I’m on the Cotswolds and I agree, I think we got away it quite lightly compared to some parts of the country. One tree came down on the through road, but the farmer was out there clearing it all away really quickly. I think Sunday was our worst day, heavier rain and the wind went went round to the north which hammered the front of the house pretty hard. Haven’t had much rain since then.

More roof is better than concrete. Could you put a lean too off the big barn the tree team use for equipment? Along the yard side. Shallow wide sheds are better for kit than deep narrow sheds as the thing you want is always at the back.

Could you not clean up the area down the side of your main shed/workshop (That second old cabin next to holy's kitchen running down to where the bale trailer is stored) and add a lean to roof down the length of the building. This would give you a place for machinery to be put under a roof without taking up potential cattle expansion space?

A nice idea, but financially impractical I’m afraid. When dad built that barn he didn’t plan for any extension, there is a 4’ + ground level fall from the North end to the South end of that barn. The brambles etc hide the tonnes of rubble made up ground used to level the floor. I would have to dig it all out, inside the shed as well, and install retaining walls. The cost o& all that would double the price for the project.

I am always distressed when I see a fortune in painted steel sitting around waiting for the next job.Hay gets nicely covered but implements sit out, but cost twice as much. Build your equipment shed as big as you possibly can. You will fill it to the edges.
