I spent a couple of months in Baghdad in the summer of 1977, working for a Yugoslav company. We were staying in a small hotel on Al Rasheed St. and had our meals there. The food was great. In the evening, we'd explore the city, which, understandably, looked much better back then because they've had a series of wars in the meantime and the resulting pauperization of society. The streets were full of people in 1977, but in this video, they are empty even though it was a workday. I can only imagine that there has been a massive outflow of population because of the deadly conflicts.

The guy who was able to calculate the date just by giving him the birthdate is just amazing, how could the brain work like that
There must be some algorithm to find it easily, how itcounts leapt years?
Watching your videos made feel like home💔
Really miss iraq
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience in iraq💓
Wish Iraq a happy, peaceful and prosperous new year
I spent a couple of months in Baghdad in the summer of 1977, working for a Yugoslav company.
Thanks to the USA
@@pookiewookie7679 And no thanks to Saddam, the ISIS, and the civil war between the Sunni and the Shiites?
@@deanronson6331I’m Iraqi, I agree with you it’s the fault of Saddam and Islam ,a lot of young people are leaving Islam here.
@@Stewie-Griffinhow is it a fault of Islam bro? Islam existed long before you Americans knew the existence of America. Baghdad was a centre of superpowers. Ridiculous.
@@thenewmuslims9421it is tho… Lebanon was called Paris of the Middle East and look at it now 🤦 bring back Christianity to the Middle East, much better than it is now
Wonderful, I must visit Iraq, it is a beautiful country and the people in it are wonderful
greetings to Mr. Yasser from me in Indonesia, I hope he is safe and sound.

Your video is very interesting. Good luck on your journey 👍
Ahh I will visit one day my friends there in Baghdad. Can’t wait to eat. Miss the food
Great vlog & I really like your attitude & personality. Thank you for providing really interest content ❤️
I always thought Iraq was a no zone for tourists but this video shows us that behind the madness there’s a beautiful nation.
I can only hope that someday, I can return there on more peaceful terms and still be relatively safe. I absolutely loved the food and the people.

You can go now and be safe. The war is over
The war is over. So you can go now!!!! ITS SAFE!!!
For tourists - I'd say the Baghdad of 2022 is a lot safer than Philly and Detroit. Could have been a lot richer and beautiful but for interloper USA.
@@user_1abc Well to make it beautiful has nothing to do with safe. Thats the job what people make with their country. He talked about safety. And its safe cause the war is over. He can go back and start make it beautiful!!
Al-Rasheed street looks so very art deco style intelligently interwoven into an Arabic theme.
يا حيف يا بغداد هيجي صايرة أتذكرها في الثمانيات كانت نظيفة وتلمع وهسه صايرة عبالك مدينة من أفريقيا الوسطى 😢
Love and Peace to the people in Baghdad and Iraq!
I hope there future will be more peacefull than the past.

اهلا وسهلا بك أخي الكريم في العراق ونتمنى زيارة العراق دائما
Kino , I'm really impressed with this chef's English and Knowledge in Kifah street !
As a Pakistani I feel so much love for Iraq and Baghdad. ,💕💕💕❤️💞
I had several Iraqi meals while I was there during the war. I enjoyed the food very much. I could always smell them making fresh bread in the mornings in their backyards in those mudstyle ovens when I was out in a neighborhood. They would always try to give me the bread for free when I asked because I was armed but I always gave them money.
I would love to visit Iraq. The Middle East seems like a very interesting and culturally rich part of the World. The people also seem very engaging and sociable.
Living the dream Yves! Best bread (Samoon). I miss Baghdad every day.
Dear love from🇧🇩🇧🇩
Nice to see Iraq with out Conflict 👍🏻
Hello Yves I hope you like your visit in Iraq
I would recommend going to zayoona, al Zawrah park and Mansour while you are there. They are all great places. 👍
I got a very peaceful, welcoming vibe out of this. As for the breakfast, even if at first this came as a bit pricey, it could easily be considered a full day meal for my taste. Would love to visit someday, but before that I'm eager to see more, thanks for the video!
I'm sure it would be a lot cheaper if he spoke fluent Arabic and could pass himself off as a local.
It was 2 dollars was it not, and freshly cooked. A breakfast like that is 22 dollars in europe
$2 is the US gets you almost nothing these days, much less a freshly cooked meal.
@@haydengalloway5177I’m Iraqi , and 2.6$ is a fair price for this meal in Iraq , The cook would not have taken less than 2.6$ dollars if he was serving this food to an Iraqi person
When I work in Iraq the. Rasheed street is very popular many theater and General post office. And Government super market. is there year1985 very famous Street that time
So beautiful to see thsese people to prefer so kind , regards to Iraq i wish some day returns like old Bagdat nice video❤

to correct the information Yasser who cooked food, Iraqi, Baghdadi, born in Palestine Street area in Baghdad, the name of the street is (Palestine Street)
I think he said Palestinian street Bagdad . Good guy passionate about his food
I pray those people in Baghdad, as well as all of mankind, peace.
Welcome every time to my country, Iraq😊.
You have to find a local guide to guide you to the places you're looking for, to get benefit of time & simplify your communications with the locals😊
I'm sure you'll find many of the locals who would like to help you for free as volunteers, just to show the real gold of their hearts & prove they're not what the negative media try to distort their real identity😊
Thanks..
