You might think the warnings about the bull are over the top but they are not. Always be careful. Unfortunately this sometimes happens when animals fight each to see who is dominant. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
Evan we enjoy your videos. So sorry about Curly. Just keep an eye on the bull. Especially when they are breeding. Again thank you for sharing your farm with us.
Your homestead is getting to really look like a big farm. You have sheep, chicken, ducks, cows, pigs, etc. it so so nice. When spring come , hopefully you have babies running around the farmland. You and Rebecca have done some fantastic jobs to improve you homestead. I’m glad you allowed us to follow you all with your journey. Be very careful around that bull, he could do you harm. Love to watch your videos. Bye for now from Alabama
Sorry about the loss of the ram. One great thing about your channel is the honest way you share your learning experiences. Also, have you considered hand feeding a small amount of bottled milk to the bull calf. I think hand feeding the bull calf will make him used to you handling him.
I, long ago, drove into town from where I lived. There were two bulls fighting on a hillside early in the morning. I was gone most of the day and was on my way home, probably 5 hours later, and not only were the bulls still going at it but half the town was parked on the roadside watching.
I’m so sorry to hear about Curly. We just lost our jersey milk cow to pneumonia, so we know what you’re going through. It’s tough. Especially when your animals are somewhat part of the family and not just a pasture animal. Hope y’all have a great Christmas!
I have watched and enjoyed this channel "forever" 😅 and the decision to keep a bull is the FIRST decision with which I've disagreed. Glad that so many have expressed concern. If a local rental bull is available, why take on the expense (and risks) of owning one? It's not as if a bull is needed year around. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. At least we won't see it if there is a serious injury. 😔
So sorry to hear about your loss, it’s never easy when they become part of the family. Oliver will come around he just needs to get adjusted to everyone in the pasture
Black angus are top shelf beef but never turn your back on them. Especially if you Think they are getting friendly, they will think your playing and BAM you get hurt. Bulls are all muscle and can kill you; I know cause we raised Black angus for 45 yrs, till my husband passed. So, Hello from Michigan, stay safe...BOTH of you. And Merry Christmas, God bless.
We raised “black baldy” cattle. Hereford cow with an angus bull. You really get the best of both breeds. But I’ve witnessed angus bulls do some devastating damage. We bought an angus from the bull sale one year. Bought it home and the first thing it did was snap off a railroad tie at the ground. We loaded him back up, sold him, and purchased another. Always hated putting the bulls back together after they were finished with breeding cause it always meant there would be a lot of fence to mend.
Thanks for sharing with us Evan and Rebecca, so sorry for your loss of a Ram on your homestead. Hope things settle to your benefit. Hope that the newly purchased Bull "Oliver/Ollie" grows and works out for you over many years . We have a lot of delivery problems with FED-X especially this time of the year, new inexperienced drivers that don't care. We expect damaged boxes from UPS but they do look for the correct delivery spot. Stay safe and keep up the great work around there. Fred.
Bot to be cold Hearted ( I was raised on a Farm). If you have livestock you will have death that happens seemly for no reason! It Happens, more often than people realize! But I do hope that you put Curly to good Use! (Mutton tastes great!)!!
That is sad, the fact that the Ram died quickly would usually indicate a broken neck or deadly concussion from a skull fracture that stopped either its breathing or stopped its heart from beating. Rams can also die from heat exhaustion when fighting for prolonged periods in hot weather.
On the totes, possibly cut a piece of old/used water hose, split it down the middle and use about 3 zip ties around the sharp edges, but then again, a grinder will knock off the sharp edges. We really enjoy the ideas, videos, and jobs that you do that we keep coming back for more. Awesome music also!
Our funniest power confrontation was between the bull and dad's 85 Toyota pickup. You should try making an adaptation for the splitter allowing you cut multiple kindling at once. Thanks for the video.
A little over a month ago we bought a young year old bull, but he has a way to go to get to breeding. I hope you have good luck with the 18 month old bull, we had one breeding at about that age a few years ago, but had to sell him for new stock. I've been having shipping issues with some of my packages too, but just late, no damaged items. Have a good night!
For the sharp burrs on those totes, how about using a pool noodle split lengthwise to cover those cut surfaces? You could probably secure it with some zip ties.
It's a shame there isn't a local allotment or garden centre that would take those plastic IBC tanks to store water. Very handy for keeping on a shared market garden/allotment space. Loving the re-purposing of the cages to firewood storage, great idea 👍
