I didn't hear the band until long after this release. I find this redolent of R.E.M. Not that I'm complaining. This one is brilliant. Pollard grew into his voice and ended up with no "Stipe" at all. He is a man who just seems to keep on writing amazing tunes and who refused to give in. Thanks Robert!
This album is the record of R.E.M. not produced. The GBV did never can denied the influence from the Athens band. Probably this two groups stay forever hiw how better in this particular mode from making sounds.
Best band to ever exist
Amen to that!
pollard writes it as he plays, i learned that a long time ago.
@@doplardom He has to in order to get out all of his songs.

A simply beautiful song to remind us that life is worth living.
And as the angels descend from heaven . playing Rickenbackers…and singing GBV.
Bob does it for me every time!
Old GBV is so great. You can hear the Old REM influence. Luckily "Old" GBV didnt turn into New REM. LOL
Love this!!! got to be in my top ten of all GBV songs!!!
Oh man Uncle Bob has a habit of cheering me up
Thanks for posting ..... amazing tune!!!
My new favourite song. Today, anyway.
I’m from Dayton and I can’t even cry.
That's normal.
When you hear something this great you get a small piece of what Pete must have thought when he heard Uncle Bob playing his songs for the first time…
Great song!
He turned the faucet and the hooks started flowing.
This is better than REM
REM is shit
That's crazy talk.
I feel u, Murmur's a pretty special album though. I'm still spinning that same Vinyl I bought 40 years ago. Amazing debut by GBV nonetheless.
Love this song. One of my favourites. Actually prefer it to the lo-fi records that followed.
taco buffalo bird dog and jesus
That song is very unknown great by GBV
Since two other people wrote two comments each..
Everybody’s hyped about these fuckin guitars 🎸

I thought I should write two comments too..
I want GVB on constant rotation on my deathbed.
And for double comment exactitude, here's the surprise live version - th-cam.com/video/NRbv-Bqg9AY/w-d-xo.html
I keep forgetting Bob was 28 when this came out
Very, very different from the GbV that would become in later years.......
