knowing ABOUT Him is not the same as knowing him
and only the born again can do this. moreover if you re not born again you will likely not have the foggiest idea of what i am talking about.
as it was it took me years to find this out.

So you can only obtain salvation by faith (and not by any works) as a free gift because of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, but you can lose it by your actions? How is His sacrifice any different from the old testament sacrifices if sin can then take me away?
Nobody can make themselves unborn. It's irreversible
'Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.' John 17:17
'And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.' John 17:19.
*It is truth received in the heart, and practically carried out in the life, by obeying God’s commandments, and not sinning wilfully.*
There is no Bible sanctification for those who cast truth aside.
Jesus sits as a refiner and purifier [Malachi 3:3] of His people; and when His image is perfectly reflected in them [2 Cor 3:18], they are perfect and holy, and prepared for translation.*
If your whole interest is in the truth and the preparatory work for this time, you will be sanctified through the truth and receive a fitness for immortality. The thorough work of preparation must go on with all who profess the truth, until we stand before the throne of God without fault, without a spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing. [Ephesians 5:27].
*Why is Sanctification Important?*
When we first believe in God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, we are 'justified' through our faith in Jesus and our names get written in the 'book of life'. But a mere profession of faith does not win us a place in heaven. All who have their names written in God's book are being judged right now to see if their profession is actually being lived out in their lives. And if their faith is found wanting, then they are removed from God's book of life and will have their portion in the lake of fire with the wicked.
Revelation 3:5 'He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; *and I will NOT blot out his name out of the book of life,* but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.'
Revelation 22:19 'And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, *God shall take away his part out of the book of life,* and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.'
There is no such thing as 'once saved always saved', because as God's Word confirms above, a believer *who has his name IN the book of life, ie, in a SAVED position, can have his name BLOTTED OUT of God's book and end up losing his salvation.* Which is why sanctification is an important part of our faith.
You cannot be truly justified without being sanctified.*
So how important is it to study God's Word and find out the truth for ourselves? [2 Timothy 2:15]. Because it is by living out the Bible's truth in our lives that we become sanctified. We must study God's Word for ourselves. Put it into practice in our lives and we will experience a personal, sanctifying relationship with Jesus Christ.
Sealed unto the day of redemption, he who started a good work will complete it to the day of Jesus Christ. You cannot lose it. If your being sanctified it’s because of the holy spirits permanent presence and work being done in your soul. Any true person can quench it or grieve it but cannot lose it.

Great explanation. Glory be to God.
That was an explanation that actually gives glory to man for making it to heaven and not backsliding.
That's why I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months, I want to keep them.

Thanks for this. When this discussion comes up, I wonder why Coll 1:23 is not often brought up when the discussion about eternal salvation comes up. I think that scriptures clearly mentions here that we alhave a relationship to continue in faith. Once saved always saved is indeed not biblical.
Agrees 👍 with Bro Bernard
So greatly explained. Love hearing Brother Bernard explaining the Bible.. The Holy Word of God. Thank you very much. God bless!

You can't lose your salvation.
Yes, or no?

Hebrews 6, and 10 is very clear, without anyone debating scripture.
10:12 but knowing the truth and being regenerate is not the same thing.
The devil knows the truth, but he’s not saved
We cannot walk away from the relationship that ones began with us entering, consciously, with faith in Jesus, into the new testament with God. The only condition is faith. No way back is forseen. And nobody wants it, neither God nor man, who becomes saved/newborned as a result of it. It is perfectly seen in Jeremiah 32:40. And because of the new condition/nature of the saved man he begins to hate sin and to fight it. In contrast to the carnal unsaved man, who hasn't started these relationships with God, he has a continuous pleasure of doing sinful things and nothing bothers him.

