Simon Phillips... Well done on this track, it sounds great, and good work as usual. I just wanted to say to you:
I don't know what happened to Toto, but your work on the 25th Anniversary was when Toto was at its peak. You looked like you were having so much fun. The sound of the drums, and your performance was very powerful. Lukather is good, but I've heard he was difficult.
I hope you're still having fun, and thanks for your contribution to the music world. You're a cool chap.
Simon clearly had fun during Falling in Between and the 35th Anniversary, too. He left the band for various reasons, one being that he wanted to pursue his solo career, another one that he wasn't really included in the band's business during Toto's reunion Tours from 2010-2013, and they barely played material from the later Toto albums then. I guess that was another point. Also, there was no new album in sight. Simon and Luke are still close friends. In fact, Simon is playing on Luke's upcoming solo album.

this is a new drum kit?
tamarockstar customamber Not actually a brand new kit.... Story goes that when Simon ordered the kit from Tama he thought the colour wasn't quite like what it is. So when it arrived from the factory and he opened the boxes he's reaction was oh I don't like it so this particular kit he mostly uses in the studio for recording so we haven't seen it used much. I've heard him say that now it doesn't mind the colour !
Just a bit more bass drum.
