      I’m a teacher. We are trained to keep ALL doors (external ones as well as internal classrooms) locked at all times. Admin makes rounds and checks doors and teachers who do not are severely reprimanded. Many external doors will remain unlocked if you turn the key a certain way, but remain locked if you turn the key another way. There’s a chance this Uvalde teacher may have turned her key the wrong way. Seeing someone crash their car outside the school likely did cause her to freak out and shut the door, and she just assumed it was already set to lock behind her. Not an excuse, just a possible explanation.

Now she left the door open because she was waiting for a delivery, a little girl has said the shooting started after the kids came in from recess so maybe that's why the door was left open. Idk. The unnecessary complications of the district having it's own undermanned and underequipped police department which relied heavily on the Uvalde PD for situations beyond their capabilities. They didn't even have their own 911 operator. Calls went through the Uvalde department and were then sent on to them.
      Due to jurisdiction, the CISD chief was in charge but all of the officers were Uvalde PD. For whatever reason the chief was not informed of the children's 911 calls and he had arrived at the beginning of a ~40 to ~50 minute lull in the gunfire. Thus with the information he had, he believed (and no one told him differently) that they were dealing with a shooter locked in a room alone and not posing an immediate threat. Rather than rush it and out of respect for the strength of the shooter's defensive position, he decided to wait until better equipment etc. arrived before sending anyone in. Once the mistake in his situational understanding was realized however, a team was sent in.

      I let them go first to be identified by the main office, then I let them close the door, for me to be identified.

    As a former administrator, there were constant reminders of NO propping doors open with anything. It is sometimes a challenge to change habits from former administrators. We later installed badge operated door locks, thereby removing the "need" to prop open doors. Teachers also had to keep classroom doors locked while teaching. We, administrators, kept keys, phones and walkie talkies with us at all times. When teachers went outside for recess, walkie talkies were always taken. The secretary also had a walkie talkie charged and on at all times as a just in case back up. We had many more safety procedures in place. However, none of this would save us from an assault rifle, if that situation had ever occurred. Having these safety procedures in place just gives us potentially life-saving seconds to try to seek safety and warn others. These guns in the hands of the wrong people is the real issue.

    Folks, we have heard nothing from the Administrators. Were the teachers running the school? Also, yes, the teacher is culpable, but I want to see the custodian who took *ONE HOUR* to locate the key to a classroom. The Principal doesn't have a master key? How could everyone employed by an institution in this town be so incompetent? Except the mom who ran into the school, and the off-duty agent who ran to the school in 7 minutes with his barber in tow, and his barber's shotgun. That's a real man.

      Please. Surely you're not trying to make the custodian the fall guy. I'm pretty sure the police department carrying out the proper protocol for an active shooter at the school doesn't hinge on whether the custodian can find the classroom key.
      Maybe it would have helped the situation if the school district chief of police arrived at the scene with a radio. Not taking 77 minutes before he gave the order for the police to storm the classroom(s) would likely have been a BIT of a help also.
      Blame the teacher, blame the custodian. Bottom line, the school district police force did NOT follow proper protocol for an active shooter. In fact, they went AGAINST what their training program advised to do.

    I used to deliver for Uber Eats and the lack of security in those elementary schools is frightening. The teachers would expect me to deliver their food to their classrooms many times. The teacher is one of the reasons why so many individuals died at the hands of the shooter. She had no reason to open a secure door. She violated the security of the school. If something was going to be delivered I should have been done through the front entrance. The school Resourse police officer should have been there. Where was he at? Three individuals should be held accountable for the deaths. The teacher for not securing the door, the campus officer who abandoned his post, and the incompetent Police chief who didn't have a police radio. Also for taking over the incident Command position and not allowing anybody to enter and take down the shooter. Did the chief attend an Incident Command training course. Probably not. He appears not to be qualified for the position that he is holding. The only reason that this individuals are obtaining Attorneys is because they know they are the cause of the deaths of so many.

Nothing about what happened at Uvalde makes sense. Even if the door was unlocked, there were 12 mins before the school was breached. Every teacher should have had their kids on the floor, and every classroom should have had lights off and inner doors locked and barricaded. The code should have gone out over the intercom, because the assailant allegedly was shooting at random classrooms from outside. As far as I'm concerned, every admin at that school should be fired for negligence, OR someone needs to start telling the truth! There is nothing to stop the shooter from firing at walls and doors, but every classroom should have been locked and barricaded long before he got in the building, WTF REALLY happened???

