In some countries, thieves used to lose a hand, women who had affairs still have their noses cut off, or acid thrown on them, or in some places a boy who had sex with the wrong girl isn't punished, but his sister can be raped by all the men in their village as punishment. In Egypt, a woman with children under eight gets custody of her children, but when the kids turn eight, they become the property of their father and the mother has no rights.
