Should we break up? Should we get married? With her dual expertise in the areas of decision-making and relationship science, Logan Ury is here to help. "paradox of choice" & "choice overload" - THIS explains why I never liked shopping the Mall or big overwhelming stores..

    While watching this I am reminded about a Stanford study of buying jam. The more choice of types of jam a consumer had to make at a grocery store the less units overall that store sold. When given a limited set of choice, say five types of jam to buy the store sold more units of jam. More choice makes it difficult to make a decision. Modern dating has become like this. We think there is a lot to choose from with better options always around the corner. So singles never ending up committing to one person for the long term.

    I love the way that the woman shook her head when the speaker mentioned that Brad Pitt's brother was cute. From what I'm hearing most women have there standards so unrealistically high already that they don't need to see the comparison. They already view the brother as inferior before the picture of Brad Pitt is put next to him.

    This advice applies to good looking men, and women. Ordinary men cannot suffer paralysis of choice because they're effectively invisible online. Most, millions, struggle to get a single match, let alone have choice. That's the insane market of online dating.

    The young lady with the "accent" stated the question correctly at first, but then she kind of restated it a couple times and her English got confusing and it almost sounded like it was the opposite question, but it was confusing that Logan didn't hear it. Maybe it wasn't the accent, but the English construct. Anyhow, Logan sort of answered it in regard to her current concept of the maximizer where the young lady is probably trying to find someone to meet very high expectations and will never find it unless she stops searching for what meets her unmeetable criteria and starts experiencing how her dates make her feel instead.

    i dont understand her misunderstanding the accent. she was very easy to understand and clear to me as a native speaker. i think the question was just uncomfortable for logan because it implied she had low self esteem which mightve been the case.

      That girl just couldn't formulate her question clearly at first, she just stated some facts and was waiting for Logan to reply. No connection to the speaker's self-esteem, IMHO 🙂

    • @a12i9
      @a12i9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sad Logan didn't answer the real question about high self-esteem, because that would've been interesting to me too. It can obviously also be a problem if you're confident. People don't always like that, especially with confident women. Would have been interesting to know if there's something you can do in this situation.

  • @seanhunt5952

    Wow she really struggled to understand the first girl with the accent. I had no trouble understanding her at all but she acted like the girl wasn't even speaking English. And then to say, "Thanks for translating," seemed a bit rude.

    The part where they could not understand the first question is so cringe! She clearly asked for tips for highly confident or high self esteem people. In the end that's not really what was answered. Why do a QnA in a place where you 'struggle with the accent'.
