My 99 just rolled over 294,000. It’s birthday present came about 150ish miles just before; new pads, rotors, hubs/studs/bearings, cv axels, upper/lower balljoints. Putting new shoes in the rear in two days:)
This makes me really want to buy a used Tahoe. Everyone i know with that generation of vehicle has nothing bad to say about it. And they seem extremely reliable. No matter how much of a beating they take, they'll still get you home.
i must say the video quality and the editing skills are exceptional! keep up the good work! p.s. my 96 suburban has 375k and my 350 has never been rebuilt.
Please advise, I was planning to buy Chevrolet tahoe 1998 5.7 Imported from Japan. Is it going to give any Mechanical enginee failure in future. The mileage on the car is around 63000.

Built in Janesville, Wisconsin; my family worked at the plant for 3 generations, my city loves these full size GM suvs as we built millions of them here! I’d love to own one.
@@jestertech3790 why not just put new engine why sell it and Im going to get a 97 Chevy Tahoe but it's a 350 vortec with fuel injectors and all that I think it still has distributor though
@@worstnightmare9772 The only reason I sold it is because I wanted some thing 4wd, it was still running and driving fine. th-cam.com/video/KBn77P0YnjU/w-d-xo.html At 340k the trans blew the rear seal and cooked itself due to the sheer wear on the outputshaft bushing. th-cam.com/video/kiQ3xZ95zTk/w-d-xo.html I ended up swapping in a TH350 I picked up for $150 and continued driving it for a few months before selling it.
Lost my red 99 chevy tahoe to manifolds rusting off. Got to the point where it sounded like I was putting diesel in the car, but it turns out the muffler just wasn't attached to the car anymore. It had around 250k miles and I was willing to put the 2k into the repair, but it had other issues such as a transmission that was ready to go so we scrapped it instead in June 2020. Currently looking for a new 99, hopefully I can find one.
@@edenc.m4576 Oh yeah, the south and coastal states usually have quite a few in stellar condition. Someday I hope to be out that way looking for a replacement.
240k on my 99 4wd 4dr blue. Fully optioned. Just did the Cats and the fan switch, and it needs a DS front diff bearing (also pretty common). It cost money to drive it, but a lot less than a payment book, and I do the work myself, so I don't always mind expected issues. Too bad it's the swan song for the Gen 1 SBC, I know those inside and out, having drag raced them for years. I hear the LS is OK, but I don't feel like learning another platform. Thanks for the look into this great all-purpose truck.
My beloved '74 GMC C1500 has at least 340k on it, (5 digit odometer) It has it's original 250 i6 and has a 3 speed (3 on the tree) manual transmission. It has seen many harsh Illinois winters, and was abused as a farm truck before I bought it. Despite this, it still runs hard even with its massive amount of blow by and whiped out camshaft. I drive it every day. (there is a whole lot more about it on my channel)
Good that it has so many compatible transmissions available. If you're a DIY guy go to the junkyard and grab any one of those and save yourself some coin

My GF drives a 2011 prius with 280k miles on it. Original everything, only maintenance on it has been typical oil, 2 break pad changes its entire life, and tires.