Such an exciting time having the Bulls. Really looking forward to the new babies. Have you thought about dehorning Ellie? I hear it is really easy to band the horns. No pain, and after a while they just fall off. Ranching Sodak uses the banding method. So sorry for your loss of Curly. Best wishes, D
Hi Evan. I have seen other homesteaders use totes for fire wood . some have cut the plastic liner diagonally and used this as a roof. maybe something to consider while you rebuild your firewood shed.
From old white haired farmer NEVER turn your back on a bull. Angus are at the top of the list but all can be bad to deal with. Be nice one minute take you down the next. Be careful around them.
There is a channel called Outdoors with the Morgan's, and he sells fire starter bags of wood chips and candle wax I believe it is, mixed together, that he can't hardly keep in stock since it sells out so quick...but all it takes is a hand full of this stuff lit up, below the stack of split wood, and there's a fire going pretty quick. It's not expensive for how many fires you can start with it, and it eliminates the need for kindling. Just a thought, if you might be interested in something like that, Evan, or maybe someone else might be. I'm sure something like it can be bought somewhere else as well, but I don't know where that is.
the two rams came together when their testosterone levels were off the chart - Moe might have got in a head shot but I'd be thinking an overload on the heart ....
Enjoy your videos. Please be aware always of your surroundings. Bulls and horses are dangerous no matter if they were raised by you. We’ve raised them both in our younger days. Merry Christmas
I am sure you already know this, but just in case. You said that Tyrone is a calm mild mannered bull. When the heifers come into estrus and his hormones start to boil, do not turn you back on him or allow yourself to get into a corner, he is a bull. Have a very merry Christmas.
Never trust a bull ever! The older they get and the longer you have them the less safe you become. If you have to go in the field with them make sure you have the side by side or preferably the tractor with you. Be safe.
A friend of mine who was a old time cattle farmer said on a few occasions had to take cover under his vehicle to get away from a bull. Don't mess around, NEVER turn your back to a bull.
Hi Guys love your channel sorry you lost one of your Rams. I used to always put a new Ram in with the older Ram in a small confined space so that they can work out the pecking order but dont have the space to have a big run up. So they still get to butt heads and work things out but the velocity isnt as great
I grew up on a farm we had a bull with our two milk cows went I took them from the pasture to milk we had to take him along or he would break out of the pasture. Hundreds of times no problem then one day he charged me if there wasn’t a farm wagon near for me to dive under he would have gored me. My dog puppy tried to stop the bull but the pull through him and injured him. I would not keep two bulls in the same pen.
Thanks for the update Evan, just that time of year. Yes, getting things done inside is good that way when it is cold enough you will have a warm project or two. Of course then the ground will freeze and you will be extra busy. Such is life I guess.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's probably too late now, and I also don't know if it's possible, but too bad your couldn't donate Curly's body to U of I. Don't they have a vet program? It would have been interesting to know what exactly happened to him.
Hi Evan, it's normal for rams to fight each other especially when they come together from another flock for the reason of determining who is the leader of the flock. I experienced the same case as you, only that I saw the moment when the rams collided with their heads and when one ram died, his skull was cracked. You should hear the sound of the fight of the rams of the Pramenka breed, which have horns, the most similar sounds to you are as if you are hitting an empty barrel. The important thing is that you are okay, and there will always be rams. Greetings from Croatia from your companion and all the best for the upcoming holidays
Thank you for sharing about your ups & downs. Failure, losses and setbacks are never easy but, it's good to evaluate and learn from the difficulties. Moving on can become a challenge but, the goal is to gain success from the lessons. It's easy to say. Passing on experiences helps to teach and guide ourselves & others. The sincere sharing is appreciated. Another benefit is gaining mentors and becoming one too. Certainly prayers & blessings to you and Rebecca ☝ 🙏 🙌 💪 ❤ 🎯💯% in His Holy Name for all your needs, desires and goals during the end of year celebrations as we all head into a greater, better new year. Appreciate all that you share.
that calico kitten is amazingly beautiful and sweet
You might think the warnings about the bull are over the top but they are not. Always be careful. Unfortunately this sometimes happens when animals fight each to see who is dominant. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
Sorry to hear about Curley. Hopefully, things will calm down so you can have a peaceful Christmas. Stay safe and God Bless.
Evan we enjoy your videos. So sorry about Curly. Just keep an eye on the bull. Especially when they are breeding. Again thank you for sharing your farm with us.
So sorry for your loss.
Love watching all the livestock! Great looking bull's!!!

Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead 🎄🏡🐔🐓🐣🐥🐤🦃🦆🦢🦮🐈⬛🐑🐄🐖🐷🐝🎣🎏🐠🐟🎥👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Had to order a new tshirt, dont care when it shows up, but the other one is starting to wear out! Cheers, and Merry Christmas! Enjoy it!
For the sharp edges on the totes, a pool noodle or tubing insulation would be a good addition 😮😊

Very good advice . Bulls are not to be trusted. This was told to me by my Grand dad he was a 5 th generation dairy farmer
That bull was eyeing Evan up if you noticed. Danger is when you don't see it coming.
Those Tote Racks are a Very Unique firewood container. Thats truly the way to Organize your firewood
The racks are an idea just a little bit younger than the totes.
Best wishes from Northern Canada

I use the totes for firewood and I pinched the cut ends with pliers to flatten them and then covered them with sections of old garden hose.
Thanks for sharing with us Evan and Rebecca, so sorry for your loss of a Ram on your homestead. Hope things settle to your benefit. Hope that the newly purchased Bull "Oliver/Ollie" grows and works out for you over many years .

I'm dying for pond videos and wood shed videos.
Thank you for the update. Sorry about Charlie. Watched him over the years.
Got my shirt and it’s great. Thanks Rebekah. And you too evan

My Tshirt came today - thank you ! I love it! Hope you get stickers made with the colored logo- i would buy one
Love watching ❤. So sorry about Curly.
The ones you got to watch out for are the cows with calves. Those are the ones that will mow you down. The bulls are usually pretty gentle.
yep, had a cow with a calf cut out of the herd and come at me and my horse as we were cutting thru the big pastures.
My condolences on the loss of Curly. The baby bull, Oliver, is cute. Hope the big bull, Tyrone, behaves himself. Be safe please both of you.❤
Again many thanks for sharing your experience with us all mate great video as you do
My dad's prize show ram, Master Bates (a dorset) died when he butted a bull dozer blade. Sorry about your loss.
You should consider doing a quick video on your pets, I always get a laugh at your cats as they are always in the background of your videos.
I’ve heard some terrible stories about a bull that people thought was tame, and it ended up ending someone’s life
NEVER turn your back on a bull. NEVER.
I'm Canadian and Canada post is on strike, No packages moving here lol . RIP Curly 🐑💙

Hello Evan,Rebecca lots of comments on the bull. Enjoyed your video have a great day.

New subscriber here! Love your cows ❤

Try Fire starter 🔥 from Outdoors with the Morgan's, great for you to start your stove, and you support another great channel
Yes cleaning up workshop #1 priority. Inside projects through winter is on your mind.
Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing. 🐈⬛🐂
Great Video..

Whole new dynamic for the farmstead! This is going to be fun!
The cat in the background is having a great time rolling or playing
Evan, for the wood crates, putting bicycle tyres round the edges, will stop all the sharp edges, Ralph Wales UK.
Great job my friend. You have it all looking pretty good. Keep it up and thanks for the ride.
Order earlier! As always THANKS for the vidieos!!!!
Another great video guys!👍🏻
Just a few Acres,Pete Larson bulls both do that every fall when he combines the herd for winter
Beautiful bull and sorry about the ram😢❤
Hi good evening Evan from Indiana
the two rams came together when their testosterone levels were off the chart - Moe might have got in a head shot but I'd be thinking an overload on the heart ....
Put tubing or a hose over the metal to make gaurds.
Enjoy your videos. Please be aware always of your surroundings. Bulls and horses are dangerous no matter if they were raised by you. We’ve raised them both in our younger days. Merry Christmas
Oliver is a great name for this bull.
I am sure you already know this, but just in case. You said that Tyrone is a calm mild mannered bull. When the heifers come into estrus and his hormones start to boil, do not turn you back on him or allow yourself to get into a corner, he is a bull. Have a very merry Christmas.
Hey you could make a floating dock with the plastic tote parts

Those IBC bladders work great as a roof when you cut em on the angle and set em on top.
Al at Lumnah Acres did the same thing but they get tons of snow.
The farm is a place of life and death and it goes on and on and on. Life. RIP Curley.
Sorry for the lost....

Congratulations on your two bulls. I hope Tyrone gets the two heifers pregnant before he leaves.
Turn an empty tote over by the splitter to put your kindling on as you are splitting.
You had saved some logs for ....inoculation of shitake mushrooms. Any progress?...Dr Ashok Nadkarni.
Outdoors with the Morgan's sell fire starter for sale on their TH-cam channel .Works great
Doesn’t matter if he is tame or not never turn your back on him please!!!
