- This film addresses the problem of syphilis in teenagers. The opening scene depicts a couple of teenage boys meeting girls at a club in a city. It is implied that they have sex. One of the boys, Don, is later seen leaving a dance with his girlfriend, Betty. On their way home, he convinces her to have sex with him. She is visibly upset afterwards, and he appears to feel guilty. He soon notices a sore, and mentions it to the friend who went to the city with him. The friend advises him to just ignore it and let it go away on its own, but Don decides to see a doctor anyway. The doctor diagnoses Don with syphilis, much to his surprise. He then shows Don pictures of chancres and explains the symptoms that could develop if syphilis goes untreated. Then, he asks Don about his contacts, and Don tells him about the girl in the city, although he doesn't know her contact information. The doctor asks Don if she was the only girl, and Don defensively says there was no one else. It is evident that the doctor does not believe Don. He explains to Don what could happen to a girl if she isn't notified immediately, especially since symptoms are less apparent in women. Don says that his girlfriend is a good, wholesome girl who should not have to go through with the tests, but the doctor explains that it's the right thing to do. After much internal debate, Don tells Betty, and they return to the doctor together to get treated. Although she is devastated, the doctor explains to her that she should be grateful to Don for telling her and that they should not have taken a risk with something that society condemns.

I can't help but get the creepy crawlies from watching these old videos when someone does something like...oh...say....be a doctor looking at syphilis in a microscope, WITH bare hands... then rubbing his lip while he ponders the answer of the day. OMG.
The last one I watched they had seven people prepping a church room for sterilization of people by choice. Not one had a mask or gloves and the so called "clean space" was emptied by the same people who brought the surgical items into it. ACK~

Holy crap. Doctors spent a lot of time with patients back in the day. This doc even did how’s own diagnostic testing. No nurses. No lab tech. No scientist. One man show and spends hours with his patient. Ahhh the good old days

Saw this in biology class. Woonsocket SD High School. Taught by superintendent Ralph " Wally Walrus" Barthelow who must have had something better to do that day. The class went nuts and Ralph would stick his head in the room every five minutes and scream "knock it off". We threw everything on the floor. No reason to think he raped her. She may have said yes willingly, and then felt regret afterward. People generally used to believe that sex was for marriage, and a lot of girls, and some boys, felt bad about giving in.

When cars became widespread, parents lost control over dating and out of wedlock births skyrocketed, as well as general disease. Plus, urbanization created anonymity. When America had smaller towns, families knew a lot about people, and girls frequently boycotted men known to be wild or "libertines.". Unfortunately with the social changes, plus the hesitancy to discuss honestly how to avoid temptations while still having fun.
Sometimes you have to wonder how the mankind is still here if people had this approach to sex. All three of them are acting like normal, law abiding humans never lower themselves to something so bloody disgusting, and veneral disease is a rightfull punishment, especially for a women for losing her virginity outside of marriage. Because why teach the young about protection, when you can tell them to simply not do it - as if there ever was a generation which abode to this.
We've had protection for a long time now but that's only made people have way more sex and the STIs have gone way up.
