- Dying Light 2 Stay Human is often let down by clumsy writing, unbalanced progression, clunky combat, and technical issues, but its excellent parkour, engaging choice and consequence mechanics, and the expertly realized threat of the Infected make for a fun open world free-running romp nonetheless.

Funny thing is that I’m seeing a pattern like the first one, the ones that like it absolutely love it, the ones that aren’t too crazy about it seem to agree it’s a good game with potential…. Interesting and gives me a bit more hype as an absolutely lover of the first game.

I played all of the dead island ones so when dying light 1 came out I absolutely loved it, like dead island but with free running, can’t wait to play the 2nd!

All i care about is the fact that it's fun. The first was just that fun, didnt have a great story or characters and had some bugs but it was still fun to play. So it sounds like this is the perfect sequel

@@stackinbread365 In this game's world, everyone is infected with a mutated strain of the virus. There's no antizin for it, you can only stop the virus' progression through UV light. The zombies are also affected by this, in the day they're slow and weak, at night they're stronger and faster, and actually more of them come out at night. Night time is when indoors are less populated by infected, and you can loot special areas, but the outdoors are absolutely packed with zombies and special infected. The whole night mechanic is only running from zombies, cause you can't fight the vast amount of infected+specials chasing you, with a timer above your head.
The night immunity timer isn't going anywhere, the whole game is built around the day/night cycle, and there are systems dependent on it. There are ways to increase the total amount of time, or add time to the timer with consumables. So that's something.
I don't like how the virus has progressed in this sequel, they just seem like pseudo vampires now, weak in the sunlight, stronger & faster & more in number in the dark. The original game's virus was more believable. So far no reviews have spoken about the night timer or progression of the virus, they've either just accepted it as is or don't really care to understand it. Maybe it's explained better in the prologue.

I'm mostly in this for the gameplay. I know a lot was made about the story in the build up but knowing how serviceable at best the story of the first was, I was kinda taking all that with a pinch of salt. So although it seems as though it won't surprise me story wise, I'm still really looking forward to it.

Dl1 didnt have dialogue choices that influence what ending you get. Don’t forget theres no new game plus so whatever choices you make are stuck for that character’s single playthrough. Only endgame viability or replay value is playing coop with your friends to see what dialogue they chose. I left harkon instead of trying to save him which eventually butterfly effected to where we fought to the death and being forced to personally kill him rather than deciding to keep lawan from killing him. Which leads to him getting away if you keep lawan from killing him and later saving her life and giving you a haply ending to walk off with rosario dawson into the sunset whilst also saving your sister. Instead of my ending which was either to let lawan (rosario) die and fire missles to save most the people in the city or to save her and not fire missiles resulting in many deaths.(not that it matters bc you are just brought back before the epilogue of all that to finish side missions and get any collectibles/level up more). Techlands ONLY endgame plan was coop and future dlc’s
This is the kind of game that you need to wait several months to enjoy at its fullest. Because of the patches and incoming content.

"Platinum" edition is anything but platinum... I got it too, and we don't get access to the timed events techland does for Halloween and Christmas, or the ones that are just for fun, such as van crane or moon boots... so no, platinum edition is NOT great, and if it's any foreshadowing of the upcoming game... it's gonna SUCK... I WAS 100% behind techland, UNTIL I got DL "platinum" edition

There's a lot of bugs and glitches like falling through the World getting locked out of quests and cutscenes just freezing along with save files getting corrupted. This is why you NEVER Pre-order a game.
One day you people will realise this.
Most game bugs and weird issues are on consoles because when i preorder cyberpunk playing it on pc after launch the game was not that bad i even finished cyberpunk 2077 story and all of its side quests so the game is not that bad i even have fun playing it

So far this sounds like a game I'm going to have a lot of fun. The cheese story and acting are one of my favorites about the first one.
Plus, the devs will drop a lot of DLC along with improvements. So a 7 rating is really good. My hype levels were always low. I'm not disappointed by the least.

Everything looks unbelievable - except for nighttime. 100% of the nighttime footage I have seen shows everything completely illuminated, like a cartoon. It appears Techland has eliminated the scary, unknown darkness factor as you move around at night. I really hope I'm wrong, the nighttime atmosphere was my favorite aspect of DL1.
already said the darkness outside can’t be the same as inside a building so yeah outside has to be lit up more so the atmosphere can change when you enter a building
theres a vid somewhere that kinda explains why the nights r brighter, it basically boils down to how the light cycle works. in dl1 it was really dark within the first few mins of the night bc the moon was usually behind the tower, tho after a few mins it usually brightened up and u didnt really need to use a flashlight. i do admit that they might need to turn down the night brightness if it isnt fixed on the day 1 patch
I can't remember which review I've recently seen but it does show some actual dark nightime.
EDIT: Gamespot review at about 7:57. It's much darker between the buildings than on the roof because it's not in direct moonlight, which does make sense.
The reason night is as dark as you believe it to be irl is for the same reasons interrogators have a light behind them. High light levels behind things cast those things in darkness and when you have lights everywhere, you also have darkness everywhere too. However, remove those lights and have just a central source like the moon and night is brighter than you might expect.