      I agree. In my opinion, the school admins failed those kids just as bad as the police. Either the door didn’t fully shut, which would’ve caused it to lock. Or the door was already faulty, and never locked when fully shut. Also, the teachers were notified about the shooting through an email. They should’ve been notified through an intercom, while he was approaching the school. This would’ve given the teachers time to close and lock their own doors. The scenario would’ve played out much different if he had to try to breach the school doors and then the classroom doors. That would’ve given law enforcement time to reach him while he was still outside, before he barricaded himself in a classroom.

  • @jenniferross4646
    @jenniferross4646 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In the initial video, the door was open and the Murderer was seen wondering and looking around before entering the building. Bottom line, the teacher violated the rule and policy by propping the door open when she knows that it violated the school policy set in place by the Department of Education and it's in place as a safety precaution to prevent situations such as this unnecessary and horrific case scenario. Part of her job duty is to provide a safe and secure environment for the children, that's first and foremost, also, to provide the same safety measures for staffers, herself and others who enter the facility. She shouldn't have opened the door and propped it open at all and all visitors should enter through the front door only, they must receive permission to enter the building, this is proper protocol. Bottom line, this teacher violated policies, she allowed the perpetrator access to be able to enter the building and she has the audacity to to try to justify parents losing their children, children being traumatized and murdered along with their friends, classmates and teachers taken from their children, husbands, family and friends as well. This teacher caused the death of one of the teachers husband because he couldn't handle the trauma of losing his wife and this teacher has left their four children without their parents. The fact that she just admitted to propping the door open and admitted that she thought that the door had locked, she admitted to not complying with the school rules, regulations, protocol, whichever word one chooses to use. The three things that we didn't hear was, I messed up, my failure allowed the gunman access into the building and I'm sorry. She should not only be Terminated, Teacher's License Revoked For Good, and Criminal Charges Brought Against Her. She Should Be Locked Up. The initial video didn't lie, we saw the door open, we say the gunman wondering before entering the school and the parents need to retain legal representation before evidence become MIA or Tampered With. I highly doubt that the investigative team gave us Misleading Information, the proof is on the video footage. Why didn't office staffers pick up on the propped open door prior to the perpetrator entering the door? The camera should cover the full perimeter from all sides.
    Bottom Line, This Could Have Been Prevented Had The Door Been Locked, Facts.

Also it was always drilled in us to never leave a door prop open. This lady said she removed the rock and closed the door and the door didn’t lock. So all of a sudden this door is broken where it’s not locking when it’s shut. I’m sorry but I don’t believe this lady. She doesn’t even seem believable. Except 19 of them , they didn't get to watch the video , sadly they never will . Neither will two of her fellow teachers ! No blame or remorse in her voice at all ??? She left it open. She didn’t run back. She should’ve called the police. She is trying to make herself seem like some super hero or something. This lady says she’s in the car, sees the guy with the gun (now there are people yelling “he’s got a gun”) runs back past the guy with the gun to the door the guy with a gun is going to and kicks the rock and goes inside? Ok so why didn’t the guy shoot her? She was running in to tell everyone he was coming and it would’ve ruined his plan. She’s a liar not a hero. The door would have been locked had she not propped the door open in the first place. She could’ve just said she left the rock there. She is the cause of this. The gunman would’ve shot a window out and got in of he wanted to bad enough. She should be fired not only for teaching kids to lie and putting their safety last out of convenience to her. Why aren’t delivery drivers going to the front door anyway? They are bypassing all security measures. You don’t know who these delivery guys are! They could be pedophiles and/or kidnappers, rapists, thieves or arsonists. Just because someone works for UPS or FedEx does not mean they are safe. On the contrary. I worked at a FedEx hub checking in trucks. They are not the most trustworthy people at all.

    All schools should be built with one main entrance/check in with several doors in other areas that function only as an exit in case of emergency! Most hospitals, military and government buildings already have this standard in place. No one should ever have access through a back door to our children! No door should ever be propped open for any reason whatsoever. The wolf is always waiting.