I'm so thankful that our Lord would not "disinherit" a wayward son as David Bernard said he would with his son.
Paul said in 1 Timothy 3:16,"AND WITHOUT CONTROVERSY GREAT IS THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS, GOD was manifest in the FLESH (Jesus), justified in the SPIRIT, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and received up into glory."
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:17,"Now the LORD IS THAT SPIRIT, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." Jesus is speaking in Revelation 2:7,"He that has an ear, let him hear what the SPIRIT says to the churches...." And Paul said in Ephesians 4:4, "For there is one body, ONE SPIRIT....verse 5 ONE LORD, ONE Faith and ONE BAPTISM."
Paul said in Colossians 2:8-10,"Beware lest any man fool you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his GOD, and he shall be my SON."
Paul said in Titus 2:13, "Looking for that blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great GOD and our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST."
Acts 7:59, "And they stoned Stephen, calling upon GOD, and saying LORD JESUS, receive my spirit."
1 John 5:20,"And we know that the SON of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his SON Jesus Christ, THIS IS THE TRUE GOD, AND ETERNAL LIFE."
Isaiah 9:6,"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son (Jesus) is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, ..." Jesus said in Revelation 1:8, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, which was, and is to come, THE ALMIGHTY." Jesus said in Revelation 2:7, "He that has an ear, let him hear what the SPIRIT says unto the Churches....."
Jesus said in Mark 16:16, "He that believes and is BAPTIZED shall be Saved, but he that believes not shall be damned." Jesus addressed what damned means in Luke 16:19-31, Matthew 13:42, Matthew 25:41, Mark 9:45-46, Revelation 20:15, and Revelation 21:8.
Peter said in Acts 4:12, "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is NONE OTHER NAME under heaven given among men whereby we must be SAVED."
Some say the thief on the cross next to Jesus was not Baptized yet Jesus told him he would be with him that day in Paradise.
2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become new.”
Saved are Dead to Sin and can no longer live in it.
Rom 7:20 “Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”
Eze 36:26-27 “A NEW HEART also will I give you, and A NEW SPIRIT will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put MY SPIRIT within you, AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YE SHALL KEEP MY JUDGMENTS, AND DO THEM.”
The saved will never be dominated by sin again.
Rom 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
Now when he sins God will chasten him, but not damn him. 1 Cor. 11:30 “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.” (Sleep for the saved is death of the body, but not the spirit or soul.)
It is the spirit of the saved that is born again. It will never sin again.
Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” See born again in John 3:3.
1 Jn 3:9 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and HE CANNOT SIN, BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD.”
1 Jn 5:18 “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” It is the spirit that will never sin again.
The saved now belongs to Christ
1 Cor 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and YE ARE NOT YOUR OWN?”
The saved person belongs to Christ now and he will never lose him.
5 AND A STRANGER WILL THEY NOT FOLLOW, BUT WILL FLEE FROM HIM: FOR THEY KNOW NOT THE VOICE OF STRANGERS.”
John 10:27 “MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, and I know them, AND THEY FOLLOW ME:”
If a person fails to continue following Christ it proves he was never saved. 1 Jn 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”
1 Jn 3:10 “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
Jesus explains in Mt.
Concerning eternal salvation and life
Heb 5:9 “And being made perfect, he became the author of ETERNAL SALVATION unto all them that obey him;” The obedience mentioned is to Repent and Believe the Gospel. Mar 1:15 “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Joh 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE, and shall not come into condemnation; but IS passed from death unto life.”
The words hath and is are present tense, meaning the saved now have it, not something yet in the future.
1 Jn 3:10 “In this the children of God are MANIFEST, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
This is the effect of genuine salvation. Do you really understand salvation?

"Without the first century church"? Paul said that if anybody teach a gospel other than what I teach, let him be anathema, accursed.
What about a saint of God who had obeyed the Acts 2:38 message and experienced it then backslid, are you saying they can't repent on their deathbed?
What would you say ti those that say if you fall away from God you never was saved in the beginning?
I am witnessing to a gentleman that believes eternal salvation but he also believes in obedience to Gods word.
His thoughts are as I said if someone backslides they never was really saved.
4:11 then you were never saved, though, because the Holy Spirit draws meant to repentance. So the Holy Spirit will convict you and bring you to repentance. You’ve described the man that does not have the Holy Spirit if they disregard their need for repentance.
Short answer: yes
To God be all the glory. Soo blessed by your discussion Rev. David Bernard.
I think Oneness Pentecostals historically focused so much on the nature of the Godhead that they never mastered the sin question.

the issue I have with the idea of conditional salvation is THIS...
1 John 3:9 tells us...
"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he CANNOT sin, because he is born of God."
anyone who believes they are Saved... but Yet STILL chooses to sin WILLFULLY...as they please and/or believes that they can determine what their relationship with God will be...