I agree with your assessment of the crafting, traversing the city and the whole sneaking around Zombies. Conversations , combat and story I also agree, clunky at best. However I do like how you are forced to gain skills to improve your movements and combat. I think it's a great way to force a person to go for skill points that allow you add to your skills set, else there would be less motivation for trying, say something new. Same thing with getting inhibitors, you are forced to explore the unknown that otherwise, some may skip because they don't want to "Deal" with it. I think is a great Idea. Good review

Good review, although I have to say, in regards to the combat, it really did look like you were shit at it. It's looked great in all the videos I've watched and it's been praised by most reviews I've seen. Really does seem like a case of "I'm bad at it therefore it's bad".

Definitely interesting seeing the mixed reviews. I can deal with minor bugs etc. I definitely am leaning towards getting the game especially as the first one was one of my favourite games.

@@JPIZZLE-um5dq The story wasn’t necessarily the best in dying light 1 but I did enjoy it for what it was. As long as the story is somewhat engaging I’m happy. I’m not expecting a masterpiece in story telling as dying lights charm is more in the gameplay.
Yeah the complaints just seem to be bugs and some people disliking the story. I don't care much about bugs and I'm sure I'll still enjoy the story for what it is. I'm not expecting some story as good as red dead 2's because dying light's story was never amazing and that didn't matter because everything else was so great.

I loved the hell out of the first game, I'll definitely love this one!
The game looks like it has potential, I’ll definitely wait and look forward to any addition they add, I’ll definitely buy it once it goes on sale but for some of the main aspects of video sakes being story, combat, and world design I definitely think world design id top notch, but the lack luster areas would be the melee combat and story.
I agree the skill tree would feel rather stingey but I believe it would also make it feel more rewarding watching your character grow from beginning to end

Update, there is a massive softlock if you die while at night! Sometimes you will respawn in a safehouse you haven't unlocked and the wardrobe will be still in front of the door. You can't touch that safehouse's generator (so you can never unlock that safehouse for the rest of the game, as far as I know) but even worse is that you will be STUCK FOREVER IN A DEATH LOOP without multiplayer!
If people are in the softlock and need help getting out of it, first crouch and go to the right side of the wardrobe. Go as far into that corner as possible and have someone join your game. The person that joins the game needs to hold "s" or whatever their backwards key is (this glitch to escape might be more difficult to pull off for people with controllers). They will hopefully glitch through the wardrobe to the other side and can open the door and free the person inside. Then RUN to the nearest UV because the stuck person's immunity timer is decreasing the entire time you try to pull this off. Congrats, you're free!

I was playing this last night and man the intro is fucking INTENSE. I love this game so far. I do hate the meter though like I want to explore without having a timer the whole time.
I love the parkour to this game but the thing I don’t really like is how the parkour looks in the new one there’s more moves but the mechanics don’t look the same like it did in the first one when it comes to parkour

It's cheap, available and it gives you a feel for that whole zombie open world experience.
I did just that to offer myself a more rounded perspective and not rely upon memory alone, so glad I did.
Did you forget to use a pop-filter when recording the voice over? The impactful POPS, and also the frequent heavy and clearly audible nose breaths in this video made it very hard for me to stay focused on what was being said. You might want to manually lower the volume of the waveform inbetween sentences. And also ease down on the compressor. I don't believe this is an issue that your uploads usually have? 🤔

I was concerned by the movement and speed early on, somewhat disappointing to see they didn't really address it after the community beta, people told them it was too slow and floaty and they were like "but we added a dash button wait till launch". psh w/e

If this game just builds upon the last one im in. I loved the freedom the game gave you in a zombie world, and the night times were amazingly tense.
I hope they have added like a ton of Easter eggs in dying light 2 that was one of my favorite things to do in the first game

Never played dying light before but it seems to me like its a Mirrors Edge game with zombies. Doesnt seem like you can kick a bunch of zombies ass with a gun. Are there bosses in the game or is the object of the game is to survive and run away?
Yes there are bosses maybe you should play it though it shouldn’t cost that much play the first one it’s better than mirror Edge
I've got a feeling that this one is going to enter a lot of 'underappreciated gems' lists in the years to come.
So far I'm having an absolute blast, but I can also tell that it's definitely not a game for everybody.
What I didnt like about the first one was the bad story and dull npc dialogues, unrealistic damage systems (a rusty pipe on hard difficulty should not take 50 hits on one bandits head)
In nightmare mode, a bandit can take several arrows lodged into their brain
So you have to make a choice you might not morally pick just to favor your gameplay style... theres gonna be a clear OP option at some point people will figure it out.
