A Sionics 12.5" mid-length barrel with a Polonium K on the end of it is the ultimate meta. You could get a lot done in many places with an upper like that.
Love the discussion! NERD ALERT: I design plastic injection molded parts and injection molded tools (made in the USA) are between $35K on the cheap end for smaller/simpler parts (like the HRF magwell parts) but can be up into the $400K+ for really big or crazy geometries. If you're feeling frisky, you can get your molds with a side of questionable labor practices for under $10K overseas. I'm sure HRF chose to just scale up slowly with SLS 3D printers (plus they make all their other stuff with those machines) rather than go all in on a mold for one particular SKU.

10.5 is the minimum for ar's but clearly it comes with drawbacks. Truly anything less is detrimental to ballistic performance and longevity of the weapon system. I would not consider a 10.5 a do-all rifle, but with mk262 or like ammo it's very good within closer distances
"But 12.5s are what everyone on the Internet says is the best because it's as short as a 10.3 and has as much velocity as a 14.5!" I love my BCM 11.5. I'd love to see a video expanding on the use of a Flow 556K on an 11.5. If I ever buy a can, that would probably be the one.
My 11.5" Build is a GAU/5/A/A no forward assist A1 sight's, Brownells Retro 1-12 chrome lined barrel, 4½" XM-177E2 flash hider, Black Nitride M-16 MPI/HPT Bolt Carrier, Stoned and polished milspec LPK, A1 grip, Essential Arms aluminum CAR stock on 6 position buffer tube with H2 weight, and SOPMOD BLOCK1 Kit and a PEQ-15. It's pretty Bitch'n for around the farm and in the woods busting hogs all night under NOD's but with the classic style of a 1967 Ford Mustang.
12.5 is better because you get a sizeable FPS gain in the loadings that actually matter. I'm getting 2580 with 77gr and 2750 with 62gr. 11.5 testing shows a loss of ~100fps for each loading compared to 12.5. from 12.5>14.5, velocity gains were 25fps in the 77gr and 30 fps in the 62gr. Ammo used was the Black Hills tmk, and Federal Fusion MSR.

@@fightmilk8613 I haven’t run it on a gun where it hasn’t cycled yet. I never really shoot cheap underpowered ammo though and I’m sure you can find a build where it would be unreliable. The type I didn’t bother adjusting the gas at all, whatever it was on before ran fine with minimal gas, but I ran my hux 556k exclusively on that before. On the LMT it has their stock carbine spring and an H2 buffer, very little gas can run really fast strings of fire and not get gassed out, there’s definitely noticeable gas, but it’s not making my eyes water. Should be noted LMT’s 12.5 mid length gas system is a proprietary design that’s very well done, so it’s kind of hard to compare it to a more standard mid length 12.5. While it’s not fair to compare a cat with surge bypass directly to a traditioanl flow through design like the Hux, B&T RBS, SIG SLx or RC3 designs it’s still a similar concept except the cat technology really helps to restrict late time flow for significantly better signature reduction especially to bystanders, that’s really where you notice the biggest difference comspred to other flow throughs.
